Do the cables need lubricating with anything? Also found that my left hand part which does the tilt part is really really tight as it tries to slide through its cut out guide area.... Hmmm
-
I've ordered some. I'll let you know
-
£29 for some grease!!! at vw. Wow, and there can't be much that needs greasing. Anybody use/do anything different?
-
Yeah I read that yesterday. For some strange reason it started to tilt one side on it's way to close. I need to check all is good b4 I fit it. I've even got another motor on the way...

I've just purchased another blooming sunroof. I cleaned and fitted it yesterday, but it suddenly wouldn't close properly and managed to scratch the opening hatch. Ahhhhhh. So today I've properly taken it apart and as the picture shows, a guide tab is broken. Question is are these really important, as one of the very front sliders that fits over the wind deflector is also broken on one tab... Also does anyone know of a decent lubricant/grease for all of this and what bits do I lube up??? [emoji35]

If they don't have the sunroof, give me a shout please.
-
If any left, count me in also please

Do you still have the sunroof motor available?
-
That's a 2nd recommendation for them. It's looking good👍

Easypops, who did you deal with in America?
-
They definitely look the part. I started a thread the other day titled 'VR front brake shield' with other people's replies. I've even contacted other companies in America but no one seems to want to ship here. Otherwise I'd buy ten sets for us...Well done in finding those
-
Well I'm happy to give it a coat of paint. Does removing it from the gearbox involve lots of mess...
-
I also managed to get the heat shield from heritage. I've given it a couple of coats of paint before I fit it, so hopefully it won't fall apart like the previous one. I'm still undecided on the driveshafts, but may very well go for the J and R ones as they're a great price,2 yr warranty and it says oe spec.

That's what I was originally sold as fitting mine. No way does it fit the VR model. They'd definitely why vw list the other part number
-
What was your part number?? I managed to get the last 3A0615312 from veedubmachine and that fits mine perfectly. But I still need the other side. Be good if someone could template them
-
Unfortunately both obsolete. I've phoned lots of companies and still no joy. I'm going to try looking at mk4 golf/ Bora ones as they seem similar. I'll let you know. if I find someone who stocks them locally I can offer up old against New and hopefully get a near match. But if you manage to find some, please let me know. As this is going to affect all VR owners...Good luck

I've also been looking. Turns out the vw part number for these are 3A0 615 312 3A0 615 311

The Link above from dox looks good.

Which ones are you thinking of using. And don't go getting the last ones[emoji23]

I have most of the front underside of my car off at the moment. All being nicely replaced or repainted. My concern is my outer cv joints. I wasn't going to replace them (probably because I've never changed one b4, and to cut down on cost) How can I tell if they are worn? I can hold the drive shaft, pull on the joint and it makes a slight 'click' noise. Is this normal/acceptable. I suppose I should just bite the bullet and change them as The car has done 122k.... Just wondering what people's thoughts are? I am replacing the suspension, brakes, bearings, wishbones etc......
-
Is this the one you mean? I don't have any spare, but the numbers on it are 33590-01622 KD56902 Don't know if that helps, but these are on my 95 VR. Although these could be wrong but I took them off of the original rubber brake houses
-
Be nice if we could find someone to pattern part these. Perhaps vw heritage is the way.. Something needs to be done
-
When you say dubmachine, is that veedubmachine? As I can't find anything else on Google. If it is them, that's where I got this one from. Seems we may have got the last ones. You a complete pair luckily
-
Thanks for looking. Atleast I know what I'm definitely looking for. I've tried the other splash shields and it just doesn't quite line up. I'm sure with some slight drilling and cutting I could make it happen, but I would like to find the 311 part, until I give up the search

I've looked at the link posted above. It states for item 10 on an ABV engine car that 3A0615312 and 3A0615311 are the items. Or am I reading it wrong! . Where did you get your fronts from?
