  1. IIRC, years ago, someone paid £120 on ebay auction for one. That is when I decided to remove mine from the car and keep it indoors!
  2. Would-be-purchasers - the car is now taxed to 28 February 2013. (£215 iirc)
  3. My Varta will be 10 years old in June. I do, though, have the car wired to a trickle charger most of the time. Keeping it charged properly extends the life. So many Corrado batteries have been replaced when they went flat (as many are drained in a fortnight if car not used).
  4. You can crawl under the car and be the jack! It's all to do with hydraulics.
  5. "...........I'm getting too old for rolling about under cars in the driveway." Lol - I've been using that exact same phrase for some time now, Wullie
  6. Growing up in cold houses with coal fires, I never liked to dispense with the warm central focal point of the living room when I moved out. To fill this desire (which is bound to be primeval!) I/we have always had a decorative electric fire - once set in a teak mantlepiece when they were in vogue in the 1970s lol - as a central focus point. At the moment I have the flatscreen tv set above a low electric fire, so you get the best of both worlds. The Mrs does not really like my idea for when visitors come, but goes along with it. That helps! The fire has a couple of 700w-ish bars but it is only switched on with one bar, now and again. A red light bulb spinning a flame flicker effect from the thing keeps me happy 90% of the time. Wendy's idea of settling in for a while before you decide is - as would be expected from her - most sensible!
  7. Yes, it was put in last May, but the market is so stagnant (even tho' price was cut a month ago) I would still like to have it on here, if possible. Technically that is beyond me - enough headaches here at the mo. Thanks in anticipation!
  8. Yes - I like analogue, having grown up with it. I still have first vinyl LP I bought in 1964. - I was 19. Rolling Stones - 1st album. (in mono!) Best Regards Your red Corrado is beautiful - you are not located in UK, though, Redfox?
  9. Nope - still up for sale. After a good day out, though, you do think "just a bit longer is fine". Let fate decide.
  10. Your experiences, Alex, are 70% typical of my experiences with garages since I, or my wife first owned cars in 1968. Whether, in Dundee, Ayr, Paisley, Falkirk, Edinburgh, Bathgate, Linlithgow, Broxburn or Grangemouth. total disenchantment at one time or another in all these towns/cities. We have two quite reasonable garages in Linlithgow, and I have heard by word of mouth of an allegedly good guy in Bo'ness. Good to hear, too, of the guy in Rosyth (thanks Sideways Steve.)
  11. Oh to be young and ambitious again! Well done Alex! - You probably were by Sunday night. Try and get a rest at work! Thanks for kind words re my car. Good luck with your project - I'll be keeping an eye on it and wishing it was me doing it - - - - not!! Great to meet you, and lucky you having mates like that to help you. Cheers for now.
  12. Ach! Alex - never thought of this happening - you must be a real pest! (Kidding!) As it's you - £50. (£86 new, I see. I bought it new, so it only has a couple of slightly grubby pages!)
  13. Over £400 spent on Corrado today - four new Dunlop Sport fitted, and intermittent ABS light problem fixed after dismantling and renewal of bolt.
  14. At the carwash today for "Executive Valet" lol! No Rose at the carwash, but Yvonne insisted on charging only £40 instead of £45 as so little to clean. Says she, "much easier to make a big impression on the owner with a valeted car after you have taken it in as a right minger!" - well, I am putting into my own words, here! Actually, the leather is not as white as that. The camera never lies, eh?
  15. I've hosed mine out a couple of times and treated with loads of Waxoyl. -if you know what I mean.
  16. Well I am certainly glad I don't have a hole 5 inches long and an inch wide.
  17. Yes, vornwend. Fitted professionally several years ago. Up to date technology helping old git Corrado driver to avoid Tesco carpark chaos!
  18. Yes, Alex, it is always a pain going cap in hand and asking for a discount. I say to hell with it now - stuff VAG. They have no interest whatsoever in supporting the Corrado, even when their salesmen come out in pairs to admire the Storm when I park it outside one of their corporate chrome and glass palaces (full of smoke and mirrors, of course). I have never returned to my VW garage in Bathgate that I had bought 2 brand new and one used Polo from and spent thousands of pounds with them on servicing/parts etc over a period of about 20 years. The reason? - When I asked for a CCGB discount on a few parts for my daughter's 1st car - an old Polo - a jumped-up salesman (who happened to have been a grumpy parts man for years and was now wearing a suit), said they would not give discounts. Taking the opportunity to sound off about the bad behaviour of some Lothian VW club members which was nothing to do with me! I was livid and even phoned his manager on the Monday to tell him what I thought -"All I can do is apologise...." I have never been back. Two other staff sitting reading the Saturday tabloids did nothing to impress, either. Advantage in Stirling have given me a discount, though, but I loathe asking. The C is going, anyway and I will not be sorry to leave behind the hassle of dealing with VAG. Toyota, do seem to care a lot more, but the car is a 2009 Yaris and I dont go begging for discounts any more.
  19. I'm hankering for a nice Mk2 GTi again. Probably be more likely to nip out to Tesco, etc, in it than I am with the storm which sits immobile for weeks on end.
  20. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280656958754&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Found link to this on a hifi forum (Pinkfish media) frequented by mostly decent - oh, and very comfortable financially, folks. The son of one of the forum members is selling this in Bristol area.
  21. My local VW specialist forgot to put back any weights at all, on the front wheels once. 130 mile round trip next day was a real pain - could not go above 55-60mph. Yes, Alzheimers is alive and well in the young "technicians" in this particular town. doh!
