New vs old Done and working. Hopefully I won't have any issues. Thanks people
-
I've got it out. ..white and definitely no part number on it, so I'm assuming it is a pattern part...
-
Have a look on the group buy. I got mine a couple of months ago. All good

My ignition switch is WHITE. Is this likely to be a copy part or genuine? As I've got the dash out I'm thinking this could be a good time to replace after reading the problems it causes for people. Thoughts please[emoji51]

How did you get the sticky stuff off? -
Excuse me if this has been asked b4.. If on a late model Rhd corrado the heater control switches the speed switch is on the right On a lhd model the speed switch is on the left. Bear with me. .... I've just taken parts off a 95 plate rhd polo and the heater control part has the speed switch on the left. Does this mean on a lhd polo of the same age the speed switch would be on the right and perfect for our Corrado's. Just a thought. If you can work it out hopefully the picture below shows a corrado switch with the rhd polo switch in front of it

And made in the UK

I got mine made up by 'thebraidedhoseshop ' a seller on ebay. Cheaper than the goodridge and able to put on Any end you need. Which was perfect as I had upgraded to mk4 calipers.

The mk3 golf unit is a direct replacement and if it is a later corrado the motor plug is the rectangular perfect fit. What the golf mechanism can not do is to tilt or slide the inner corrado trim panel. I managed to change some of the slider parts after a complete clean and overhaul to rescue my 2nd corrado version. The glass roof panel of the golf isn't the perfect contoured fit. Ask on here what people use as the moonroof. (Passat or golf)

I'll take the rear parcel shelf supports if all the fixing tabs are intact please
-
The hardest bit is finding the replacement parts. Obsolete so find a breaker.. or the Easier route is to go with a mk3 golf. Lots of info on here to help you choose which way you want to go. I managed to repair mine with the parts from a mk3 luckily. Its not always that easy.

I've just done my front suspension and subframe on my vr6. That seemed relatively simple with research on here. Don't know about the engine gearbox bit as that would need more than axle stands and trolley jacks. Nothing is impossible with the right tools. Is a good time to have things cleaned and powder coated b4 putting them back on tho. Take lots and lots of photos. From different angles. .. I hate forgetting how something should fit

Does anyone have 1 of these Shiny gold speed nut fixings for the speedo surround please I Have one missing!!
-
Should all vr's have a black cap? Mines got a blue one!! But it's a sod fit
-
That's good news if veedub still do them. The price may be interesting .. €££$$

Finished. 2 hrs work. All clean and looking ready to go back in. I had been looking at acquiring the right foam or felt to refurbish the inner flaps with. Definitely happy with swapping for the polo covered flaps and fitted the shiny valeo unit at the same time. I hope this helps others ☺
-
Hopefully it's looking better and when finished won't spit deteriorated foam at me. [emoji16]

I've just removed my heater box to refurbish the vent flaps etc and fix a new bottom fixing screw into the unit. As luck may have it a P plate polo was at my work and we could cut it up. As I've had no look getting the bulkhead fixings, I looked and these were the same. Result. 1 vw polo heater box in my possession. I will say they have sorted the dodgy cog mechanism we corrado ' have but more importantly the flaps inside the boxes are covered in a better material and look to be exactly the same sizes. Okay its still old but better than my deteriorated ones. I've taken the mad decision and have split my box in two (surprisingly easy) and am cleaning and doing the swap. If I were good with plastic welding I think I would change to this mechanism. .. what has surprised me is this 1.4 polo has a VALEO heater matrix 1H2819031A which is the same as in a spare corrado box I'm stripping for a cog..

Result. I may have to tow mine in ha ha

Jonesyraddo I'm over at Aston/ Sheffield if ever you fancy seeing a slow rebuild. And every colour corrado is beautiful. That's corrado biased I know

I'm trying to find who I got mine made up by. He was on ebay, made me up what I wanted and with what ever end I needed. Cheaper than the goodridge thankfully
