Double post - sorry!

Hi Dave. Can I put myself on the waiting list too please - happy to pay a deposit if needed. Once I have one I can send you my old one back quickly but I can't send it to you first sadly as need the car at the moment. Many thanks Andy

Ah ok thanks for that, I can sleep easy now! :) LOL - I wondered that too as the P/O didn't know. The answer is nothing!! It must have been an old cut-off or something, I've pulled it out the dash earlier today and there's three wires on the back that have been cut. I'll just pretend it's a NOS button in my childish dreams! :)

The stereo in my C didn't work when I bought it so I've fitted a new unit I had kicking around waiting to go in my MK1 Golf. It all works ok but wont hold its memory for pre-set stations and settings after you've left the car and come back to it. Looking at the plug wiring below, according to the stereo installation guide, the red/white wire on the left should be ignition live and the brown/red wire on the right should be permanent live. Checking with a multi meter it appears they're the other way around. I guess this is the root of my problem, but the harness all looks factory rather than bodged by someone. So my questions are to double check - firstly does the above look/sound correct and secondly, I was going to cut these two wires and connect them to each other to swap the feeds around to the plug. In my head this should work but the brown/red wire is thinner than the other. Whilst it's taking ignition switched 12v now, will permanent 12v be an issue for the thinner wire? I hope that all makes sense? lol Any help is appreciated as I'm no electrics whiz!

This is just a blank switch front; I thought that all C's had ABS? There's certainly what looks like an ABS unit under the bonnet. Curiosity is getting the better of me on this one. The brakes work ok though!

This one is fitted to mine, it looks like MK2 Golf to me. Is it? Does it matter?? lol I'm just curious really, there's no problems with it
-
Sounds easy enough, looks like I'll have to get this done ;)
-
Sounds good - I have a dremel too. What do I need to do with it? Is it a big job to install the kit? I know MK1/MK2 Golf linkages inside out but not cable ones

Thanks for all the links and info Andy! I like BBS RX too, one wheel I've been looking out for. Those comps are rather nice but too rich for me right now. Talking of rich, E30 M3 - nice choice! The short shift kit looks a good idea, I love the shift but it is quite loooong! One to get done soon I think. Let me think about the grill - it's a kind offer but without the tabs I'm not sure how much of a pain it will be to kit it to stay on? Thanks again ;)

Thanks for the kind words! I've no motor trade experience so thought I should take the angle of speaking from the heart so to speak! :) We're on the same page with my car. Original rear lights are already purchased off a kind chap from this site, should arrive later this week. Upgraded loom is on it's way (original headlights are shocking, they make my MK2's pre-loom upgrade lights look like Xenons! lol) and I've been keeping my eye out for a grill. I like the original but with a black VW badge. Wheels I've been looking out for too. Not sure what to go for yet. Was thinking Estorils - I really like them and they're dead easy to clean too! lol Ref the side trims, I had thought the same. However, the car has had a poor respray in the past with all trim left on so I'm pretty sure if I remove the trims, then I'll have a different wide side stripe on the car so I think they'll have to stay for now! lol Ref the short shift kit, that sounds interesting. Who is the clever man Dave you speak of? :-D

Gutted I missed the two Lancs too! May have to shoot down for a Sunday meet
-
I missed Stamford classics this year but been a few times, it's good. Couldn't make Baston either this year - not been before but some mates were saying it's huge? Will have to see if I can make this weekend or not? I know I can't do Saturday

It's a rare car to see on the road, you do tend to get a lot of second looks I've noticed, esp. as mine has a debadged front grill (for now) I think a lot of people just don't know what it is! lol Will have a look at the FB page ;)
-
Nice one! I've not seen one about, but then I've probably not been looking out for one! lol
-
Just seen your thread as new here. Gutted for you Rossi but as others have said, great new that you're not throwing in the towel! I agree with John, get the charger sorted unless you have conclusive proof it's been done. More money I know but it will save the potential of another nightmare and give you many years of happy motoring ;)

That MK3 looks way too good to chop about :-/

Nice buy Steve, great engine and a great colour :)

Hi there, if I've not lost track of what's sold and what's not, I'd be interested in one set of rear lights, plus the front indicators that are left (they're ok for my '95?)Would you do a package deal? Many thanks in advance ;) Andy

Let this off inside mine in the hope of making it smell fresher!
-
Cheers for the info, so only two temp sensors is correct for mine then
-
Blimey that's good to see new, thank you. Didn't think you'd ever get these new. Having said that, it will make the rest of my trims look shabby lol So, second hand may be the best option. Cheers again though ;)

My recent purchase had a pretty bad idling problem, it was hunting all over the place and stalling at junctions quite often. After a thorough check through of most things - and cleaning and resetting the metering head flap that was surprisingly dirty and 'out of whack!' I replaced one of the temperature senders, which seems to have sorted the problem, mostly. My question thought is how temp sensors are there on the 9A engine? I've contorted myself as much as I can and can only see two - one with a white plug (part 36 in the following link/diagram) and next to it one with a single spade connector, no 8. http://www.partsbase.org/vw/corrado-cor-eu-1995-212-oil-pressure-switch-thermal-switch-temperature-sensor-switch-for-reversing-light/ On this drawing there's three no 8's showing. Should I have others I haven't found yet, or as this is a generic diagram for all four cylinder engines is it just covering all bases? Any help appreciated, hopefully to confirm that I'm not going blind!! Lol Cheers Andy

I'm not a fan of add-on DRL's to older cars to be honest, as mentioned they just don't suit. How about just driving around with your side/headlights on? If it's purely for a style thing, not safety, then it's down to personal preference, if you like them, go for it (in a tasteful manner of course! )

No worries mate, thanks very much for looking ;) Chris - I'm up for yours if it's tidy then?
