  1. Your best off using a proper u-bend fitting for doing this, it's what I'm using on mine. You can get them from G-werks but they are quite expensive. IIRC they are £90 for the U-Bend, but you also need the correct gasket for it which incorporates a the banana shaped spacer bar that you currently have connected to your charger. The gasket is about £35!!! But have a look http://www.g-werks.com/site/Default.asp ... ccessories Its the first product on there - hte Rallye Outlet
  2. Well the gauntlet has been thrown down there, however I dont think there will be too much you could do to the bracket other than to strengthen the welds by welding both sides of each join to reduce some of the flexibility!
  3. Steve's got one of mine there sam, You welcome to test that.[/quote:acd5a] I have actually seen that one Darren - and being honest it looks like it's more than capable of the job. A very sturdy but not solid engine mount. Thanks for the offer Darren, I'll take you up on it and let everyone know how I get on in about a month!!! However I'll get some pics of it for all to see it over the weekend if that's alright with you!
  4. ALSO - Just to answer the get a new bracket comment I have bought a new bracket - BRAND NEW FROM VW. Within 3-4 months I have already found it starting to tear and it is currently almost an inch long!!! The only reason I haven't replaced it AGAIN yet is that the car is away. It is the first on my list of jobs to do along with throwing the engine mount in the bin EDIT - And if any other companies out there want me to test and review an approprite replacement on what is a VERY heavily modified car fueled by a driver with a Lead Right Foot to give it some stick with I will only be too happy to oblige and give reviews!!!!
  5. However - I have had a catastrophic failure of bracket where it completely ripped in half, the only thing that saved my engine was teh strut brace stopping it falling too far. I've always suspected that the engine mount is at fault, especially as the second bracket is now on its way out!!! If someone could have beforehand told me that there is a specific fault on the solid front engine mount from John Mitchell (There - I said it - I'm not afraid!) therefore preventing some SERIOUS damage to my engine then I would be very grateful. From the picture we know that there is a definate fault. So really it's up to John to come on here and state his reasoning. However a major issue is developing with these mounts and ALOT of people are running these. So they NEED to know. John has always come on here (not for a while now though) and has always been more than helpful and always gone out of his way to make sure that people are satisfied with the products he sells. I'm not slagging him off by telling who it is! I'm just stating facts. Often comments on here can be miconstrued on here due to lack of emotion in thread comments as John himself often says. However on this thread no slagging off is occuring, but people need to know that there is an issue and possbile design fault with his product that needs addressing. We would all like to see him do so. My 2p
  6. No The GSF ones are at a VERY good price. They've only started doing them recently. I bought mine before they did and it cost me £250!!!! However do you really need a 90A one?? I put one on mine because I have a Optima Red Top Battery and a power hungry stereo system that mean't I cooked my old standard size battery, therefore needed a BIG battery and a BIG alternator to charge it. I can't see you getting any gains on a standard type battery other than charging will be better. But do you need it??? Unless you have a hungry stereo setup I would say the 65Amp is more than sufficient
  7. Don't think you can actually use your old heater matrix hose as the PS fluid it corrosive and eat through that pipe. When I had to change my hoses to move away from the solid metal colling pipe when I had the FMIC fitted I bought some hose specifically designed for fluids such as PS from a proper hose supplier. Cost me about £5. I'd take a look in Yellow Pages and go from there. Better to be safe that sorry!!!! Also is it a hose that is under pressure?? I don't think it will be going from the resovior to the pump but also best to check as some of the PS pipes are under pressure and that again needs a different grade of hose!
  8. That would explain why I have already ripped one mounting completely in half - and part way through a second And yes I think I know who you are talking about!!!!
  9. The Lanzars in mine sound phenominal for the size and are an excellent option!!!!!!!!!
  10. It was just a double entendre, never been to Nurburg!
  11. The best ones I have ever found and have in mine are Lanzar Neo 46.1 http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... duct=19259 They are IIRC about 100W RMS and sound excellent as rear fill ins. And they fit perfectly without any cutting at all as the magnet is really quite small!
  12. Preferably polished with single inlet to suit the style of my engine bay. Would probably have to be cylindrical to mount on the fixing point on the side of the passenger side turret that houses the strut! Any suggestions PS. I know there are loads on egay, but I dont like any of them!!!
  13. Blue_Joe

    arrrgghhhh

They are a right arse!!!! F*** off the manifold and downpipe completely and get a 4 Branch!!!
  14. And the classic..... "Often I put the rear seats flat, this reduces weight." LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Come on guys and girls - Is no-one up for a group buy here???????
  16. It's not for my alloys - It's for my Ali Alternator cover and timing belt cover!
  17. I'd happily grab onto them!!!!
  18. That glisten PC is DAMN expensive though
  19. Steve - I've seen the state of the engine, it's half a cm deep in about a year or so's caked on oil. I would have thought the only thing to shift all that would be gunk. It may be potent and smell - but it does the job!!!
  20. When you polish Ali parts such as wheels and such like, to prevent me from having to repolish them every month what laquer can I use to spray on (preferably in can form!) that will permanantly protect it??
  21. Gunk!!!!!! Just make sure you cover your Distributor and any other vital electrical components
