cheers for the MC size info..... but am still looking for piston size ...... Anyone got a spare one sitting in their garage they could take a vernier to??? EDIT: measured my own: 53.8mm (ISH) Meaning that boxster / boxster S / 996 rear calipers are absolutely no use due to their piddly small pistons - almost half the combined fluid volume they'd need to be as useful replacements for OEM parts.
-
can anyone tell me what size the piston is on the 16v calipers? Just want to work out whether the master cylinder is more up to the job of driving a set of front or rear 4-pots off a porker. Cheers.
-
Yeah - it is black - and does look good when clean (which isn't very often!) I do think the 16v was pretty much spot on when it left the factory so I'm quite happy sticking with the original 15s - especially when rubber only sets you back ~£30 a corner! If you're looking for side a side on pic of estorils to photoshop, you canuse THIS one.
-
I changed from OZ back to standard estorils. Cost me ~£200 from a forum member. A spot of black paint or diamond polishing and they look Good!

I've managed to balls up my chance of owning a Corrado...

60? - Really? - never new that..... -
Heres my before and after on a '93 16v..... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12410 Other pics: Before After Susp Kit came in at £240, but bith all the new top mounts, bump stops, dust guards and top plates it was nearer £360. Front spoiler still catches regularly, but ride is quite reasonable.

Same as above - were with HIC for 3 years, but got sick of their ridiculous hold times and increasing renewal quotes every year - this year they wanted about a 30% increase. Flux gets my vote so far.............
-
I also try to use Snap-on where possible..... really like using them tools! I have two 'magic' screwdrivers though which put my snap-on ratchet driver to shame though..... one flat (which I found in my landrover ~ 8 years ago) and one philips (which I found in a breakers yard a similar time ago). Both are completely unphased by the serious abuse I give them and are made by Kamasa. I like alot!

Indeed you don't - but from what I've heard, most puncture repairers won't fix a tyre which has been filled with that gooey paste. I know its a rare occurrence but I'd just feel like such a tw*t if I had to call the AA out because I had a rusty screw half embedded in my tyre. And have you heard about the audi TT? It also has a spacesaver in the boot. But the full size (punctured) wheel won't fit in the boot. So they give you a little PVC bag to put the (punctured) wheel in so you can pop it on the passenger seat. - Great - unless you already have a passenger in the passenger seat! Roofrack anyone?
-
Yup - you're absolutely right about trying to find one at a breakers! The tyres for the corrado spacesaver were apparently only made by conitinental in that size and I've been told by both VAG dealers and independent tyre places that they're out of production now. Similar vintage audis also had 15" spacesavers but were different widths (typical seeing as these are common as muck!) I ended up buying a second hand tyre from a VAG main dealer for £30! moral of the story? -dont drive too far on your spacesaver !
-
Yup - mine was the VW001 GT corrado kit (supposedly for the VR6). Also bought their 'comfort pack' consisting of suspension top plates top mount bushes dirt shields MK4 front bumpstops strut top mounts top mount plates rear bump stops total came in at £360 inc VAT Ride isnt too bad on day to day driving but can be a bit jolting over poor roads.

here you go........ my 9A 16 on non-adjustable weitecs...... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12410 and..........

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE
yalan replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
'scuse my ignorance - but to these repair kits fix 'loose' and 'wobbly' door handles which do not spring back in properly? -
dialynx shortie - one of those would set you back a good chunk of cash..... but it does do 60 in 2.37 seconds! street legal too!

naa- friend of mine has just traded up from his S2 to an RS2......and paid £11K......beautiful! However, you can pick up S2s from as little as £3k and with just a couple of hundred bring them up from 220/230 to 280bhp. 4WD. Turbo. Audi. S3s are gorgeous - but imho arn't worth it yet (well to me at least - but then I'm pikey!)

I just quit my job in the automotive industry. Ended up just being sat infront of a computer 8 hours a day 5 days a week (with a couple of trips abroad most months) Nothing to get hands dirty with though....... I do get to say I played a small part in the DB9 though! (and the ST fiesta!) If you like the idea of working for the ford family try Jonathan Lee recruitment to get in the doors through agency work.

mine sold at Autotek 4 years ago for £9,000 Depreciation, 50k miles & a few scrapes later...... I bought it this year for £1800. sorry I've got nothing more useful to say RE Autotek!!
-
here you go mate...... viewtopic.php?t=12410 I used the VR6 kit on my 16v . Apparently the kit designed for the G60 will take ~60 or 70mm off though...... way too low for me!
-
even from your guys? - yeah, that is the one. Asking £2K I was under the impression that it was 90% 190 stock parts...... .... or is it the other 10% (engine parts) which'll break the bank ?
-
yeah - but I like it ....... ! - financial suicide methinks! [/img]

can any one tell me what can make a 16v engine's exhaust gasses to blow hot & cold? Just been to see a car which has a bit of a bouncey idle (when the engines been running 25 mins or so). When I put my hand in the exhaust, the temperature of the gasses went quite clearly from hot to cold to hot every time the idle bounced. I can't even imagine how this is possible from a hot engine. ??? cheers!

The length that you would go to sell a car!!!!!
yalan replied to Bora Bora's topic in General Car Chat
great ...... but I've spent a couple of minutes looking at the site now and still can't see a price ........ ......'its a fair price'........ what is????? -
I swapped a set of 15" alloys with my local breaker for a passat glass roof. (they wanted about £80 cash) Took it apart, cleaned it & greased all the moving parts & it fits just fine. It needed some adjustment (added washers to the mounting points to lower it a little) but it looks spot on now. Downsides: Increased wind noise (unless you close the blind) You don't want to chuck a bucket of water over the roof - The slightly larger gaps around the edges allow water into the car more easily & the drain channels inside aren't able to cope! Have never had any leaks with rain though! All in all - very happy!

new face plates are stupidly expensive....... but if you just need a fault repairing, Alpine service dept is pretty good. To my knowledge, it is fixed rate for Head units, regardless of fault. £57 rings a bell. give em a bell on 01908 619 503......
-
Absolutely right...... It won't affect your NCB, but if you tell them you've made a claim on someone else's policy, it is still one of the factors which can affect your base premium...... loads of things can affect the base rate..... and this is just one way of them hikeing your premium without you doing any wrong. --- A neighbour of mine reversed into my audi whilst I was asleep upstairs. Put it through her insurance & my policy went up ~£100.... (according to adrian flux, this incident made me statistically more likely to have a fault accident in the next 12 months!) - go figure!!!
