That drives more like a hovercraft with all that sideways motion!!!! It's just nuts!
-
Where do you get that from it's mental!!!!!!
-
Jim Just off subject - YOU SELLING???????? How come????
-
You actually get to around 65mph in 2nd with VR gears. This is better as with standard G60 gearing you can only get to around 55mph in 2nd and therefore making 0-60 times slow due to 2 gear changes.
-
Changing the gears for VR 1st and 2nd cost wise is a difficult one. It all depends if you can get a good quality VR box at a decent price second hand. Ive done it and managed to pick up a box that the casing was damaged but the gears inside were like new. I got that at the rediculousy low price of £55 from ebay. Thats a bit of luck on my part as they will usually go for quite a bit more. If you were to buy the gears new you need the input shaft (which has 1st & 2nd on it) then the opposing 1st and 2nd, reverse and the IIRC the 5th gear retaining pin, I think thats it, however that will cost you well into £600 from the stealers. Then you need a reputable gearbox boffin to take apart both geaboxes and build the one. Vince at stealth is the best for this. He charges again IIRC about £750 for the complete rebuild (replacing synchromeshes etc) plus if you bought a secondhand VR box another £75 to strip that one to get the parts out. Just remember though, if you bought a secondhand box, there is no guarantee to the condition and usability of the gears inside!!

Going for 17's Thanks for the advice Darren! Stuck now!!! Really fancying a dished wheel, however looks like that isn't going to happen without wpending mega bucks on Rh's which not really want the only others I like seem to be OZ Superturismo's or AEZ Parons

Think I prefer the E's fella

Hi All Just a quick one - I think it's time for a new set of rims more in keeping with the rest of the car. A bit more german with a bit of a dish! Thought of Borbet Design E's any thoughts???? Also any other suggestions? Also these are 8" What size tyres are best is it 215's as I've got brand new 205 eagle f1's on mine at moment. Finally, does anyone know what the best offset is when trying to clear Brembo 4 pot calipers
-
Andi - That looks more like where a mod has edited it, namely VR6 not an actual signiture but your the boss and I may be wrong!!!!
-
OIr you could always try looking in the suppliers forum under South. He's in there
-
Will 13's go over the brakes on a G60 as they are 288mm Brakes on the G60 - bigger than the 16V's
-
You can also get the sump gasket baffle from GSF car parts for the 4 cylinder. That'll do the trick. However your profile doesn't say whether you have a 4 cylinder or a VR6
-
If I remember correctly you should have 2 slightly different handles!!!!

I tend to find having the steering wheel above the pedals and infront of me when driving a big help!!:)
-
I fell in love with my steering wheel the minute I saw it in a magazine. It's the Momo Trek R, however it definatly isn't a cheaper alternative to the Millenium as is a fair bit more.......but worth every penny However there is the latest version of the Millenium out now that is also very nice....

24V Renshaw - 24V V6 - Just read the whole thread!!!!
Blue_Joe replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
Well when you look at most of what you want bearings, ball joints etc. The GSF ones are all made by ZF Lemforder who supply the manufacturers ( they are one of my customers!!) It's only going to be perhaps the sump, engine cover and main brive bearings maybe the gaskets that you can't get there (although you could probably get them from KMS) and if it's all the same as the stealers, you'll probably save another £100 or so on top of that so always worth trying. However if you have got some cash burning a hole in your pocket, I've got a custom made intercooler and throttle body setup going into my motor next week and at about £1700 I could do with a donation!!!!!! :) -

Have you not thought of getting all that from GSF - probably save you a bundle!!! -
Ahhhhhh I see Well I'll leave that for a while as I have brand new calipers on the back!

Just out of interest, what is the Mk4 Rear Brake conversion. Whats the difference between standard G60 and Mk4's. I have Brembo 305mm on the front and have alsways thought the rears to be a bit weeney with all the mods I've done to my motor!!
-
Well you see the issue I had with Awesome was that I actually ordered 15mm but they buggered up my entire £850 order and that was just one of the C**k ups!
-
The only problem with 10mm spacers is that the wheels will no longer be supported on the hub by the lip that they locate on. This puts excess strain on the wheel bolts. It's ok, but far from ideal. Really you need hubcentric spacers. I have (I think) 35 offset wheels and to clear my Brembo Brakes and to fill out the arches I bought 20mm hubcentric spacers from Awesome GTI at £45 per set then had 5mm taken off by a reputable metal turning company. This is much safer than using cheap shimms that you can by from the various motor factors. Also for anything more than 5mm spacers you will need to buy longer wheel nuts than standard otherwise they won't screw in enough and you really are going to get overtaken by your own wheels!!!!!!!! Finally if you do use 15mm hubcentric (you definatly could not take hubcentric spacers down to 10mm) you will need to roll the rear arches. I have to have it done on mine, even using FK silverline plus coilovers as it starts to cut into the tyres a bit.
-
They will just fit under the 16" Rims - as for the spacers, it depends on the offset and spoke design. Just make sure that if the spacers are anything over 5mm that you get hubcentric spacers, otherwise there just not worth risking the bolts shearing off if you give it too much stick!

Henny - If you're interested I have a Brand New G60 90 Amp alternator up for sale at the moment (I've not sold it yet as I keep forgetting to put it in parts for sale!!) That should be big enough for the job
