You'll only need a few bits to convert it. VR6 engine loom, Ecu and a handfull of bits from a dead VR engine (probably best to get a VR gearbox to!) It s a little more work but very 'do-able'
-
HAHA Cheers Andy. Its yet to be 100% prooved but we'll see what it does on the rollers!

Thanks guys. As for which VR it has to be a coilpack equiped VR. I'm not up to speed on which is OBD1 or OBD2 (i didn't think any VRs were OBD2?) but mine WAS a '94 M reg.

Thanks. it been a sh!t load of work and research to get it sorted but once I'd done all the background work it was so worth it to fit it all up and go turn the key (with no ecu changes and have the car fire up and settle to an idle straight away, it was an awesome feeling! Its difficult to say price wise. As is, without the Cam control I'm aiming at a £500 kit. The cam control is a little more complicated so this could possible add another £100-200 If I were to prep the engine I would need the new engine and the vr6 engine, and it would 2 days work. So looking at £750ish (including the kit) To do a complete engine conversion ready to collect (without ecu mapping) then we’re probably looking at 1300-1500 depending on how you wanted the engine bay to look (MK4 look with air box (1500 ish), relocated power steering reservoir etc or engine fitted cone filter (1300) So if you gave me your car on a Friday with an AUE engine (which can be had for 500-600!) and a suitable exhaust manifold (dubpower?) you could be looking to drive away the following Friday all done for under 2K! (no can control, no mapping(although I could get this done at cost as Stealth , MRC and AMD are local to me) But with all things this early on these are all conservative estimates and the more people interested in this the cheaper the part will be for me to get made so the cost would come down. I will have mine finished by the end of may so I will be able to let you know how it is and you’ll be able to see the engine bay etc. Cheers Doug

Afternoon fellas, A feeler this one, but I have sucessfully managed to get the 24v engine running from the VR6 engine management and have developed a kit of parts for doing this. The result is the conversion can be done in a weekend and be ready for mapping on the Monday! I've yet to get mine mapped but I'm confident the results will be good (it currently runs and idles as normal but is a little rich due to the bigger inectors). I should have it mapped by the end of May so more news and results will follow. My question is this: are people interested in either buying the kit of parts, or if you bought your 24V to me I could modify it ready to fit. I might also be able to offer to do the complete conversion but I need to make some garage space or I'll be single pretty quickly! (this is only for VR6 engined cars) I have currently only done this to an AUE engine but once mapped this conversion will be for sale (so register your interest!) after I have developed the kit on the R32 engine I have and which will be fitted later. It controlls the variable inlet but I'm still working on a device to control the cam advance, however this can be retro fitted at any time. I will be getting it mapped with and without cam control as a comparision. I expect to see that this does not affect overall power but improves the torque curve. I'm not going to divulge how it is done or what it includes (so please done ask) but it works and can be seen running if you wish to view it (should have a video in a few weeks). If your interested let me know and I will get an idea of how many parts I will need to get made and should be able to work out rough costs at that stage. Oh and it works with the standard Corrado dials with all rev counter MFA/MPG functions working 100% !!! Cheers Doug

ok I see. so all the later cars with coil packs have this later number as the other one is only distrubuter cars? You would have thought the dopey dealler would have been able to tell me that! anyway thanks for the help I will get about ordering one. Cheers
-
nice one, cheers I called into the stealers on the way home tonight and they seamed to list two numbers and needed my vin (seams dealers cant go to the loo without a vin!) does anyone know what the difference is?
-
I aways do this! the actuall info may be handy! part number for the sender ring on a '94 VR6 corrado
-
WOW, first post for quite a while! I have finally got back around to playing with the Corrado! harrah Could anyone with access to EKTA help me out please? I need the part number for the above part. Its the sender ring that mounts on the the end of the camshaft. Cheers Doug PS also if anyone has an early 24v cam cover I need one of those....
-
Hmmm thought so. Looks like there a little problem with mine (re wired the engine bay after a wire melt down courtesy of the lighting loom!) mine got up to just under 110 and no fan...? any ideas/ways to check the temp switch etc?? Cheers Doug
-
Just a quicky , hopefully,....! does anyone know the temp the fans are supposed to come on at? I have a '95 Corrado VR6 Cheers Doug

