For me, VR, no contest. G60s can be quick no doubt, but they lack the understated class and sophistication of the VR lump, IMHO! In gear, on cam, with induction kit, the VR is lovely car!!

Does anyone know a good alloy wheel restorer?
MoonlightVR replied to DEL VR6's topic in General Car Chat
I don't think they are pearl silver to start with, just metallic silver. As a general rule I don't thisnk these refurbing places use exactly the same colour as OE, but it's usually quite close. -
Yeah, as Brooksy says the Brands Hatch was also C VR only fitment. There's a few pics of C's with these wheels in the 1995 UK Corrado brochure.

Side trims are glued on (high strength double sided tape). They can be removed more easily by heating them gently with a heat gun. Only trouble is the door mouldings are too long to take off easily and will almost certainly distort and so look wavy when put back on. The front wing and rear quarter ones are much easier to take off cleanly. So either risk taking the door ones off and ruining them, or leave them on and mask round, or take them off and leave them off. Obsolete part now I'm told so no cahnce of getting some new ones

You sure yours is a 6x4 tailpipe mate? 6x4 doesn't fit in the OE bumper cut out. IIRC 6x4 is the oversize "Boxster" look tailpipe isn't it?? I think the tailpipes in the Magnex and Millteks are 4" ovals? Or am I talking horlicks??
-
Fair enough John. Maybe Milltek have sorted it recently as about a year or so ago all I heard was complaints! Regarding fitting centres, 2 of the guys had their Millteks fitted by AmD, and had problems! And they're hardly monkeys! I still preer the look and the sound of the Magnex. Will be fitting one to mine as soon as the OE one falls off, which it refuses to do
-
That's not the standard size of a Magnex. The standard Milltek and Magnex tailpipes are similar, and are slightly bigger versions of the oval OE tailpipe. I've heard quite a few people complain about the Milltek system, due to poor fit. Magnex is much better.

Ebay, in particular ebay.de. Otherwise GPC in Luton.

Yep, Bilstein are available thru Euro car parts. VR top mounts are stronger than G60/16V parts and so ideally suited to cars fitted with uprated suspension kits/coilovers. If you're sticking with OE spec suspension it's probably not worth upgrading. If you chose to go with VR top mounts you'll need to buy all the other components too ie. bearing and retaining nuts etc Best to check the parts from an exploded diagram in Ekta.

He certainly did. A corker on ATS cups. Nice one Jay, look forward to seeing the article

Tis a good price Jim. You can also try: http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/copy ... uiars.html They do the full range and p&p is free. Seem the cheapest. Doing a deal on the 3 stage system by the looks of it too.

Mate, had many people in the "trade" strongly suggest against a Clifford. Unfortunately I hadn't asked any of these before I had a Clifford fitted to my Mk1  My Mk1s Clifford has been a total nightmare and was fitted by a v competent engineer at a Clifford authorised fitting centre. By contrast I have a Sigma M30 on my C and it has been perfect in every single way (touch wood!) I'd strongly recommend the Sigma, but if you are considering only Toad and Clifford, go for the Toad. I've heard good things on the whole about Toad. Jim, I think you were lucky!

Richie, how long does the shine last for?? Or maybe I should say, how long does it continue to make water bead?

Are those wheels from a VW dealer? I'm sure they were offered by VW as a dealer fit option on the Bora?? Any markings on the wheels to identify them? Looks like a very nice car mate - congrats!

The thicker lettering is inevitable as the paint layer is thicker. Pristine charge around 55-60 quid per wheel. -
Nice one mate - brilliant before and after shots!! I've heard nothing but praise for Meguiars, so they must be good. Shall be getting some I think.

Yep, Pristine are superb, but not cheap  Based in Woburn Sands, Nr Milton Keynes. They used to have agents all round the country who ship the wheels over to them and then back to in around 4/5 days. Not sure if they still do?? -
The schrick is a pretty rare tuning item so I think you're going to struggle getting one second hand. All you can do is post on Vortex etc and hope some has one lying around or as already suggested, buy new.

You're kidding Matt? You can usually see plenty of -ve camber on the fronts of F1 cars??
-
My car has been set up to within factory specs with its lowering and I've had absolutely no problems at all. No excessive tyre/shoulder wear, so i guess if it's set up correctly it's fine?
-
I had GSD 2 F1s on my Speedlines and I loved them. IMHO most good branded tyres are good in the dry, but it's in the wet that you see the major differences, and the F1s were phenomenal in the wet! Could be the camber settings your car has been set to might not be optimal and/or the tyre pressures are on the low side?? I've always had my VR set up with a fair degree of negative camber (but within factory tolerences). This will scrub the inner shoulder of the tyre a bit, but hell does it help the cornering, especially in the wet! Again IMHO having correct alignment makes a HUGE difference to the way the car drives. 2p spent........ :D

hello all, new member with pics of my car :)

Nice. 8) What sort of figures you got with the charger? -
I've found that too Mike. Running 40 profile tyres is always going to be on the firm side, but I'm amazed at the difference between Yoko A539s (firm) with Conti SportContacts which are lovely!!
