Guys U think its this causing the scraping? I did noticed from time to time quite a bit of debris falls onto the dash (not sure from where? Dodgy windscreen replacement? I mean all windows are shut etc - but ONLY happens when I drive fast!)...this TAB on back of steering wheel and this recess covered with debris on steering column...

Lol Looking at new Golf GTi doing sprints in 5sec And Audi TTs in 4.9 - i guess we shouldnt compared with modern cars... ...but in 90s our Cs were fast compared with other similar cars! :thumb right:

Still not sure by use credit card? In my pic i cant see any contact from steering wheel to column (except that gold clip) Er ...do have a 2nd opinion about my horn (cough)(cough) working (cough) :eek: So it must be inside that steering column - the scraping???

Always worry shifting to 2nd (coming down a flooring it)! What max speed can u drop down to 2nd and floor it? I was thinking with a 2.9 L and healthy 190bhp (or whats left after 20years) - Surely i dont need to drop to 2nd to beat a fiat 500??? Maybe if i was trying to beat a Scooby or something? Must be my driving - always think others drive faster even in my car :(

Do i need to remove pads to add copper grease? Or just remove wheel and add copper grease to back of pads?

Use credit card to remove that gold metal clip thing at bottom of steering wheel/column? That making noise?
