Had these quotes in reply from local garage. To supply and fit wishbones £290.81 inc VAT To supply and fit rear axle bushes £264.98 inc VAT To supply and fit drop links £114.72 inc VAT To supply and fit anti-roll bar bushes £146.94 inc VAT As regards Track rod ends there are two choices depending on the steering system TRW £289.20 inc VAT supply and fit and ZF would be £231.19 inc VAT supply and fit. When you say steering rack bushes do you mean the main bush that goes around the steering rack? Any comments welcome, guys. Particularly with respect to best ones to go for first. Of course, it strikes me that I will never get that money back on the car, perhaps I should just buy a cheap 1.8 with the money this will cost? :ignore:

Some of us will remember Dr Forinor when he was a student. Well done, man! Yep, join the tooth fairies, "stick in" at college and there's no stopping you!

VR6 in EVO's 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
craigowl replied to Storm Warning's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah, you have a point its always going to be subjective but interesting read all the same. Given its 'drivers cars' I guess its about the whole experience? e.g. how it goes and makes you feel too? In that I'd for one disagree that the Pug 306 Rallye (63) is in above the likes of Mcl F1 (71) and say the integrale (84). Eitherway I'm pleased they had the sense to include the Corrado  oh and what is EVOs obsession with Renaults (especially ones with :camp: stickers on) they seem to be a bit on their own with that one. Yes, pleased the Corrado got in there - anywhere. I was just being provocative. Just a list based purely on driving pleasure. I raised eyebrows about Renault, too, but what do I know about sh!t off a shovel performance cars! The car owning components of reliability/durability/practicality/economics don't come into this kind of list, but as you say, Storm Warning, they are usually interesting. -
Thanks, Toad. Yes, from what I have read, volks like me should steer clear of polybushes. A bit softer and more lubberly rubber is what I need. :camp:

VR6 in EVO's 100 Greatest Drivers Cars

The list, like others, is purely subjective and compiled by overgrown schoolboys, no? :ignore: -
Thanks for prompt contributions, guys.

As title. Would like to get things taut as when new. Sorry if it has been asked before. Anything else advised? Not doing it myself, though! So must keep it reasonable price, too.

A bit late for me to say now, 3corsameal, but it is probably best (IMO) not to buy used components with a high failure rate - for the Corrado that is - from ebay (eg. headlight switch, aux water pump, door handle, coilpack, etc.) As an old greybeard, I have to say that "buy cheap, buy twice" is one of those sayings that often works.

Wow - what a lady! Awesome results - very well done!

There should be a time and a mood for everything. Saw Boston live in Edinburgh - 7 encores. Of our generation, no one surpasses Led Zeppelin.

Pat Metheny & some cool Polish songstress - Anna Maria Jopek.

Hope things improve for you. :salute: Work will be excellent I am sure. Personally, I would get rid of the naughty slogan. I would smile if I saw it, but might not take you on. IMO, some potential, reserved customers may find it off-putting. "Presentation is all" was drilled into us by professionals. No offence meant - just trying to be helpful to someone on their own daring enterprise!

Hmmm - I have used ebay a lot :bad-words: but never looked on there for that bit. Write out 100 times "I must check ebay before buying something."

Well, yesterday actually. Brilliant day, dry, sunny periods 21C, replaced worn aerial seal. £13.60 for part, plus 40 mile return trip. We Corrado owners are bonkers!

Mk4s worse than Mks1, 2 and 3, then?

.....ever had above ^^^ problem with any of your fleet mate ?? No - can't relate to that at all. When I got the first 5-speed in 1987, it took a while to get used to as it seemed to graunch when going 1st to 2nd. Gear lever action was fine but not as switch like as new Toyota Yaris, or even the VR6. Personally, I would avoid that one you looked at.

We have had five Polos in the family over the period 1981 - 2003. I had three from new in 1981, 1983, 1987. Kids had two old second hand ones with little trouble. Wet carpets can sometimes be merely due to the girly :help: owner not clearing leaves from the gutter drains under the bonnet, just below the windscreen. Another cause may be plastic membrane coming adrift from inner door as glue dries out. Both easy to repair/fix. Fan may not work on all speeds - cheap and easy fix. Brake discs wear/warp quite a bit - not enough to put one off though. Unexiting cars but rock solid reliablility in my experience.

bigrichi & bobbymk2 Can you put your town/location in your profile, please? It's interesting to the rest of us.

Mr "Slow" May's navigator? I don't care if she is dumb - I want one.

I have just ordered what I believe to be a base seal gasket for the antenna from VAG at Stirling. £13.60 incl VAT The part no. I quoted to him was 1H0051753 - I found that on ARZ-Tuning.de who sell kit for 24 Euros excluding postage. I found an ebay site (>99% Reputation) in Florida that claims to sell it, too. - about £11 to UK including delivery - not 100% sure of the delivery price they give, though. Dont rush out and order with this part number until I can say if the item is correct (at least for 1995 C). Should know on Tuesday.

I keep the original "Storm" badge in the house. After my home made replica badge started lifting off, I removed it. I do not care if people are unaware it is a storm. Comes with being of a certain age, that attitude, I suppose. VW freaks that really know what a storm is like will possibly suspect the car is one.

The Marina nearly looking good? Do you know what you are saying? Ffs, drive one and find how loathsome it is. The guys that celebrate it are surely "avin' a larf." My father in law had one from new. The most wallowing, flabby piece of junk I have ever driven. :bad-words: Good benchmark of the British car industry's mass produced output at the time and a prime example of why it went down the pan. Oh, that and the bolshy Scottish shop stewards that stirred the s#it in the industry and made toe-curling viewing and listening on the 6 o'clock news every night for months - or was it years. Rant over. :)

Thanks, _leon_ - only been trying off and on for 46 years! Here are two of first. Taken on mountain walk to Braemar in April 1963. Camera for junk heap was given to me - a box Brownie with only two settings, "portrait" and "infinity". Got one right and one wrong, here!
