dropped my 2.0 16v recently. You need to be careful as to what car the kit you are using drops 40mm. In other words - the first set I bought was a 40mm drop kit. It fits G60, 1.8s and 2.0s. This kit was said to bring the G60 down 40mm. But the 1.8 is higher (as standard) than the G60, and the 2.0 is higher again. So that 40mm kit would have actually been nearer 60mm lower than standard. In the end I went for the weitec VR6 kit. It is also a 40mm drop kit. But again, the VR6 is lower than the 2.0 in standard form. So you'd expect the kit to be >40mm drop on mine. But the engine is lighter - so the drop becomes less again. No real science here to give an excact drop figure...... but if it helps - before & after pics / measurements of mine on this thread. http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... ght=weitec Unless of course you're going for coilovers - in which case all of the above is irrelevant!!!

navigate to ...... kew gardens. bosh ..... done! navigate to ........ santa pod. bosh.......... done! navigate to nearest cash point . bosh.......done! tell me when the ba*tard gatsos are coming up ....... bling blong - 'SLOW DOWN' sold all my other gadgets (fast car - expensive stereo etc) just don't think i could go back to paper maps now!

yup - I've been running tomtom 2 BT since december and think it's a fappin marvelous for the price. only down side is that unlike my old Alpine system - you can't add in waypoints to take a specific route. have heard quite a few people complain about bluetooth recievers though. If I hads the choice again would probably go for a wired antenna. Check out pocketgps.co.uk ......... forums for all brands ........ http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/modules.php? ... a60ff1e1d9 - and BT seems to cock up on quite a few (40% !)

try the S2 forum ........ http://www.s2forum.com/forum They've tried most of the pads out there & you should be able to find p/numbers for most. Just don't buy the ferodo ds2500 pads. Although they are great pad, they don't fit the caliper - despite the box saying they will.

Cheers for the advice so far guys. Had all the ancillary belts off at the weekend to try to identify where the noise was coming from. Still there even with water & pas pumps disconnected. Had the drivers side wheel off & noise seemed loudest down by the crankshaft rather than the top of the engine bay. RE the above - if timing was out, surely the noise would be there the whole time & not disappear after 1 minute of driving?? Any more suggestions - or is it a call to the nearest engine rebuilder? Annoying thing is I can never demo the noise without leaving the engine to cool for >4 hours ...........

genuine ones ??? - expensive! My local breaker has recently stripped an Audi RS2 (the one with porsche wheels, manifold, mirrors & brakes) and is asking ~ £250 for the pair! Probably require a bit of metal trimming on your doors for the brackets to mount - & possibly a weld tack to hold the mounting nuts in place?? . Check http://www.s2forum.com to see how the S2 owners modded their cars for 911 (RS2) mirrors

Anyone ever done anything different with their Head Units?
yalan replied to Shilakadaddy's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
or you could cut au a crappy old HU and make a fake face to put on top........ I don't think ANYONE would be able to tell my HU isn't actually a 1994 bottom of the range Panasonic cassette deck! -

you can get little blanking plates from Halfords. IIRC they are textured and the exact right size for the aperature. Sold for those people who don't want a stereo at all but don't want a gaping hole. When I was at uni I had my HU bolted down in the glovebox (in my golf). Then took an Alpine remote apart and put the IR transmitter inside the glovebox & the controls out by the gearstick. You could still control the major features with the glovebox lid closed. Left the standard slot empty too. Who's going to want to break into a car without any stereo at all! Unfortunately no pics...... wasn't alot to see really! -
here you go...... this sort of thing: http://www.paintshield.co.uk

eyelids??? anyway - can't you get that sticky backed plastic to protect vulnerable bits? You know the stuff.....armor guard or armor fend or something like that.....? sticks onto clean paint & peels off safely when needed. I thought new porsches come with it fitted as an option down the sides??
-
yeah - not bad actually. Took a little while to stop things resonating but got there eventually! The 1/2 covered cone didn't seem to be a problem though - perhaps because there was a gap of >3". With the grille in place you'd have to own the car to recognise it wasn't OEM! Benefit is that it keeps the boot entirely free of electronics (apart from the 6 channel genesis!). Which in turn keeps the other half sweet & the boot available for tescos mush.
-
something along these lines then...... Sounded quite reasonable too considering there was no sub in the boot. (these were the genesis 6x9 subs)

