  1. Well, if nobody is forthcoming with any suggestions, perhaps the potential buyer might like to suggest a price :) Since we're not in the market area, I'm hoping that's not against the rules!
  2. I've got a few parts left over - found them in the shed yesterday, had forgotten about them! Thought I'd flog them on the 'boards here, as some of you might be interested: 1. Catalytic converter for a G60. 2. Rear silencer box for a G60. Bought it off ebay when I thought mine was going (it wasn't). Can't even remember how much I paid. 3. Roof rack for a Corrado. The Corrado isn't exactly designed to take roof racks, it has to be said - but sometimes needs must! It's a bit of a pain to fit on your own (one of those where if you don't have one side properly tight and you go to tighten the other side it pops off), but it works fine. Everything else went with the car... :( Any ideas? I think I paid James Renshaw £25 for the cat, does that sound about right? (Actually...now his car's been on the cover of PVW, that cat must be worth at least £50 ;) )
  3. The VR is definitely smoother. But the weird thing about the VR is that it just feels a little slower off the mark. I don't think it actually is, I just think it's the way the G60 delivers its torque that makes it feel quicker than it actually is! :)
  4. Well, it might not be typical, but I'd get 30mpg average out of my G60 where my mate would get 25 out of his VR6. Over 350-500 miles per week that adds up. Do they just pay the petrol you stick in, or give you a mileage rate? Ie if you get the more economical car, do you get spare cash in your pocket? :) Having owned a G60 (and loved it enough to own it for 6.5 years) I couldn't and wouldn't advise against a G60 - loved it. However, if I was to buy another Corrado I'd go for a VR6 next time - I prefer the sound of them, they're a bit faster, I've already owned a G60, and of course they're newer :)
  5. Probably what I drive right now! And it would be a fair point (nice car, well made, but as a driver's car not a patch on the Corrado). I know he raves about certain cars but I do know he genuinely loves the Mk1 GTI. I've read articles of his before raving about them. And, in the final episode of the year, to claim it was the best car he'd driven all year? That in itself places it above any other "favourites" he had that year :) The man has taste :D
  6. I like the way you're thinking Jim... :)
  7. I really dislike that silver one they always use - I think it's the same one Jim's talking about, with a full BBS bodykit and gold BBS wheels. For some reason they always wheel that one out when talking about the Mk1, rather than a standard-looking one. Still, I remember a few years back, Clarkson was driving something like the 306 GTI-6 (I think it was that). He got out and said how much he loved it, and it was the second best car he'd driven that year. Then they cut to the Mk1 GTI and he said that was the best car he'd driven that year :)
  8. Thanks Craigowl - those graphs are really interesting!
  9. I think it's actually colder than ambient temperature, which is why you get ice even when the temperature is reading 2 or 3 degrees...
  10. Dannybwoy, one thing you've also got to think about is "how easy will this be to sell on if/when I need to?". Do you want a car that's going to be hard to shift because the history might seem a bit suspect? In the end it comes down to money; if you can get it for a great price and don't mind having to let it go for a great price then it might be worth considering (if all the background checks pan out OK). Just remember that any future buyer is going to have the same concerns you did.
  11. A quid a litre...Jeez. Showing my age, but I remember paying 37p a litre - less than 1.70 a gallon!
  12. There's something a bit more "hairy-chested" about a supercharger though :) I went from a G60 to a Golf4 GTI 180, it's quick (probably quicker than the C) but the engine is soulless by comparison :)
  13. Given the power of marketeers these days, I suspect Touareg's probably ARE being used for their intended purpose...being flogged to upper-middle class mums to drop their cherubs off at school!
  14. Without any bills or receipts to even vaguely back up the mileage claim, I'd walk away...
  15. I seem to live in the only part of the UK that hasn't seen a flake of snow in weeks!
  16. A Mk1 Golf GTI doesn't need any mods to put a smile on your face. If you can't enjoy chucking one of those about, you can't enjoy anything. :)
  17. 1. Mk1 Golf GTI Campaign in Helios Blue. 2. Corrado Storm in Mystic Blue 3. Mk4 R32 4. Mk5 GTI 5. Mk1 Scirocco Storm
  18. What you need out there is one of those one-off Corrado "utes" :)
  19. Oh - so it was check-in, rather than customs? Thought it a bit odd, since we don't officially have customs between here and Germany any more :) But then..picture the scene. Man tries to board plane carrying large metallic lump wrapped in oily rag. It all makes a bit more sense now ;)
  20. And what was the problem with the lader? Did they actually confiscate it?!?
  21. Hmmm...I'm sure I still have my VW-Audi magazine publicising the Campaign models, might be able to find out where they originated. They were certainly UK-only though I seem to remember, and were given to the top 6 dealerships in the country ("top 6" being the best performing). I wasn't sure about the terracotta and purple leather then, so I'm not sure I want to see it again now :)
  22. Yeah, and I've had a few years of "doing it" to help with that side of things as well ;) But a decent camera does make an awful lot of difference...
  23. I reckon we could do a lot better than that. Apart from the music, which we're not going to agree on (but of course, I'm right, it's awful) we could shoot something a LOT better :) Get a decent Corrado meet up here in the Midlands and I'll bring my XL1S along, then we'll show them how it's done :)
  24. I suppose we should count our blessings - by all rights it should have been David Hasselhoff crooning over the top of that one ;)
  25. Shame about the music, it turns what could have been a really cool video into something just a bit cheesy... :pukeleft:
