I think I am going to rock the stock exhaust on the car. The DTM was going to be put onto my current Corrado but I don’t know if I want to take the time to out it on there. Yeah, this car is going to rock real hard. Wait until you guys see this engine...man its going to be so great. My friend is getting a barrel for his hot tank mid next week. I am so stoked to have a friend with one of those at his house.

UPDATED! DAY 3: Time to start on the new engine. We picked up the extra G60 engine i had stored at my parents place. We brought it home and started disassembling it. We got most everything off of the block and head that night. DAY 4: This day is where we got the most work done on the engine. We disassembled the entire engine. Organized the pistons/rods and set them aside for being hot tanked. Now that engine is just the block and nothing else right now. The head, intake manifold, and throttle body are going to be sent off to be ported and polished by a friend of mine in the next few weeks here. Here are some pictures of the disassembly. This one is pretty amusing; this was the first piston that we removed. =] After the pistons were removed we really got to take a look at the cylinders of the engine and check out the wear. Everything looked perfect! This bad boy is ready to be cleaned up! As of right now, we are waiting on hot tanking all of the parts we plan on re using on this swap, the new piston rings someone is donating to us, and on delivering the head, intake manifold, and throttle body to the machine shop. Sometime this week we are going to be taking a drill with some wire brush bits on it to strip any gunk off of the block. More updates soon to come. If you guys thought my 2.0L 16v engine was clean...wait until this one is done!

Where is the day pictures mate?! I want to see what it looks like. Is there a difference in-between the 4 door lights and the 2 door lights? I have seen a few questions about it before. I never got a straight answer.

Yeah I went and checked out a nugget yellow G60 before I bought my new G60. The yellow one was making amazing boost for a stock charger and pulley. But when I opened up the tube, I found a layer of flakes lining the tube. That charger was going to blow at anytime. Same thing that happened with my former G60. It was getting great boost up until it randomly blew. Also, if you do decide to get it even if it has flakes, test the compression before you actually buy it to make sure the engine is still good with all that metal flake in it. It’s not worth getting a car with flakes unless you immediately plan on rebuilding the charger, flushing the intercooler, cleaning the boost tubes and doing a few oil changes to make sure you don’t have any flakes in there.

check out the buying guide on here. here is the link: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5124 check the boost tube right where it connects to the throttle body, make sure there is no metal flakes in there and see how much oil is there as well. if there is metal flakes and/or oil you might want to consider another car.

i was thinking when i was going to turbo my old engine, putting "G6T" in the MK4 lettering. but i ended up just doing a N/A 16v and buying another G60.

It is a running 79' 1.8 8v. No diesel, but smog isn’t going to be an issue for me; I have a few friends in the industry. YES it is leather!!! I was shocked. The interior is amazing. I haven’t gotten a chance to clean it out yet. So those pictures of it are with a dirty interior. I only paid $40 USD for it (which translates into 21.80 GBP) for this car…it was a smoking deal. Original owner even. I am picking up my spare G60 engine from my parents house today to start tearing it apart for the rebuild. This is going to be one quick little bunny when I’m done with it... =]

thats sweet looking. i wish we had more of a variety of corrados over here in the US. we only get SLC and G60. =]

We got the car for $40. We are dropping in a G60 engine that is going to be quite built. Here are the pictures: When we picked the car up: After 1 day with it so far: -removed bumpers -washed -de-spidered outside of car (inside is still to be dealt with) a new happy home: I would have to say...Not too shabby for $40... =] Please Donate any parts you can.

Alright guys, if you can help me with any of this it would rock. I am just about to start a engine swap on my newly purchased (for $40 USD) 1979 Rabbit 4 door. I decided since I had an extra G60 engine sitting around that I would swap that into the car. I plan on completely rebuilding the engine and having it be near perfect in every way. But, I could really use some help from you guys…I have made a list of parts I need for the project. If any of you guys can donate any parts to this swap, I would take care of the shipping costs for anything to be sent over here. Here are the lists, please help me if you can. I could really use the help. Here is a list of things I need for the engine: Head gasket set Block gasket set Head bolts Rod bearing set Intake Manifold Gasket Crankshaft Seal set Exhaust manifold gaskets Fuel Injector Seal Kit Fuel injector bushings kit Serpentine belt without AC V belt, power steering belt Supercharger belt Rear motor mount Front motor mount Transmission mount Oil Dipstick Oil Dipstick guide tube Oil Drain Plug Oil Filler Cap Oil Pan Windage tray Timing Belt Kit Spark Plugs Distributor Cap Distributor Rotor Here is a list of things I need for the body: European projector headlights Tinted/smoked tail lights Side mirrors Fog light kit Smoked/tinted side markers Smoked/tinted front bumper lights Front euro (small) bumper Rear euro (small) bumper if you could help me find the part numbers for these things that would be great! I don’t expect to get much, but anything is going to help.

Ah, great to know. if that line is fine, where else should i be looking?

I am getting 12v though. Someone mentioned that i wasnt getting enough amps...?

good advice. =]

No because the gauges have a totally different power supply than the normal dash lights. The way I had it set up before it was getting power when you would turn on the actual headlights/parking lights. I had it wired up to when you would hit the switch the gauge lights would turn on. I am still confused.

I installed it last night after I got home from work. There is a Huge difference for shifting. There is almost 0 play while shifting. I still have to get used to it =] there is a little more vibration in the cab, but nothing that isn’t bearable. I think I might want to replace my transmission and rear mount soon just to make sure everything is good. Overall so far, I really like it. I am quite happy with it. Ok, the other day when I was installing my reverse glow gauges in my new Corrado; I hook everything up just the same as I have it in my other Corrado…(This is where things get confusing). They won’t turn on. Why the hell they aren’t turning on when I hooked them up the EXACT same way I had them on my other Corrado (that worked just fine). So, after sitting there in awe of why it isn’t working, I start to trouble shoot. I check all of the wires, none of them are damaged or anything (check.), I then check to see if my ground is good (it is, check.), I then check to see if my power source is good (it is, check.) I even tried hooking it up through my boost gauge/volt gauge power/grounds (that are currently working) and still nothing. At this point, I start to think I am going crazy. This should be working. So, I think maybe something happened and they had just stopped working all together. So I grab a spare battery I have lying around and hook it directly up to that. IT WORKS! But why wasn’t it working in my car? So, my battery had been having some power issues and was not holding a charge for a while, so I replace my battery. STILL NOTHING! The gauges still do not work. Can someone please help me try to fix this! Just last week I got a speeding ticket at night because I could not see how fast I was going… This needs to be fixed ASAP so that doesn’t happen again. Do you guys have any idea what could be happening here? I am scared to drive at night now with my car. Someone help me. This is what they are supposed to look like. (These pictures were taken in my other Corrado):
