  1. That is pretty weak that the charger blew right after you got the car. like BigEastsideVWG60 said, make sure you have all of the metal flake and everything out of the intercooler and the tubing. Check the oil for metal bits; if there is anything in there flush the oil a few times to try and get everything out of it. Good choice going with the Lysholm charger! They are loud, but they make great boost and are 20% more efficient than the G-Ladder charger the car comes with. They also make a silencer kit for the car as well that silences the charger 70%. My roommate and myself are both getting Lysholm chargers from BBM around February of next year for our G60’s. I think the problems people were having with BBM over there in the UK were shipping issues. They were getting the better service when they asked for the slow boat and were being charged for it. if you order something over seas, 90% of the stuff is shipped air. Most companies here in the US will not ship something over a certain value with the slow boat service because of its value and unreliability. The guys at the company are super friendly and quite helpful. I have gotten quite a few products from them and have been quite happy with the results. Hope this helps. :)
  2. Nice... I thought the blue Corrado next to the one with the roll cage in it had a unique bumper...the removed the fog lights and had the bumper filled except for the turn signals. Something I have never seen before. Those cars look nice. I also liked the purple Corrado with the dual exhaust. Corrados look pretty hot with dual exhaust in my opinion. =]
  3. Yeah I am sure I could actually have it done in 1 day. I just ordered the rear main seal kit for $17 USD shipped. I am going to have at least 1 other person helping me out for this operation. I would love to have it done on Friday/Friday night but I don’t know if it will work for my friend who is a mechanic. I will get a hold of him today to see what his plans are for Friday. Since I already paid for the dyno session for this Saturday it would be a huge plus to actually be able to take my car. So it goes: Tranny mount off Front mount off Gearbox out Clutch out Flywheel off Bad seal out New seal in Flywheel back on Clutch back on Tranny back in Front mount on Tranny mount on That seems somewhat simple enough. Its going to be time consuming, but it will get done. I might want to wait until next weekend when I could get the seal done and my new cam/followers in at the same time.
  4. Well, that makes me feel terribly better. I feared I had to take more out than that. Thanks man. =]
  5. So yesterday I finally got my oil pan replaced! SCORE! So I take it for a test drive because if anything were going to leak, it would leak after the car has been warmed up a bit. So I take if for a spin around the block. I pull back into the driveway and look under the car. I am still leaking oil. I have my friend who is a certified mechanic take a look at it and he says “Oh there is your problem…” me, “WHAT?!” (I was expecting that I forgot to tighten a bolt or something) my friend says “It’s leaking from your main shaft seal.” (Or whatever the crank seal is called on the flywheel side) I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. We decided we could take the whole engine out over a weekend and clean it up real nice and have that seal taken care of as well as getting my new cam and followers in. keep in mind this car is supposed to be my daily driver and I commute 20 min. to work every morning during the week. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to change this seal over as quick and easy as possible? I am so frustrated you don’t even know. Yesterday I paid for a dyno session for this Saturday, and now I cannot bring my car or get a refund. Ugh…this is panning out to be a great week already.
  6. damn...are you selling your old set up cheesy?
  7. I used to work for US post. Depending on the size of parts or where they are going you don’t have any options but to overnight or 2-3 day the item. Yes, it is quite lame. But they probably didn’t have a choice for whatever reason. Or they are just jerks, but I have only had good customer service from them. =\
  8. wait until you see the engine complete. it is going to look brand new.
  9. I have used a bunch of their products and I have been quite happy with them. They do know their stuff. I’m using their solid front motor mount, fuel rail, FPR, and a few other little things. Great place. Their superchargers are amazing. I have seen them first hand... a friend of mine has the Lysholm charger in his Syncro Corrado and it makes so much power. Their rebuild services are a bit pricey, but they do a great job.
  10. Day 5: -Sand Blasting... Before: After: Kevin from Arizona decided to come over and give a helping hand: Now its time to hot tank it and then start to rebuild/paint it! The block looks amazing now! I cannot wait to show you guys the finished engine... =]
  11. Hey guys just thought I would post some pictures from today. A few friends of mine came over and we were just hangin out having a good time. (Keep in mind we are from Santa Cruz California =]) The Corrados Steve's G60 The Corrados again All of the rides (including the tail end of the rabbit G60) Eric's Jetta
  12. ah. those things are imposible to come by here in the states. i replied to your PM by the way.
  13. g-man help me out here. i have emailed and PMed you and gotten no response. i am very interested in upgrading.
  14. DAMN YOU ALL!!!! J/k I wish things could be better here. But our country makes LOTS of poor decisions. It is quite a shame. But I guess I am going to have to deal with it…or move to Canada or Australia.
  15. Here the minimum wage is like $5.75 USD and hour. Isn’t that ridiculous?
  16. I hate my country. So i paid 32.2859 GBP for a windage tray, oil pan, and plug. I think thats a pretty smoking deal. What is your guy's minimum wage over there?
  17. Mine...nice and dark. I had them on both of my Corrados: old car: new car:
  18. wow. how much are you in on this project so far money wise?
  19. lol yeah I guess that came out wrong. I was trying to say I was going to try and get a windage tray that day if they had one in stock, but if they didn’t I would settle for a normal gasket instead if they didn’t have the tray. I have built and engine before with a windage tray I know you don’t need a gasket if you have one. =] Anyways, the new parts are ordered and should be here on Monday =] this Monday, my car is going to be so happy… new lifters, new cam, new cam seal, new valve cover gasket, a windage tray, new oil, new oil plug, new oil pan, new oil pan bolts. I got everything shipped for under $300 USD. I cannot wait to get home from work on Monday and get my car going! Thanks for the help/advice guys!
  20. The dealer wanted $120 for the oil pan, gasket, and 20 bolts. I just went to a website and got a windage tray, oil pan, and plug for under $60 shipped. I will go to a hardware store and pick up some bolts for another $3 or so. But my car is out of commission for the weekend. I am going to bum a ride off of some friends to and from work tomorrow and Monday. Thanks for the help guys! Also this weekend I’m going to install my new cam/lifters/gasket/seal! I have a weekend of fun ahead with my Corrado! Maybe when i get the pan off I will take a picture to show you guys the cause of all this trouble.
  21. I’m getting a new gasket for sure. I am going to see if they have the windage tray as well. If they don’t then a gasket is fine for now. So you guys are sure that the MK2 one will fit?
  22. I think it is the pan because it is leaking when the car isn’t running. I haven’t gotten to look at it yet because I am still at work for 4 1/2 more hours. I have been franticly calling shops and the local dealership to see if they have one in stock. If I cannot find the stuff today, I cannot go to work tomorrow. Arg, this is pissing me off so much. The dealership said they would call me back in an hour with an answer if they had a pan or not. This is a great start for today.
  23. So today I figured out why my car has been slowly leaking oil for the past few weeks. I wasn’t quite sure what it was until today on my way to work. So my car sounded quite loud today on my way to work (the engine didn’t sound very happy at all) so as I was pulling into the parking lot at work, I noticed my oil light came on…so I checked my oil and I still had some in there, but it was a bit low. I added a quart and went into my work. So a few hours later I went out there to check on the car. I check the oil level, and the car is freaking dry. Cursed oil pan! So now I have to find my way home tonight either by towing the car or buying a case of oil to feed my car on the way home from work. This freaking sucks.
