Hi Wayne A few random points. My engine starting sounds more like yours than the second video. I've got no fault codes or issues with the car and the engine was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago so hopefully ours are both ok! lol Instead of Rain-X try this - http://www.motorgeek.co.uk/cgi-bin/ecom.cgi?Command=ShowProduct&db_pid=37 This had been applied to my car and I like it (previous owner had applied it.) I wouldn't say that you don't need wipers, but it's noticeable how easily rain comes off the windows. Plus with all this salty spray about, I don't seem to be using screen wash anywhere near as much as usual. Ref the mats, here's a link to my thread on some 'cheapies' I bought off ebay - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=88848&highlight=floor+mats To be fair they're not bad for the price. They did start to wear quicker than something more pricey in the sense carpet tuft getting fluffy but I guess you pay your money and make your choices ;)

Cheers John ;) Looks like part 21 on here - http://www.partsbase.org/vw/corrado-cor-eu-1993-234-wiper-and-washer-system-for-rear-window/ I did check this already but wrongly assumed I was looking at part #21 on my car! VW Classic can get it for a whopping £2.32! :)

Lol ^^^^
-
Oh nice one! They had one on it before when they looked at power increase just from servicing.
-
Ooops ditto Sean lol

Ref the loose headlight, as well as the two brackets on the top, if you look down the hole in the slam panel, kind of inbetween the two headlight mounts, there's a screw down in the bottom that fixes the rear of the light unit. I think these are often missing, if it is then replacing this screw and just one on the top MAY be enough to stop it wobbling. ;)
-
Ah ok, thanks Jim ;) Anyone have one?
-
Will do, I'll get it back on the ramps and have a nose. If one is missing I'm hoping it's the same size as the wrong ones I bought the other day! lol
-
OMG what a bodge! lol I never checked the rear ones. I think a previous owner had shares in a tape company as many things had been taped. The crystal rear lights that were on the car when I bought it had the wires taped in to the loom, like with the ABS sensor. Same colour tape! lol Fingers crossed it's a fix ;)

Easy way to check is find the part for your car on Partsbase - http://www.partsbase.org/vw/eu/ Then type the part number in to the search box at the top and it will list every car it's fitted to ;)
-
When I operate my rear window washer, water just dribbles over the wiper head on to the spoiler like an old man with a weak prostate! lol There's no 'jet' to it at all. I've looked at Partsbase and I don't think I'm missing any parts. Looking at the jet it looks like it should jet upwards and deflect off the cap on to the window; Am I missing something??

Excellent :)

Got the bolt from VW today and promptly fitted it. It is the right one this time; Once I got the block and mount lined up I just about had enough space to get the bolt in and tighten with fingers before there was enough room for a ring spanner; However, it's not sorted my problem at all :( Unless I'm super smooth with gear changes, I get a dull thud/clonk every time I go in to second, and to a lesser degree third. I'm still convinced it's engine/box mount related so back to the drawing board and more scratching around

I guess a lot is if you've got to spend the money on it now? If the chains aren't rattling away and an immediate issue, I'd just live with the car a while, settle in to it and draw-up a list of all that needs doing.
-
That's cool-as!! Thanks Aide ;)

Welcome Wayne, looks a nice buy. Shame about the break down but sounds like it's not terminal! lol If getting the timing chains done then definitely get the clutch done at the same time, no harm in water pump either. Do the chains need doing or are you just guessing they will from the mileage?
-
Fair dos. Still worth having the scanner for the future as it can save you chasing any problems that may arrive ;)
-
Hopefully not too bad then. Clutch will be the biggest thing to do, but no biggy I guess lol
-
Looking clean Toby! I can't remember if I told you, but having scanned recently, I'd either get a connection error or no codes at all. Since I owned it I never got any fault codes on the ABS system. Bit bizarre but hopefully sorting the shocking wiring out may be a step in the right direction. :thumbleft: Did the machine polish help a lot?
-
Cheers Hasan. Whilst my white valver was tatty on the outside it rattled a lot less than this one. If I can achieve rattle/squeak free-ness Ill be a happy man! lol
-
Hopefully so, not 100% yet but don't see why not
-
Not an exciting update, or any pics, but.... - I think I've sorted the coolant leak that suddenly appeared. Looks like a jubilee clip needed tightening on the thermostat housing - Fixed my rear number plate lights - one of the wires had detached from the bulb holder - Sorted some rattly trim, inside under the rear window as the main end clips that screw on were broke. The car isn't rattle free yet but it's a step in the right direction! So, boring update but I'm feeling rather chuffed with myself now!

Looking forward to the post-polish pics Toby ;)

Afternoon all. I bought this little pocket manual off Amazon, I don't know if anyone else has one? It does look like a cracking book with some good info, but most of it is related to stripping and rebuilding an engine, rather than general servicing (there's a little on this.) I thought I'd post up A.) in case it's of interest for someone looking for something like this and B.) I can't see me using it much as my engine has been rebuilt, so would part with it for the £12 odd it cost ;) I've got a Bentley manual on the way so that should cover all bases much better! Cheers Andy
