  1. PM on it's way... Good question. If it's the rev counter itself that is buggered, then yes. If it's the rpm pulse coming into the clocks that's the problem, then no. Difficult to test which, unless you borrow some clocks from someone else, or by a second hand set.
  2. Yeah, seen a couple like that now. I'm going to update the instructions I think.
  3. Doh! Lets have a pic of the damage.. So, are youy going front mount intercooler or what?
  4. I concur! Looking forward to seeing them in the metal on Monday :D
  5. Oooooo, not nice. Captive nut and bolt rusted solid then?
  6. Congrats dude. Just about to do the deed myself.....Not quite as flash a wedding car though, but a Corrado non-the-less :D
  7. Cool, well, it will probably be after the wedding now, but I'll definitely look into it. :D
  8. Hi Andy, yeah just looking into that at the mo. Not sure how the mk4 deals with engine RPM pulse yet, it may come in on CAN on the later ones, but got a mate with a mk4 AUM 1.8T, so will see what's goin on with his.
  9. I just used a big screwdriver, tip pressed onto the top of the engine or the block, handle to your ear, you hear some mad noises doing that, sounds like it's running with no oil in at all :) I was just going to suggest that....
  10. Too true. Rings, main and thrust and big end bearings, little end bearings and C-clips, intermediate shaft seal, crank seal (both ends), a few gaskets and that's about it. New oil pump would be a must though, if you are rebuilding the bottom end, along with a new sump (not overly expensive) and gasket....job done. Stick a windage tray in there from a TDI as well. Dooooo it!
  11. Nice. Working the way it should. Good work. :)
  12. Now fitted in a mk3...namely mrsbeige's VR  Quick video....
  13. How did you do the Haldex control in the end? Is the standard Haldex ECU, with all the respective ABS etc from a mk4?
  14. Glad it wasn't anything serious :D I think I still have a 2.0l 16v CAT in my garage if it's any use to you - £35 + delivery??
  15. Oops, yeah forgot about the wrist pin diameter.... Agreed with dirtytorque, it'd be much simpler, and prolly cheaper in the long run to source an ABF
  16. Doing that will lower the compression to about 8:1, so you'd need to use ABF or 9A pistons to bring it back up. You'd also need the crank pulley, intermediate shaft and pulley and the 16v oil pump.
  17. What suspension is it? If it's overly noisy, defo go for the standard airbox too. Which exhaust have you got on there? Mic (mic_vr) has a 2.5" Techtonics on his VR, and cruising it's quite as a mouse, put your foot down and it just growls nicely, but not over powering at all. Subtlety is definitely the way forward :)
  18. Thank god for that! TSW venoms were cool for about 3 seconds when they first started making them... Nice to see a late G though :D
  19. Indeed, it's a thread I'd never seen. I wonder if the prices have changed much since 2003...
  20. I'd keep your eye out for a pair of tornado pink wings on the forum. I wouldn't want to put rusty bits back on. At the very least, wire wheel the rust off, stick some rust killer on and whack a funk load of underseal on them. They may be salvageable in the short term.
