  1. Thats the new subframe ordered with 2 new wishbones and ball joints too. Not sure how long it will take for it to arrive though so nothing much can be done until it gets here....in the engine area anyway. The heater control is only working on 4, and if I am correct (from reading past threads) it is the diode thingy that needs replacing on the board....so I have already bought one and the solder iron has been looked out! I will also have a go at the weekend on removing some roof dents with a dent removal kit I acquired. Fingers crossed it works. And last on the list for now is the seized sunroof, although I dont think much can be done other than buy the sunroof repair kit. It tilts but does not slide...yes yet another common problem....argghhh ! They are all happening at the one time lol
  2. Shiney 8) ...looking very nice..
  3. I got a price of £200 for a new one so I think I'm just gonna go with that. got a price of £94 for a second hand one, and not sure if that is about right or not. I would rather go a bit extra and get one new..... it looks like the plans to get the other Rado for spares isnt gonna happen now.
  4. I just love silver Corrado's....very nice :)
  5. yeah they are 8x17...going to try them out on the car before it goes for paint. Dont imagine any arch work needing down..maybe just need to lift the car a bit. It should be finished in time for Edition, but it is always the MK2 we end up taking and mine is always left behind lol :( ...next year I will put my foot down tho lol Hey Roy....yeah I'm struggling to find one second hand too. Might have a full car available this week for spares though so fingers crossed the subframe is ok. Have you came across any more drivers door speakers cover lately? lol
  6. Zak, tyres are 205/40/17's :)
  7. Yeah total PITA !!!! But from reading past threads on these 2 parts I shouldn't have been surprised to find mine rotting away, still a bummer tho. Took me a while to decide on the wheels, but happy I went for these ones :) Thanks...there isnt going to be a drastic change after all the work is done...apart from the wheels, but it will a lot tidier and hopefully ready to take to some shows!
  8. New wheels now fitted with tyres, and I'm happy with the stretch, just a bit nervous about the lack of tyre lol. Looking forward to getting them on the car though , but won't b for a few weeks yet..so we decided to put them on my hubby's mk 2 out of curiosity as I've never seen these on a mk2 before. They fitted ok but think the car sits a bit too high with the 17's
  9. Thanks guys, the pics do hide a lot because it's black, Here are some pics of the bad bits.... I knew the crossmember was rotting, but didnt realise just how badly! So a new one has been ordered up for next weekend. Managed to get a good price from my local VW dealer so happy with that. Worse than that though is what we found when the engine was removed yesterday. The subframe is also rotting away. Money. money, money! My husband checked it all and there are no holes in it and it still could last a year or so, but at this stage when the engine is out I would prefer to get a new one...well a second hand one if possible as the money pot is going down :(
  10. After having my Corrado for 9 years, it is now due some TLC..... so thought now would be a good time to post some pics of the before and after. The main things to be done...new engine, wheels, exhaust and a respray. There are a couple of small rust patches and a dent on the drivers door to be fixed but for a 16yr old car it is not too bad condition, but just not good enough..... Here are some of the way it stood until just the other week when we started ripping it apart :(

    RH Alloys

Thanks Zak, that answers my question. I found it hard to find them in 4 stud but did eventually, I'm just disappointed that 2 of the wheels are marked

After a lot swithering, and looking at a lot of rims, I decided on the RH ZW1's and they arrived today. yipeeeeee! But.......I have a question I am hoping someone can answer for me before I make a phone call tomorrow. I ordered the wheels in ET30 and when I opened the box and looked at the wheels, they said ET60, then just before I got too disappointed I found a box with 30mm spacers. Is this how these wheels are sold....only the adaptor system? When I ordered them no one said anything about them coming with adaptors to make it up to ET30. Unfortunately though 2 of the wheels are marked, so I will have to get them replaced anyway, but would like to know about this ET thing before I call tomorrow. It's just as well the car isn't ready for the wheels to go on yet or there would have been tantrums

    New engine?

stevef182, yeah I'm excited, but nervous too cos I need to pick new wheels while the car is off the road so that if the arches need rolling then it can be done before it gets painted. So that is the next decision I need to make like within the next week or so! vdubCorrado, Thanks for the information. I dont know much about engines myself but picking up some things along the way. My husband is fitting the new engine and we already picked it up yesterday but it is worth while getting him to check this anyway, if he hasnt already. I'll ask him if he decides to surface from the garage at some point! We are going to stick to the 50mm inlet just now to see what its like. To be honest if it runs even a fraction better with the new engine and with no funny coloured smoke coming out the exhaust then I will be more than happy! At the moment it struggles to reach 105mph and is embarrassing when fiesta's and similar are sitting up my rear end, and I can't pull away from them! I have had 16v Golfs in the past, which I know are a bit lighter but they would have left mine standing lol

    New engine?

Just had a quick look at the new engine and wondered what the number 23E means which is on the block? Its not on the engine thats in the car just now.

    New engine?

Yeah its the complete engine. Thats it in the garage waiting on the car going off the road to get the work done. So might be a few weeks away yet before its done. Fingers crossed!

    New engine?

stevef182, £250 for it. I thought that was not bad?? Picking it up tomorrow :D

    New engine?

Bit disappointed to hear that the 50mm means I will lose a bit of low down torque, but then again the engine that it is in it just now isnt that great anyway! The engine on offer is at present in a well looked after mk2 Golf and is being replaced with a 20V turbo engine. It has been heard running etc and I am pretty confident it will be ok. Then again I will always have the old one for spares!

    New engine?

Right, here is the problem I have..... I have the opportunity of another engine for my 1.8 16v which has a 50mm inlet manifold rather than the 42mm(i thnk) which is on it just now. There are no real issues with the present engine, as far as I am concerned, but according to my husband it is f*****! lol. I have to admit it is quite sluggish, but it has kind of always been like that, even although it has been tuned, serviced and had the head redone not long ago. It hasnt helped either that it only ever goes short journeys and never really gets a good drive. Anyway......should I go for this other engine and what difference should I see with it having the 50mm inlet rather than the 42mm?
  19. Sorry to say this, but anyone seeing a Ford Puma from the side on the green one?

    RH Alloys

awh cool, thanks! I do like them I have to say.

    RH Alloys

yeah I am told the ZW5's come in 4 stud, got a price for the ZW1's just waiting on a price for the ZW5's before I decide, but guessing there wont be much difference either way.
  22. Jules

    RH Alloys

No way, how did you manage to find them? I have been googling away all weekend trying to find pics of them lol I do like them mind you, but think the ZW1's have that slight edge
  23. Jules

    RH Alloys

I was told today that I can only get the ZW1's in 5 stud, which would mean changing some stuff on the car to convert from 4 stud.....as most of you will know, so not too pleased about doing that. And not having seen the ZW5's on a Corrado then I would be taking a chance buying them even although they are not that far off the ZW1's......so now back to the drawing board! :( I originally liked the Keskin KT1's but have recently heard bad reports on the quality of them....can anyone comment on this, who has had them?
  24. Jules

    RH Alloys

Anyone got pics of the ZW5's on a Corrado?
  25. Jules

    RH Alloys

Thanks for that, I have been searching the gallery for pics and havent found any yet! Yeah it is four stud. I have 16's on it just now and they only rub on full lock so heres hoping that the 17's will fit ok.
