  2. Just a note on the ebay/gpc ones, I bought some and they seemed very tight fitting compared to the original blue ones, although they did go in with a bit of force. The ones I received were black. Neil.

    G60 won't run

    Welcome along Matt. First thing I would do is pop a screw driver down cylinder 1, raise it to TDC by slowly turning the crank bolt and see where your marks are on both crank pulley and flywheel. It sounds like a timing issue, and it sounds like it may have had the flywheel replaced. Neil.

  5. Thanks for the kind words. :thumbleft: I'm glad somebody likes it! haha! Think I'm pretty much decided on sticking with it now for a good few years to come. I've just put too much time, effort and money into it to get rid.

  7. Ah it may be that mines a later G60, but the fuse 22 position may be sitting on top/above the fuse box. It should be listed on the reverse of your fuse box cover so it will be best to check that in all honesty. This is what I use for simple voltage testing: Clip the crocodile clip onto an earth and away you go poking around. [ATTACH=CONFIG]52957[/ATTACH]
  8. Hi mate, do you have a leccy test light or volt meter? What I would do is have the ignition on, and check for voltage on the fuses (while plugged in obviously) and then unplug them and check each pin in the actual fuse box where they sit for voltage. If you have both pins on a single fuse position dead (one on each fuse position should be), you can then work your way back from there to see where you find 12v. I believe it's fuse 4 for the sunroof, 6 for the heater, and fuse 22 for the stereo. But as they are on partly different circuits it looks as though something else may have gone, relay perhaps? Load reduction relay maybe? or another burnt wire somewhere. Neil.
  9. Ah ok Chris, I am still interested as mine suffers the same middle screw fitting broken but also the flappy part is broken. So I shall still take it off your hands along with the broken passenger fog light. £25 delivered Chris? Neil.

Welcome. :cheers: Just to chime in to make an experienced point of view, mileage isn't everything although obviously it can help, actual physical condition and service history/the way it has been looked after can mean much, much more sometimes. I once owned what Im sure is the best original mk1 golf gti in the country (50k miles) but at the time of buying it I was offered one with only 16k miles, I bought the better car without doubt. One was literally as new, one actually had rusty wheels, a dry/crusty floor and had been painted for starters! :scratch: No doubt your VR6 seems a nice one, and someone would pay what they think it's worth but as said Corrado value's aren't great at the moment. I would hang onto it if you can/want to, and also throw up more pictures for us to enjoy :-) Neil.

Feels like it's been so long since I posted a positive update :cheers: It's really been run into the ground and it's about time I got it back up to scratch, just gonna be a time issue with work and the new house etc but I'll try me best. First batch of bits from AVS car parts. House project minus £130 :bonk: Air filter, oil filter, oil, w6dpo spark plugs, main charger belt, power steering belt, top mounts and fittings. Have got another batch of bits waiting to be picked up from the dealers too, water pump etc. House project minus £220 :bonk: And a couple more pics for old times sake... ---------- Post added at 11:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 PM ---------- JUST about managed to pick the bits up from Vw today. Coolant. Water pump. Pump elbow. Elbow bolts/washers and seal. Bonnet cable - £35 quid!!! Bonnet cable nipple. Thermostat. Fuel filter. Various nuts/bolts inc a bolt to replace the snapped one I had to get the hack saw on. The brand new bonnet cable proceeded to snap before even getting the bonnet shut! Sorted another one which is all fine. And I somehow lost the gear pattern off the top of my custom gearknob so I treated it to a new one along with a red leather gaitor I had made. And it lights up of course...Doesn't show very well/red on the pic though. ---------- Post added at 11:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 PM ---------- Water pump etc all fitted, no more coolant leak. As for the suspension side of things, well I have new stuff on the way as the Konigsports are knackered, utter crap! :shrug:

  14. Hi Chris, if all the screw fixing points are intact, the flappy bit is all there with metal tabs and there are no screw holes, I'll take the late steering column surround. Edit: I'll take that knackered passenger side fog light too. £25 quid for the lot delivered? If you want to forward/pm payment address I can pay straight away. Thanks, Neil.
  15. Hi mate, check if your idle screw is still fitted in the back of the throttle body. A little mirror, or taking a pic with a mobile phone will help. It's a brass (flat head screwdriver type) Neil.

Aye, that's what I did last time, I hate having to have things painted because I can never seem to get anyone to do a proper job :( [ATTACH=CONFIG]52197[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=CONFIG]52181[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=CONFIG]52177[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=CONFIG]52193[/ATTACH] It ended up like this after one guy painted it. :bonk: [ATTACH=CONFIG]52185[/ATTACH] So I thought sod it, I'll do it meself, then realised after the first coat that the paint was labeled incorrectly and it was bloody vauxhall metallic black! :bonk: [ATTACH=CONFIG]52189[/ATTACH] So...Lol. I then took it to another guy, and now it's lifting again along the trim lines. And even though I stressed I wanted it to be done in LO41 Vw black, I just don't think it is, strange brown tint to it in the sunlight. Sick of it tbh!
  18. Still looking...Don't make me buy a whole late gloss black corrado just to break it for the bumper guys. I'm extremely tempted lol!
  19. I'd agree with that, the scissor design and the bars are definitely where all the stress is. And they do far outweigh (In strength/stress terms) the silly little clip. Unfortunately in my case they are really free and easy to move, cable felt great when first fitted so must have been a weak clip or something? Not quite sure. I fitted it slightly on the 'under tensioned' side too rather than pulling the inner cable too tight, so that full pull of the handle didn't stop too soon and try and stretch the inner if you know what I mean. Easy enough job for anyone else considering it anyway, pop the fusebox down. Unbolt the metal nipple, slide it off, unclip the cable from the inner wing, pull out the two rubber grommets, release cable from handle, pull handle end through into engine bay (Watch the cable doesn't wallop you or the paintwork!), then pull the hinge end through into the scuttle tray, the plastic nipple will come off along the way. Do the exact opposite to replace.
  20. Aye, I had to buy the whole cable too mate. Thought I may as well anyway so that the actual metal line/casing are nice and new. It was £35 quid plus the nipple which was about £7 quid. All for it to break again straight away :-/ Will be taking it back tomorrow! and then I'll fit the new one with some added strength somehow. The same idea as Vw would be fine if the metal was thicker with a block on top, the block should have a push fit hole for the end of the cable. Why they didn't do that I don't know, it's obvious that the stress of the cable/over engineered bars in the bay will pull it over and snap it.
  21. I wouldn't count on it...I've just fitted a brand new Vw one, tried the lever a few times before I closed the bonnet, felt nice and free, but the ridiculous clip snapped again. Absolute crap.

  24. Managed to get it all sorted/back up and running. Needed to loosen off the bolts at the rear/right hand side of the power steering pump. Absolutely crazy how you have to adjust it so that the bolt lines up, you can only get to one of the bolts without the charger bracket on. Hard work trying to get it positioned and then tightened up without moving a mm or two! Tighten it all up, go to stick charger bracket on to find that the adjustment you made is now out! Uber annoying!
