Deceided im gonna save it and use it as a daily :D Why not keep it alive eh :D Can't wait to post pics of the brakes like...Jesus the drive home was fun  It does have a few problems as listed in first post, but all fixable and its a red corrado valver! :D Neil.
-
Aye, body is quite straight and solid Gav :D Its just very, very pink (shows in pics of rear where its not wet) Looks much better in the pics in all honesty! Neil.
-
Gonna save it rather than break it i think, way too many corrado's get broken! Ive got some zimmerman cross drilled front discs and mintex pads on the way...Will post pics of the current brakes when i swap them, they are not good  Neil.

1991 Corrado 1.8 16v in red (pink) , 6 months mot and 3 months tax. It was advertised for £400 and as being stood for 4 months, and had some problems... The battery was totally dead, not even accepting charge...But when jump leads were used the alarm would sound and couldn't be turned off with fobs or anything. The immobiliser activated too stopping it from being started. It had four 17" alloys but a tyre was damaged, so a 15" sebring was fitted on one front side, when moving the car/driving it last time, it was all over the road! big time! So anyway, i decided to travel to manchester with Manny to have a look and see if i could get it running. First problem occured before meeting Manny, i got stopped by a cop and got done for my 1 german plate on the rear (£30 quid fine) but im just glad he didn't notice the front plate which is made from plastic mesh! Why he didn't look at the front of the car i don't know! A quick pic before setting off in Manny's G60 beast: Upon arrival, having a look around the car there were a few issues. Battery is the flattest ive ever come across. There is a hole above the passenger door handle where someone broke in. The drivers side handle dosn't operate central locking. Oil temp on mfa dosn't work. Speaker grills on door cards missing/1 painted silver. Water/coolant leaking from both rad hoses and expansion tank hose. Absolutely no oil in the sump! Paintwork is very, very badly faded...Dosn't really show in pics. Wearing three 17" alloys and one 15" Steering all over the place due to a spigot ring used on the 15" alloy. Very badly corroded brake discs all round. Corroded spark plugs. Different keys for doors/no key for boot! Broken seat belt clip. Gear lever sloppy, struggle to get gears. Gear knob missing top and worn. Noisy rear wheel bearing. Water light flashing all the time. Missing one parcel shelf strap. Missing 16v grill badge. Crap painted red rear vw badge. Good points: Body is very straight and solid apart from passenger door damage. Headlights/fogs/indicaters are mint for a corrado! Leccy spoiler works! Interior is quite tidy and should clean up well. Full magnex exhaust sytem. All leccy windows/mirrors etc work. Sunroof fully working. Custom dials, nice! New looking front subframe which are now obsolete and bad for rusting! Drives quite well. Hardly any pressure/oil blows out of breather or rocker cover! Full vw service history up to 2004 Every mot cert. First thing was to become an auto-electrician! and fully remove the alarm/immobiliser...All went well and i made sure all the original wiring went back together safely enough to drive it for the time being. We bought a little oil and turned it over and it span over! no alarm or immobiliser stopping it now :D But it was turning very slowly and not firing. So i removed the plugs, all seemed to have burnt quite nicely previously...And i did a compression test. Around 190 on 3 cylinders and 175 on cylinder 1. Checked for a spark which was there...and replaced the plugs after cleaning them up. This time we conected the jump leads direct to the car wiring (leaving the battery out of the equasion). After several attempts....it fired and ticked over very smoothly! It revved fine, apart from under load (misfiring) Took it for a test drive (very carefully due to really badly corroded brake discs) and the steering wheel was literally jumping out of my hand! Got back and removed the 15" sebring wheel to find a spigot ring which wasn't allowing the wheel to seat properly. So we threw on two steelies at the front (Cheers for bringing those Manny!) and test drove again, problem solved. Next issue was coolant leaking from both rad pipes and expansion tank pipe...I twisted the pipes round with the clips to try reseating them and ridding the crystalisation. It worked for both rad pipes...but the exp tank pipe needed chopping and refitting. Next thing was to deceide whether i could risk driving it back home (rad could throw its water out/pipes could burst/could blow up or anything!) So i decided...£225 quid and its worth a shot...I could either try and save it or break it. We borrowed a few bottles of water, and set off home. :) The drive home went absolutely spot on, after throwing some fresh fuel in the misfire seemed to mostly clear, the temp gause sat at 80/90 all the way and it sounded mint! It comes off cold start nicely, ticks over mint and runs really well! Here's some pics anyway....Ive never bought such a heap!

