Speed camera detectors - possible GROUP BUY?
MoonlightVR replied to MoonlightVR's topic in General Car Chat
The unit comes with 6 months subs, it's £50 a year thereafter. Road Angel costs £49 for a year, £79 for 2, £99 for lifetime. I agree the Origin looks better, and has a v comprehensive display. The website has more info, including a demo I think? Key things over the RA for me were: More integrated look - hardly any wires visible). Tells you what speed the speed detection device has been set to eg. Gatso 30, Spesc 50 etc V portable so alot easier to take with you for security. It's not annoying! eg. only beeps once at you if you are travelling under the speed limit approaching a camera, but goes crazy if you're travelling over it! The downside is if you have more than one car and want to transfer it across you'll need another installation kit. Other than that it's a great piece of kit. -
Colour matching faded paint is definitely v difficult but metallics (like this car) are finished with a clear coat which pretty much seals the paint from such effects. From the description of the damage in this case the colour matching will be alot easier as the damage is to the rear bumper and rear panel, so it's one complete "aspect" of the car. Had the damage been to say the door then colour matching would be more critical due to the front and rear wings having the original paint.

Any takers? -
Mate I really doubt you'll get the outcome you are after here. A decent bodyshop will be able to match the paint shade/finish perfectly and this is what your insurance company will insist I'm sure.

If anyone is interested in getting some FK Konigsport (Koni T/A dampers all round) let me know because I organised a group buy of these for the CCGB last year and can still get a superb rate from the supplier :D :D -

Many thanks fellas. Hasn't this w/end been great C driving weather :D Happy days! -
Guy's are proper monster brakes!
-
VW part only so stealers or GPC only unfortunately
-
IMO those aux gauges should have been fitted as standard on the VR - they look so great! The very first mod I did to my C was this aux instrument pod - expensive but worth it. Have stocks been exhausted now then mate? Asim

No worries, cheers anyway ;-)

Thanks for the responses guys. The brakes on my VR are running exactly as they should and are running Pagid grooved disks and Pagid pads all round (fitted by Stealth), but I'm still not happy with them. They just don't inspire confidence, certainly not in line with the performance of the car. Thanks Joe for this. Would you say the 288s are considerably better than 280s? I see that you're waiting to fit them, but in case you've already tried the out?? Cheers Asim

Probably one of the bulbs is out - have you checked front/side/rear indicators on the right side??

Finally dug the plots out. Figures from AmD run: Power @ flywheel - corrected - 209bhp (5859rpm) Power @ wheels - 169.7bhp Torque 208.2lb/ft @ 4765rpm Produced 212bhp at Stealth, on the 15" Speedlines. AmD run was on 17s.

Has anyone got any suggestions on improving VR6 front brakes other than Brembos? IMO it's the one major thing that lets the car down dynamically. Thoughts appreciated!
-
Looking lovely matey :D

All Corrados share the same rear strut set up, just different damper/spring rates between the models. In fact it's the same rear strut set up as a Mk2 Golf. Might be worth taking a look at a Haynes manual for a Mk2 Golf as that will have a good exploded diagram. HTH

New wheels, brakes and grille (and engine)
MoonlightVR replied to PhatVR6's topic in Members Gallery
Very nice mate. Apparently the 288mm brakes have a much bigger pad area than the 280s - right? Is the braking much better? -
210 bhp with 209 lb/ft :D Is your engine a low miler and do you know if its been chipped at all? Nope, it's done 75k miles and is bog standard - ECU was checked and found to be original. I have recently fitted a K&N induction kit - but for the sound :D
-
Basically the grille-less fronted Passat. F-reg to K reg.
-
:D He's a good chap. Believe me I was more than a bit shocked and sceptical about the figure myself. However the AmD proved it to be accurate. Damn lucky I say!
-
Kev, that was my car! Ask Vince when you see him tomorrow.

Will dig the plots out and post a bit later on.
