  1. You'll need spring compressors on the front as to take replace the bearing you'll have to release the spring.
  2. Corrado better handler than a 944??
  3. Have you thought about FK Konigsports? Are basically Koni coilovers only cheaper! Only the springs differ, and for the better IMO.
  4. All post facelift models (mid 1992 on) Corrados have the raised bonnet and wider wings. A raised bonnet will bolt straight on though, so you don't have to change the wings.
  5. Hope your ABS pump isn't faulty Matt. New they are something horrendous like a grand + vat! I have a spare ABS pump that I may be persuaded to sell if you need it :)
  6. As I said before this is a very subjective topic! I'm very happy with them. They are a touch on the firm side around town, but never harsh or crashy. They really come into their own at higher speeds where they manage to control the car superbly. There's enough compliance and spring travel to ensure the car does not bump steer, especially important on our lovely road surfaces  The car feels very surefooted and confidence inspiring. The damping on the H&Rs is fixed, but in my experience it's superbly matched to the spring rates and so you really don't feel the need to adjust them. H&R are a world renowned coil spring manufacturer, and I'm told the dampers on the coilovers are made by Bilstein. The build quality is second to none, but this comes at a price, they're around the £800 mark  cheers for that, I,ve priced them at AMD £650. Thats next then on my list. :D[/quote:8c745] +VAT??
  7. Mate, the link doesn't work :( Nice C that, although the arches look a little too bulky??

  9. Given that you have the "norm/max" buttons in VW/C style it's probably a Diavia. You might have a sticker in the engine bay from the manufacturer? Other than that look for markings on the air con components.
  10. Neither needed to be removed. Only the lower dash is removed to fit in all the air con plumbing. Depends on which version of the aircon it is... I know that one of them has a completely different central air routing box which is behind the middle of the dash (where the matrix is) and there's NO way you can get that in/out without taking out the dash... :? I'm basing my comments on the factory approved Diavia kit that was the most common dealer fit set up.
  11. True. Only the very early (pre 1986) 4 stud Audis are 4/100. Post 1986 they are 4/108.
  12. Sorry mate but the kits are not the same. FK produce different kits for the Golf and the Corrado. The kit is even different if you have a 16V/G60 or a VR6 Corrado. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that a 16V drives very differently to a VR6 Corrado, and so the kits reflect this. Even if the Golf drove crap does that automatically mean the Corrado will too? I think not. Golfs drive v differently to C's! I've driven both a G60 and a VR6 C with Konigsports and I was impressed. Was the Golf set up Konigsport? FK also do a budget coilover which I'm sure will be v different to the Koni based Konigsport. This may well be true, but is this level of detail realistic? After all you can hardly try different components/spring rates before you buy. At best you can drive another car fitted with the suspension you are considering, but chances are that will drive very differently to your own car due to mileage/tyre/wheels/state of bushes etc. The trouble is suspension and how the car drives is very subjective. One man's great set up is another's pile of poop. Considering we are driving road cars here I don't think the choices are really all that complicated. In my experience the konigsports do a great job of cutting the pitch and dive while still providing a reasonable amount of spring travel making you at least feel like the car has suspension! The damping was spot on. Oh, and I'm not biased, my own car has H&R coilovers. I'm just fortunate to have experienced the KFs and I came away v impressed. Just my 2p's worth!
  13. The FKs are a superb set up, and great value. The konigsport setup as on Tom's car use Koni TA dampers all round with FKs own springs which in my experience get the ride/handling compromise pretty much spot on. Better than Koni's own coilover setup IMO. The FK set up is pretty much what you have on your car Kev, it's just they've used 2.25" springs and have height adjustable platforms.
  14. Neither needed to be removed. Only the lower dash is removed to fit in all the air con plumbing.
  15. Here you go mate: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 35620&rd=1 or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 35810&rd=1 :D
  16. OE setup handling not bad? It's superb mate! I'll never forget being a passenger is Andy Bryant's VR after he changed the suspension on his car with original VW replacements. Took my breath away. The 4x4 ride height certainly doesn't affect it's handling!! You can really see why journalists raved about the C VR as one of the best handling front wheel drive cars of all time. Simply the best set up for the money, if you can live with the 4x4 look!
  17. Personally I think it is a mistake buying any suspension that isn't matched by the manufacturer, ie. lowering springs with dampers valved to suit. Or use a damper like Koni TAs that can be adjusted to match any spring rate. At the very least a lowering spring should be used with a shorter damper - an OE spec/length damper will just not perform right with the shorter spring. Just my 2p worth
  18. Matt, yep regular "feeding" of the leather will help keep the leather soft and crack free. Leather will crease naturally, but when it dries out it cracks. Regular cleaning and feeding will keep it looking good for years :D
  19. Unfortunately I think pretty much all the leather conditions you can use will leave the surface slighly shiny, simply because the conditioners are emulsions of essential oils for the leather that keep it soft and supple. Black leather will probably show the shine the most too  I use AutoGlym cleaner, followed by the conditioner and it works well enough.
  20. Looking very nice Lee. See you've smoothed the sills off too. What are you using on there now there is no flexible underseal?
  21. Hate induction noise? Kev, I'll have to take you for a spin mate - a VR with induction kit is one of THE great sounding engines!
