  1. Yup, defo no bearings on the cams :) When was the cam-belt last changed?
  2. I love the 'Frustration' one...genius!
  3. Could be pinking, but I doubt it. The VR has two piezoelectric (IIRC) knock sensors on the block, one on the front and one on the back and the ECU will retard the timing if you get detonation.
  4. I do mate. We do engine controllers, CAN/MOST gateways, after-treatment controllers, infotainment modules etc etc. Hmmm, might have to look into that :D cheers.
  5. Indeed. I've got a feeling the company I work for has some strategies for knock detection that might be of some use. I've asked the question anyway. Need to get two bosses welded into my 16v manifold as well, one for the wideband and one for the EGT, although I might leave EGT for the time being. I have a boss with my innovate wideband, but I need and EGT sensor and boss, where did you get yours from?
  6. Hmmm, interesting! I was talking about knock detection to a calibration engineer colleague of mine at work today. He suggested the only issue with knock detection is it is notoriously difficult to calibrate correctly, but I guess, if you only look for knock on the power stroke, that could make it somewhat simpler. He said EGT would be a lot easier to use as a means to detect knock, but then it wouldn't be quite as quick to pick it up. Would you use the standard VW (piezo IIRC) knock sensors?
  7. I'm pretty sure that's essentially how it works. The toothed wheel gives MS much better understanding of where the engine is at a given point, as it will know where the missing tooth/teeth are. I've got a 32-1 toothed trigger wheel to be welded onto the auxiliary pulley, and a Ford hall effect sensor (which might have to be ditched for a VR sensor to work directly with MS instead of through EDIS, but not researched that properly yet) to be mounted at the back of the block by the trigger wheel. You can also setup MS to run the second trigger with the toothed wheel AFAIK
  8. Oh yes, that is definitely on the cards. Was planning on going Ford EDIS with my MS1 V3.0 Extra, but having done some research, I think I'm going to use the COP coilpacks, and drive them directly off the Megasquirt. It's only two more resistors and a couple of transistors to run them wasted spark. Didn't really want to put Ford poop on it anyway  Talking to saysomestuff the other day, he pointed me at a very interesting Lupo engine component that could come in very handy when I eventually go turbo as well.... it's a 60-2 toothed wheel, and apparently they are only like £40!
  9. Do you mean strap a huge turbot to it? If so, then yes, and I just have to fix the moon roof and I'll have the turbot! (thanks to renson)
  10. Aye that sounds good, just got to wait til I'm paid ;)
  11. Aye, that sounds like it could be a plan, is it in good nick? Is it complete (not including the splitter)?
  12. Ok, there may be a touch of faffage, but hey, all good things come to those who wait :salute: Need a O/S indicator and front bumper (in tornado red) to start with...
  13. I'm not faffing about! It's called biding my time ;)
  14. I will, all good things come to those who wait....and wait....and wait Lol! The engine bay isn't THAT clean, although I will be attacking it at some point with some cleaning products Why thank you kind sir :)
  15. I gave Gooney a bit of a wash yesterday and whacked some Megs Cleaner Wax on it and was pretty surprised how well the paint came up :) Got some renewed interest now, which has to be a good thing. Also started him up for the first time since March and he started on the first turn of the key! That's even with old fuel in it.
  16. I feel that you are getting closer and closer :D I've got a good feeling that it's going to start tonight ;)
  17. your current limit is set to 70 % at the mo. There must be like loads of different manuals for MS, as the on I looked at whilst attempting to help Dec said 70% for the current limit!
