    VR6 vs 330Ci

Believe me, I'm as puzzled as you are! Not complaining though!
  2. Very rare that's for sure! Oettinger did various states of tune for the units - you'll have to find out more from the dealer I think. Basically it could be cams to gas flowing to bigger valve head to capacity increase. Nice!

Freak?!!!! You're not going to believe this, but it's boggo standard!!! Ask Vince about it at Stealth - he rolling roaded it 2 years ago (Stealth also maintain the car for me). One of the quicker ones he's tested! My intial thoughts after the run were that his rollers were out, but last year it was RR at AmD and they got the same figure! Most powerful standard unit they've tested apparently :D :D I've got the plots - want me to scan it in? Suffice to say I'm keeping it as it is!!
  4. Mudflaps? Nah  H/wash is quite effective, if not so pretty!

    VR6 vs 330Ci

    210 bhp with 209 lb/ft :D
  6. Totally agree with Kev, the benefit of performance leads is over hyped - OE leads from VW are well up to the job IMHO.

    VR6 vs 330Ci

I had several duals with 330s and there's nothing in it really - very closely matched. The VR is quicker than a 330 convertible - must be the weight/aerodynamics. The 325 is easy meat :D Come up against a RX8 a couple of times too and they are also very closely matched to the VR. On the last occasion I exited a roundabout onto a dual carriageway with the RX on the inside and me on the outside. Changed up at 6k rpm in 2/3rd and well into 4th gears and we were neck and neck :D I think the RX8 driver was a bit miffed  Not bad for a 9 year old hey?!
  8. Cheers again guys. The steering wheel is solid wood, not wood effect, and many people don't like it!! I do though :D Goes well with the beige I think. I've put a wooden gearknob on it too - from a Golf Highline - same shape as the OE gearknob. The car has done 75k now. Had 59k on it when I got it. Never let me down in any shape or form which must be a C ownership record!! Fortunately the car was very well looked after by it's previous owners hence the interior was very good when I got it. I use AutoGlym leather cleaner and then the conditioning cream on it quite regularly which keeps it clean. There's a surprising amount of vinyl used on "full" VW interiors - lower door cards, back of the seat backrest etc and I use Armor All cleaner on that. Use a spray on foam cleaner on the carpets and headlining. The "RS" is just on there as I like the badge! Bit nerdy I know but the wheels are BBS RS, hence the link   On the whole I'm with you, don't like too many badges/stickers on the car.
  9. That's fair enough. I'm just offering this as I asked the chap who I bought my device from if he was up for a GB. The attraction for me was the fact that he was an authorised dealer. Should anything go t!ts up on the device at least you'll know that you've got the back up......
  10. Many thanks for the comments guys :D I've had the C for 2 and a bit years now. Took me months to find one in my "dream" spec, and that had been well looked after! This one came up in Cornwall!! Basically the first owner pretty much ticked all the option boxes on the order form when it was ordered! It has electric Recaros in beige leather, heated seats, headlamp washers and Diavia air con (dealer fit only). It was standard when I bought it, but I've always had a clear idea of how I wanted it to look. There's a fair few mods on the car now but they're pretty subtle in their overall effect :)
  11. After much umming and ahhing I recently took the plunge and bought a speed camera detector. I did a fair bit of research and settled on the Origin B2 GPS device as the best one for my needs. When shopping around for the best deals I noticed that prices varied widely. RRP is £429, but some places sell them for alot less than this. It turned out that the cheaper places were not authorised dealers. No big deal I thought, until I stumbled across a warning on the Origin website stating that any Origin device bought from an unauthorised dealer will only have a 28 day warranty instead of the full 2 years normally offered. Anyway to cut a short story even longer :D I found that authorised dealer were much closer to the RRP. The dealer I bought my Origin from turned out to be a half decent bloke and in the end did me a reasonable deal. I'm very impressed with the Origin (had it 4 weeks now) and would recommend it to anyone. IMO it's the pick of the bunch. Now onto the purpose of this mail! I asked him if he would be happy to do a group buy, and he is. He is an authorised agent for Origin, Road Angel and Snooper. He favours Origin and Road Angels however as he has seen problems with the Snoopers - not sure if this is accurate? Anyway, if we can get 10+ people you guys can get a considerable saving on the RRP of the detectors. Current RRP on the Origin is £429, and on the Road Angel it's £399. As a ball park figure we can get this down to £350 for the Origin and £289 for the Road Angel. For more info on the devices: http://www.originb2.com/ http://www.blackspot.com/ There's no benefit for me in all this as I've already bought mine! Thought you lot might be interested though :D
  12. speeding.co.uk are doing the 3 stage kit for 20 pounds including p&p. Seems a good deal.
  13. Many thanks guys. Scott I take it you've compared the results on your own car? How long does the wax last - ie. how long does it keep water beading? My dad runs a Mk2 Golf in Tornado Red which lives outside :( We've used AutoGlym up to now which has worked well enough, but it just doesn't last very long. I after something for his car as well as my Corrado.
  14. Anyone ever tried it? Any good? How does it comapre to other products eg. AutoGlym, Zymol, Swissol etc Thoughts appreciated.
  15. Worth trying a lube first. A non-grease based lubricant is best, eg GT85. Coats the spolier shaft  with PTFE. Failing that it could be control module playing up.
  16. LOL! Great idea! As the washer jet is part of the wiper mechanism I just blocked the pipe off inside the hatch. Might have to re-route it to spray tailgaters!! Good website that for the BBS refurb. Only trouble is it doesn't really answer the question we were discussing last night about refinishing the outers.
  17. IMO the biggest thing that lets the car down are the brakes. Would love some Brembos from the Leon Cupra R but I'm 99% sure the wheels won't clear the caliper. Other than that I'm done :D . They are such a good car to start with doing too much can ruin it. Anyone fitted Leon Brembos to a VR?
