That's pretty unnerving, going in with an ankle break, you would think would be straight forward enough. Bit of a wake up call there my friend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BTW - how's the ankle? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Eeeh ohh - ok :) Well, I did offer it in and it fitted fine. The guy who took my old block away was kind enough to pull the starter and he said the original one has 10 teeth, so I'm assuming it's good to go? Guessing a 9 tooth motor just wouldn't engage the flywheel? Thanks my friend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My 1990 1.8 16v starter motor. I ordered a new one and it has 10 teeth. I was checking and some listings have the motor listed with 9 teeth? Just checking before putting it in. The electrical connection is different on the new one which made me stop and question. I have just put in a 9a bottom end and just about all back together. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks pal, that's a pretty good place to go to!!! I had a look through and couldn't see the distributor diagram :( Did notice the bolts on the fuel filter and thinking they might be the same? They are N90358003 - banjo bolt - M14x1.5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Trying to source banjo bolts for the fuel distributor on an early 1.8 16v. Looking for the numbers for both the injector lines and the larger fuel feed/return hoses too. Struggling here and would love someone's help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the help and offer my friend! I managed to get one from a guy who sells HEL ones, he was recommended by one of the forum members. When you took out your old slave, did you simply switch them out? I did, but read that you are supposed to disconnect the selector lever? Hope I haven't done something that will upset the operation :( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, it's on its way! He also got me sorted on the clutch hose too - bonus! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found him on Facebook - thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks, what's the proper name for that one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for that - is that his store name, 'the braided hose shop?' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This one sheared off when hooking it back on :( It's the one to the right of the warm up reg. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Anyone happen to have a spare front brake hose? I let the calliper slip and it's pulled the fitting :( It's for a 1.8 16v, stainless if you have one... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Got the engine in today and found that the pipe going into my clutch slave cylinder is needling to be replaced. What have you guys done do you fit a similar pipe or can something be made to fit? Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Thanks! Pretty much replaced everything when I fitted the KR cams. New chain and tappets etc... I managed to get the bolts from VW - 48mm x M6 from what they said. Should get the engine/box back in this week :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Will change over the centre ones only. Will give local VW a shout - shouldn't be too expensive for 3 bolts :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hmmm, my head has studs and nuts for securing the cover. Will go ahead and change that over to bolts then. Thanks as ever for your advice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just to clarify... On the 9a head my rocker cover studs in the centre aren't long enough to come up through the rocker holes to secure them. Guessing there should be longer studs for the middle two? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That's the one!!! From that image it looks like the two rubber bushes are either side of the arm. That's lovely! Thanks lads! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pulled this photo of the internet, but can't quite make out if the bushes are both above and below the arm or both above... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the reply pal! Looks like they are different arms. Mine has a circular hole in the control arm, definitely a different design. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just replaced my lower control arms and renewed the inner roll bar bushes. Now refitting the roll bar links to the control arms. Can someone put up a photo of how they are supposed to fit? I am aware they attach to the top side of the arm, but not so sure about the bush. Do you split the rubbers so one half is on topside and the other underside of the arm or is it simply bolted complete to the top of the arm? It's an early 1.8 16v... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Got the wishbones swapped out - phew!!! Need a pointer on the roll bar drop links. The fitting position - dot you split the bush above and below the housing in the wishbone? I'm thinking yes, but when I took the old ones out they were simply bolted complete to the wishbone? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