Sorry mate, i can't help further...Just can't understand it, it really dosn't look right to me though. Maybe this pic will help> Clicky here It does list 2 different spring plates... :) number 8. Neil.
-
Nice one, i had my eye on this :D Check throttle switches are operating mechanically and electrically, check for air leaks, and pop the isv off and clean it out with carb cleaner or similar. Neil.
-
Superb mate :D Great to see an n/a corrado on carbs of some sort...Not enough of them imo! Can we get some video footage of it? :D Neil.
-
Damn, TomB beat me to it! :D

May be a silly question, but is the spring on the right way round? That looks a bit dangerous to me Something isn't quite right anyway, but i can't just put my finger on it..Is the seat on the correct way round? any bits missing? I have heard of people using vr6 spring top seats on other models i think...Will have to see if someone can confirm as im not too sure. What model corrado is it? 2.0 16v? Neil.

Hi mate, welcome along :) The heater matrix is a dash out job really...I think you can get away without it...but it just makes things easier to get at with it removed in my opinion. Its not actually a massively hard job, more time consuming id say. Everthing inside the car is pretty self explanatory as far as removal, its just that there are some bolts/nuts in the engine bay holding the dashboard (x2) and another 2 holding the heater box if i remember right. Just a case of taking your time, and working cleanly. Neil. :)

I had 6mm machined off the face of new rear discs and it helped a lot. Its caught twice since doing this, but both times were due to bad roads/the speed. (once on the motorway) It never catches day to day, just those two occasions. Edit:215/40/16's on 9x16's...late style G60. Neil. :)

Tell him its a corra......beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.(he puts phone down) Only joking...If you want to sell it then give him a bell! :)
-
Ill try have a look on etka later mate... Or you could check here for the time being. I know that even when you buy new pump and sender (g60 vdo) from vw that they need slight modification to fit each other, pretty crap really. So you can modify the pierburg g60 sender to fit the vdo g60 pump (thats what most people do iirc) Its a case of cable ties believe it or not...even vw told me that Maybe this means you can just modify the sender to fit the vr6 pump? Neil.
-
Yes, an easy process of elimination...But obviously you may have to tweak the ignition timing after the swap. Mark the dizzy/head before removing the old one to get it somewhere near. Neil. :)
-
^^Yep...thats correct for the G60's...Not sure about the vr6 pump/sender though. Neil.
-
Sounds like the hall sender in the dizzy has possibly broken down...May show up as an intermittent spark if you are checking for one. Neil. :)
-
Well ive decided im going to rebuild my mk1 after 5 years of sitting there as a bare shell...Will definately 16v G60 the corrado at some stage though i think... Neil.
-
If you remove the center tunnel cover (1 screw under rear ashtray/1 screw under handbrake handle) you can wind the nuts up on the cables, they are more than likely stretched though...Loads of corrado's seem to have stretched cables for some reason... Neil.
-
Is the yellow coil unplugged which is sat on the passenger side inner wing? It should be for the low beam to work :) Neil.
-
I hear ya mate  :( Maybe just feck it and replace the lot for peace of mind? Definately worth buying all new bolts/nuts before attempting it though, just incase they are needed :)
-
Aye, it is pretty tight to get in there...The bolt is on the 2nd inlet tract across in the pic 8) Whats the ffs for mate? Spotted a problem ? :(
-
Yep, inlet mani can come off without the rail, you just have to remove the bolt that holds the fpr to the manifold...and obviously the 13mm bolt at the back connecting to exhaust mani :) And it then pulls up and over. Can you manage to knock a socket onto the bolt? Depending which one it is you may need an extension on the socket, pretty tight back there though. Neil.

That is bl00dy brilliant. Best mod here so far me thinks.. I will definately do the same if I go turbo. Don't traffic wardens, ( read failed traffic cops) report you then? And do you put a real one on for the MOT :D Not been pulled by the cops yet for them to get a propper look at it  But i am a little worried when they do eventually spot it! Not gone through an mot with it yet, but there are 2 small mounting holes in the bottom of the bumper for my german plate, or i can use some velcro on the sides of the intercooler hole and mount the plate over the top. :) Here's what its hiding. And you can see where i could put velcro at either side of the hole here... This modification is copyright btw

Thats my thinking guys :D Charged abf! :D The corrado will be coming off the road again as soon as i find a daily driver, so this time the plan of attack may just well be something to finally rid the 3 year+ running problem while adding another 8 valves :) Any idea's on exhausst manifold? and id guess at the valver box being best...But would a vr6 clutch fit? Don't think its big enough? Neil.
