  1. hi nicky, the wheels on the car at the moment are Lenso. They are need of a refurb and the plan was to keep them as a winter wheel now. The new wheels will only be on the car for a few weeks and then the Lenso's will go back on for the winter.. which is the reason why I can't sell them right now...I would consider a swap though Get sum pics up of your new Corrado :)
  2. Really like the colour of this...nice :)
  3. Shouldn't be long now. Hopefully the doors and things will get put back together tonight. I'm not rushing anything though so that its done right....you will no doubt see it when its back home :)
  4. Well today the car seen its first coats of paint :D After 5 coats of paint..... Davie at work 8) And after 3 coats of lacquer The excitement has now kicked in at the thought of getting it back soon! So glad now that I decided to spend the money on it rather than sell it. I would have been gutted to see it pass me on the road with someone else driving it.....it is after all now part of the family lol
  5. Hi Wendy...I did also call the Post Office and unfortunately was told that I would need to bring all documentation to the Post office for them to look at before they could advise me!?! So I then called the main customer service line from the Post Office web site and was told that I would need to speak to my local Post office for this information......hopeless!!! Also didn't know that you can't tax a sorn vehicle more than 1 day in advance. Thanks for that info bristolbaron :)
  6. Well good luck with the MOT Roy! Hope your subframe is okay, but if not and your struggling to find a second hand one, let me know and I will give you the contact details for the guy I got mine from. Delivered next day, good price, and still attached was the anti-roll bar, drop links and engine mount. Used everything except the engine mount :)
  7. yeah I was going to try getting the tax online like I normally do, but then found out I need to fill in one of the V10 forms because it has been SORN. Think thats the best idea Dukest...is to make sure I also have the cover note for the new policy starting 6th with me too :)
  8. Not personally no due to the hours I'm working just now, but it was a Post Office worker who said the cover note had to be valid for more than 2 weeks when a friend was in taxing their car (they had 3 weeks left) and it was a passing comment which was made. Not sure its at all correct though!
  9. My car has been SORN for 3 months roughly and I want it back on the road for 1st October, so I have arranged with the insurance company to swap the MK4(present drive) over to another policy and put the Corrado back on this one for 1st Oct. The thing is that my unsurance policy is due for renewal on 6th October, so they have sent me a cover note for 6 days. I have been told that this will cause an issue when taking the documents to the post office to get the car taxed because the cover note needs to be for no less than 2 weeks.... Is this right?? Don't want to be stuck at the last minute in the post office not getting road tax if I can sort something else out just now in plenty of time. I hadn't heard of this before and presumed as long as I had a cover note it would be fine! Anyone had this situation before?
  10. After returning from a great weekend at E38, and bringing back some goodies for the car it was time to nip down to the paint shop to see the progress. Badly dented drivers door now fixed Glad to say the rust has been dealt with on the rear arch and also another bit which was found after the bumper was removed. And some top stop to help smooth out the ripples and small dings
  11. Was it Admiral by any chance? Phoned them after seeing an advert but the price worked out at being more than having 2 seperate policies :(
  12. I think the wheels that are on it just now suit it well.....nice colour too :)
  13. At the age of 31, I don't feel silly driving my Corrado which I have had for 9 years. That's not to say though that it won't change as I get older, cos I might feel silly when I cant manage in and out the seats cos they are so low down and my husbands needs to push me from the passenger side to help lol !! I have no plans to sell it and instead, have spent a lot of money on it so that it will hopefully be around for many years to come. I hope to have kids in the future and I would prefer to struggle getting the kids in and out the Corrado rather than sell it for something more practical. I guess there will come an age though when I will move on and buy something else......it will still be a Volkswagen though (and the sports model), but I hope its not for a long while yet!
  14. It's a friend who is painting it so I'm getting a good price but if I was going elsewhere it would be probably be at LEAST £1000 for a decent respray. Is the paintwork bad on it? I paid £800 for a full respray 6 years ago and at the time that was a good quality job but there were no dents to be fixed, only about one inch square of rust, it was just covered in swirl marks and scratches from the previous owner putting it through the car wash. Its just been unfortunate that one bit of rust has came through and other people have dented the car, or it would still be okay. The car was dropped off at the paint shop today with every dent and scratch circled on it. I am a bit of a perfectionist and is why I'm so fussy about who I would let paint it. :)
  15. lol that was mine that got sctratched....dont do it! I'm wishing we had left mine alone!
  16. The car goes to the paint shop tomorrow and the roof/sunroof was not on the list for paint so what goes and happens the night before???? This.... When we were looking at the sunroof problem, this happened when it eventually did slide back. However it was my husband who pressed the button so he must take the blame for this lol, and needless to say it has been noted at the back of my mind, for casting up in the future lol :) Roof is now included in paint job!
  17. Sorry for another sunroof thread but still not found an answer in any of the thousands already posted! :) Found which part of my sunroof is causing the problem and this is it in the picture. When moving from the tilt position to slide, this part is not fully pushing down to grip the runner parts. If you manually press it down, the sunroof slide back no probs. What is this part called and can it be fixed or do I need a new one?
  18. I will pm you directions....my car is going in end of this week, so should get it back next week sometime :)
  19. Great diagram, defo added to the 'things to do list'...thanks :)
  20. Davie @ Autoworx down the bottom of Wishaw is spraying it. He sprayed the mk2 as well. You're more than welcome to have a look at mine once its finished so you can see his work for yourself
  21. After waiting all week on the subframe... I was told that it wouldnt be available until the end of October...whaaattt?? Couldnt wait until then so managed to get one second hand, and it is in really good condition, so it has been treated and is now fitted. The engine was dropped in yesterday with no issues, and is running great. Sounds very healthy and just needs a tune up. Nothing fancy, and no shiney bits...just a standard 16v engine with the 50mm inlet manifold, rather than the previous 42mm which was on the old engine. Sounds much better :D No point cleaning it up until it comes back from the paint shop. Now it is ready to go for paint later this week. Drivers door has a couple of bad dents thanks to some ignorant woman who drove into it in Asda car park and decided not to tell me And the bit worrying me the most is the rear arch which is rusting quite badly. Check out the large bubble lol! About 6 years ago this bit was chapped out and fixed but that was when there was like a tiny bit there, which worries me a bit as it has came back through worse than ever. I will the paint guy decided on what to do with this as he will know best. Wheels will be trial fitted this week anyway just incase there is any arch work needed, but I think it will be okay
  22. I helped this morning to fit this loom ( I read the instructions out lol), and it does work but as you say bcstudent, the dipped has definetely brightened, but looks like it has dulled the main beam. This doesnt worry me too much at the moment, but I will check it out later when its dark to see if it is okay to keep for now. I am just so chuffed that I can see white lights instead of the yellowish glow I have had for 9 years! coolrado...which kit do you have and where did you get it from? It sounds a better long term option
  23. I have read through many of the posts already regarding the different looms going about, and I see that there is a list of people at the moment waiting on a plug n play one when they become available, but wondered if anyone has any experience of this one, and is it worth fitting it? Bought it about a year ago and at the moment the front bumper is off the car, so thought it was an ideal time to get this fitted. Would prefer though to have dim lights than no lights though, so would like some opinions please, thanks
  24. Well not much has happened all week on the car as the subframe has been delayed but should arrive on Tuesday. Happy with the new cross member now fitted :D
  25. The subframe has now been removed and its pretty bad lol