Electrical problems JUST saved from burning to the ground!!!
tribetype40 replied to tribetype40's topic in Exterior
thanks, but its worse.... I've dug around taken dash out actually most of the interior is out of the car now so I can see the harness. No idea what the cause is and will be difficult to determine as I have deiscoved the whole LH lighting harness has cooked! looks like it the side light that could be the cause as thats the wire thats most affected. Oh forgot to mention I got a new fuse box, switch and switch loom replaced that and still the problem happened (although I was ready for it and 'pulled the plug' when it got warm). so looks as though I need a new engine bay lighting loom... and defo worth replaceing the column switch (theres something not right with the cr!p parking light system - with the indicator but I cant get my head round it) Thing is its difficult to tell if anything I find now was the cause or is a result of the cause...... bu99er -

thanks supercharged. I hope it is what you suggest! so does it just burn out the wires from the switch to the fusebox? or does the whole thing light up like a bulb element.... I couldn't really see or be bothered with it to be honest as its bitterly cold out there and p!ssing with rain so thought I'd just miss tomorrow off work to get it sorted after clearing enough space to get it in the garage where I will be hugging the heater! Cheers Doug -
Phew, that was close. On my way home today I was getting flashed by everyone, pulling over I found I had no rear lights! got home and had a look about thinking it was just a bust bulb, but both lights? anyway tested the bulbs, one was good one was bad, so must be that one blew and popped the fuse. Fitted a new bulb and replaced the fuse went back and checked the rear lights both working - great. However going back to replace the fuse cover I was greeted by a horrible smell. WTF! sticking my head in the footwell I could see the fuse was boiling!!!!!! quickly pulled it out but the car was full of smock by now and the lights were stuck on. I quickly pulled the trim off under the dash and pulled the fuse box out to get a better look only to find a bunch of wires melted and still smoking. so opened the bonnet and quickly disconnected the battery. thats where I am know. Cr*p was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and if it was obvious what caused it. Failing that I will have to pull it all of and chasae/rewire the whole lighting system (and any other damaged wires) so if anyone has cabin loom suitable for a '95 VR6 please let me know oh and a new fuse box as mine looks a little melted now! Thanks for your help. Doug

Interesting stuff guys, so (looks to cheesewire and crazydave....) what set up would you suggest if I want to achieve power (nothing too crazy) say 350-380 BHP, minimal lag (so, good turbo) full boost somewhere low like 2.5k rpm and not above 3k rpm...? by charge cooling I figure the inlet can be much shorter which should reduce the potential for lag? Also wheres best to buy the spacer head gasket (do you need to add links to the timing chain?), arp bolts etc? Cheers Doug
-
Hi, Is there any VR6 turbo owners out there in the Oxfordshire/Banbury area? its something I would like to think about doing but before I commit I would like to experience what the end result is. So if anyone is about and doesn't mind talking me through their installation and taking me for a spin round the block it would be much appreciated. Actually I live not far from Stealth so that may be a good place to meet if anyone is going there soon. Cheers, Doug

any links to a rotrex kit? or what spec charger I will need to look out for?
-
hi, I always forget this! I have a '95 VR6 Storm
-
Hi fellas, Considering more power, just sold the Esprit and returned to the trusty corrado so finding it 'quick' but theres no push in the back. Not really interested in the turbo route as I didn't really like the whole lag thing. So, supercharging.... I've read a fair bit on here particularly on the forced induction thread but that seemed to bounce around alot between turboing and charging and people part way through building or chasing big HP. I'm not interested in big HP but getting a health shove in the back will be a welcome upgrade. I dont have much time so would be looking at a straight forward kit install. What I would like is peoples feedback the kits they have fitted. Is it worth it etc?? is the vf vortech kit the only one available? Cheers, Doug

GOOD POINT! VR6
-
I would like to hear from anyone whos done extensive top end tuning to weigh up the effectiveness of the mods. Considering a big valve head, ported polished etc and some cams. There seem to be a few different profiles available so good to hear from people who have or have tried different set ups. cheers, Doug
-
If anyone has the above available/spare etc could you please get in touch with a price. many thanks, Doug PS (would a Mk G60/Rallye rack be the same???)

cheers dude!
