Cool :) It fits nice and snug around the ports, not encroaching or anything, but i guess once squeezed up it could do. Will try get hold of the correct G60 one anyway. :) Gutting that my local gsf branch is closing! Thanks mate. Neil.
-
Edit:Yep, gasket looked fine...Wondered about it being warped? But seems ok. Not good Stu  But bare in mind ive had to run the car with the wot switch cable tied up...They are really carbon'd up, and the tips are white as though its been running hot :? yet rich :?
-
Ive just removed the inlet manifold on the G60, and i have this new gasket knocking about (TOP one in pic) Can i use it? It came as part of the full top end gasket kit when i had the head off. Its not the correct one is it? but it does line up although slightly more tightly around the ports than the bottom one which came off the car. Neil.

Eeek! Would that show up with a compression test though mate? The compression across all 4 cylinders is superb, its so annoying that the engine is a really good lump, never burns a drop of oil or anything

Inlet manifold is off...Nothing untoward with it from what we can tell :( ! One last thing to try on the whole car, knock sensor. It just aint gonna be that though is it :( Rob, Ive had a fuel pressure test with good results...And the fuel pump (genuine vag) filter, lines! and fpr are all new/replaced. :( Ive spoken to Darren at gwerks, steve at pitstop, steve cresswell at c+r, a local mechanic who suggested sticky valve (so thats when i had head off) and a mechanic friend who just said lambda probe. Nobody anywhere in the world knows what it is :(
-
Supercharged, is that available for sale then? Im absolutely skint (lierally living off credit card at mo) but if you can throw me a price inc p+p thats helpfull? :D Removed the inlet manifold...Nothing untoward with it as far as we can tell :( ! Neil.
-
Oh don't worry mate, ive got a valver lump sat there waiting... But its on 45 webers 8) I think if i end up keeping it, ill get to a show or two and then it needs sommet doing engine wise next year anyway i reckon...definately not turbo.Would like an all steel 2.1 on t/bodies or sommet.16v charged would be nice but without the snail  Well...off i go to attack the inlet manifold...hope all goes smoothly.Due at a show in 2 weeks! Neil.

Aye, thread is a mahoosive 37 pages! and ive tried absolutely everything! In fact ive just remembered...ill stick the ign timing back to 6deg instead of the 8deg i tried the other day, without success :( Was thinking of having the inlet manifold pressure tested locally or something...But to be honest im just gonna throw my mates spare one on there...Going up after a brew! Sod the new gaskets for now, its had about 3 sets of inlet/throttle body gaskets anyway the greedy b**stard  Man...I hope to god this is gonna sort it. Neil.

Cheers mate :) I did wonder how long a crack could be there, and not be noticeable while growing under heat expansion/cooling etc... Think its worth a shot given that its pretty much the only part (along with knock sensor) that i haven't changed? Neil.
-
I don't know if its cracked or not yet...But im gonna take it off today and try find out. :) This and a knackered knock sensor are literally the last two things i can try, there simply is nothing else! So has anyone ever heard of cracked G60 inlets? Or reckon its a possability somehow? Cheers,Neil.
-
Has anyone ever had/heard of this? Please tell me your experiences etc. Thanks,Neil. :)
-
Ok. :bad-words: :( Ive literally got two things left to check. Im sick of going over the wiring diagrams and testing for continuity/voltage/resistance etc etc so im gonna stop as everything checks out as it should. :? apart from my fuel pressure switch for over run not working (people run without with no probs) 1/ Knock sensor. 2/ A crack in the inlet manifold or sommet So firstly, when is the knock sensor used? after warm up? the whole time? wide open thr? and how can i test it etc etc. Any! info appreciated. Neil.
-
Cheers mate, discovered the above today after some testing...Was just hoping the fuel pump relay managed between open/closed loop somehow :(
-
And i can indeed confirm all the above as correct after doing some testing. :D Cheers guys, really helpfull info there and explained nice and concisely. :) I think my fuel pump run on problem is the switch on the end of the rail (can't believe people do away with it tbh) as i tried a spare relay (which was indeed located above fuse box :) ) There was no fan run on relay there though, but that does actually work anyway...wherever the relay is :? Im gutted the fuel pump relay does nothing else except power the pump, it was my last and only hope to cure a 3 year running problem :( Apart from knock sensor (but which makes no differnce when unplugged anyway) I guess some of us have learnt sommet new there anyway :) Thanks again...and it was worth a shot i suppose  Neil.
-
 Glad you........eeeeeaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh! .....Ahhhhh, sorted it mate
-
Oh man! That is brilliant!!! :D Cheers mate :) The fuel pump does run, although the after run has stopped working. My car has great fuel pressure, but when turned off...that pressure drops off instantly!!! I think you have just helped me a lot there :D Ive had the fuse box out in the past and can't remember seeing them hanging around i don't think :? And im hoping that the fuel pump relay does more than just power the fuel pump, such as doing something when switching between open/closed loop maybe? Neil.
-
Guys, thats superb thanks a lot :D I had that diagram somewhere but lost it! Yanards, i don't understand the fuel pump run on relay...as i have none at all above the fuse box iirc :? Its not at the passenger side is it? But i thought they were abs relays or sommet? Thanks again guys :D Neil.
-
Oh man i just wrote a reply and it dissapeared :bad-words: Various ways to do it, i leave pressure switch in place and lift rail out with injectors, can be tricky though. Neil.
-
isv off. unbolt fuel pressure switch bracket (two 10mm headed bolts, and 5/6mm allen bolt on back. Remove one allen bolt holding fpr bracket - 6mm. Remove 2x allen bolts holding fuel rail. remove fuel pipes (carefully. remove fuel rail. Job done.Thats just quickly off the top of my head, i really need a pooh so gotta go! ! Neil.

Hello fellow corrado owners/enthusiasts... :D I need to know two things from the below picture...1992 G60. 1/ Which is the fuel pump relay? 2/ Which is the ecu relay? Edit: 3/ Where is the fuel pump run on relay? Edit: 4/ Where is the x-relief relay and what the hell is it? Thanks,Neil.
-
What do we think about the fuel pump relay? Anyone know exactly what it does/how it works...I know they can tend to work a few different circuits like. And anyone know which one it is/what number? Neil.
-
Aye, i would hope so Stu...Just the money...With the problem being as weird as it is, im scared of taking it somewhere like that then having to leave it there etc and getting hit with a big bill especially if they put a few years! labour into it  :(
-
Thanks mate, wish i had the means to take it somewhere right now! Its just the unknown as well, like if i have to leave the car with someone, may need hotel etc...the petrol and wotnot. Will have to see what i can do, really wanted it sorted for v.a.g 2008. Neil.
-
Its a new genuine fuel pump, new fuel filter, and the third or fourth fpr ive tried guys...Can't be fuel pressure as there's nothing left to change pressure wise. And doing the above wouldn't bump the pressure up. Edit:Its even a new fuel line under the friggin car! Neil. :(
-
I wish i could say yes mate, i really do, but im struggling to afford attending the one show i really want to get to :( I really appreciate the help all the way through this thread, I think bit by bit we will get there! So to bring the latest info onto page, erm, 37! The problem dissapears if i: Hold wot switch closed or Connect to a cold bts (with car upto temp) 1/ And we say both of these things make the lambda stop being used? 2/ Do each of those things do anything else? 3/ Does the lambda appear to check out ok from my readings etc? and remember the prob is there with it unplugged. 4/ I have 14v on one lambda heater wire, and the heater earth does indeed run to earth. All sound right? Thanks,Neil.