seem to remember similar problems with the old audi. Again, new aeriel units were around £60 so one of the guys did some research: 'The Vauxhall part number is 90389799 which costs £18.66 + VAT. The roof mounting is the same. You will just need to put a different terminal on to match the Audi one. Should save you about £40.' anyone care to give it a hack?
-
hey - I like it alot..... too many people have issues with white cars - but like my old MKII golfs, yours looks great in white! The rear spoiler also works for me - quite cosworth like - but yet still in keeping with what else you've done there. Again - never understood the bra thing - it's gonna get chipped anyway & if you can't enjoy looking at it's clean lines 90% of the time, what use is an immaculate paintwork? (unless I really don't get how bad the roads are over there!) cheers! Al.

30mm regular six sided nut on my 2.0 16v - have my socket sat here .... halfords deep impact drive variety. VR6's use larger shafts?
-
hmm ..... know what you mean! All well & good when things go according to plan - but that CV boot change a couple of weeks ago nearly scuppered me! cut the old boot off but couldn't get the joint off the shaft. with the boot cut off & the hub in pieces I wasn't keen to drive it anywhere. All on sat afternoon - everywhere was closed & no-one on the forum could help. So what do you do.... ..? (hammer the feck out of it!) Having said that - it is the only way to learn & it is quite satisfying!
-
it shares the same metal panel? odd, as the glass panel is definately a slightly different shape to the new glass roof. Whilst they do look the same shape when you campare one to another, its not until you fit them up to the aperture till you notice the slight variations. It does fit - just seems to need a bit of shimming to get it looking acceptable. mine currently looks alot like : just wondered how other 'been there done thatters' found theirs...... ? EDIT: with a little shimming (ie 2 washers on the front 4 bolts and 1 washer on the next row back) all is looking good now. I reckon you'd be hard pushed to spot it as an aftermarket swapover. HAPPY DAYS!
-
guys - has anyone else needed any shimming on their B4 Passat moonroofs? I've just got mine in & am quite disappointed with the alignment on the front edge. Back side lines up perfectly and the sides do likewise. Even the front corners line up OK, but then it all goes wrong and starts to get misaligned on the front edge - culminating in a 4-5mm bulge in the middle. I've seen on http://www.geocities.com/corradomoonroof/a3.html website, that the guy has had similar experiences with the A3 moonroof, but I've not found any comments about the Passat moonroof having the same problems. ??? The front edge has been adjusted with the torx bolts as low as it will go ..... just not enough :( shimming the only answer?
-
suppose it pulls it off nice & straight..... When I finally got mine off, yyou could see that the circlip had been far tighter on one side than the other. I guess however much you try to hammer each side evenly, hammering would never be as good. bet those things cost a few quid though...... ?
-
so just like a big slide hammer then ....... ? nice idea I suppose. Wonder how much easier it would have made mine. Would still have pulled the entire shaft out though!
-
easy job - if you can get the joints off! mine were stuck fast & took 3hours of severe battering to free. Not fun. The rest of the job is relatively easy though....... you might be lucky ...... you might have a real PITA on your hands! £112? ... depends how much your time is worth! Got the tools to undo / redo driveshaft nuts to required torque?
-
that pick-up looks great! (you need to copy paste the links into your browser)
-
yes - my coolant lamp was lit since i bought the car. Eventually bought a new expansion bottle from GSF (stupidly cheap) and the light has not come on since. And it looks prettier. God only knows how the old 'sensor' broke ..... its only a couple of wires dangling down into the fluid..... ? !
-
ha-ha - bloody 'ell no, not 70 on a spacesaver! But anyway - back to the point - can you put a 115 tyre on a rim designed for 125s ???
