  1. I don't get why corrados have a poor reliabilty image. At the end of the day they are odl cars and most will need running gear sorted by now. They are high power cars and expensive when new and any car that age would need new pads/discs/drums/shocks/springs/bushes/mounts etc etc... whether they have 150 bhp+ or not I bought mine knowing full it would and am glad I did, beats a brand new punto/fiesta or some other 3 year old peice of crap imo. My C has been as reliable as I could possibly have hoped. It has ever broken down or even hinted at it and I drive it every day. Same stood for my mk2 gti before. Fair enough, people moan about stuff going wrong, but it constantly suprises me for the reasons i mentioned before, they ARE old cars and will need parts replaced. The good thing is with the corrado, is that once you have sorted these things out then you have a good knowledge of your own car and are pretty in tune with its handling and will notice when and what needs sorting out. I don't understand why people would happily spend 8-10k on a new car that is going to lose half its value within a 2 years and be souless over a C or something similar?? I am sure the majority here agree?? I hope :) (you hit a nerve there, but imo it sums up the reason why people buy Corrados and not newer cars)
  2. Yeah mike, thats the one I thought I was wrong with 5th gear :) The feature was pretty cr4p, but still it woke me up from a sunday afternoon sofa kip :) well spotted :)
  3. I found with my G60 after going from 2 boxes to 3, the main thing making my G60 sound loud inside was is the induction/charger combination. From what I can tel, a good miltek/magnex exhaust on vr6 is vastly quieter than any G60 with non stock exhaust let alone ik
  4. Do toyota hilux's have a soild bench in front?? Something appealing about having 3/4 people sitting up front :) Like big ass american cars. Always hankered for one of those since old boys break down in Italy(In saab and taken to ferrari garage  )
  5. If it has a stage 4 charger only then thats probably the problem so to speak. 0-60 aint *that* quick on a G60 as the gear box is not ratio'd for it. From 60-140 your car would piss on the vauxhall pile 'o poo. With the stage 4 charger you need to get a new pulley and chip then you will defintely notice the diference. I bought mine with standard chip pulley, fully expecting to add mods once bought. The diference a new chip and 68mm (or 65 if brave) makes is incredibly imho. It's not just a subtle mod tha you think you may notice, its blatantly obvious in that the torque is apparent from much lower down and the thing will take off in 2nd from 3k+. The best increase is from 70+ in 3rd/4th/5th as the pulling power really will show over standard. I went from mk2 GTi to G60 and expected what I got from the standard engine/setup, but was impressed by mods made. If you have the new charger then its 100% worth the upgrade, nay, imperative that you do it :) If your C does seem very slow atm then check the hoses for boost leak as that is likely to be the problem. Check hoses near battery as leaks will eat through and waste precisou power :) VW should have made G60's with 68mm pulleys and 3.5fprs as standard :) There should be no vauxhall on the road near you other than vx's or modded calibra turbos (sh1te) (n.b. This post contains anti-vauxhall sentiment)
  6. merc cosworths are nice too. Interior is a bit to 80s tho :) Was one of the cars I had on list before C: Corrado G60/VR6 MK2 Golf G60/VR6 conversion Audi UR Quattro E36 325 :/ (Glad I didn't) Still think a black lowered merc cos looks awesome :) Anyone here driven one? comparisons with C?
  7. I saw some really quick feature on sky the other week. Was on some minor channel on, IIRC, 5th gear? Anyhoo, Had the corrado (vr6) with the reviewer saying how it was an amazing car and available in several guises...all good. Talked about good handling and rarity. I think the point of it was for those looking for something less common and a solid buy. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it again, bound to be on a again knowing sky.
  8. The Vauxhall badge should put you off even getting in it in the first place :)
  9. A wheel bearing on its way out will sound like a droning noise. It should be pretty easy to spot as the drone will change pitch with the speed you are goin and whether you are in gear or not.
  10. BMW E30 320 Convertible BMW E36 325 coupe - Nice cars but to common and not fast enough. Porsche 944 S2 - Not fast enough and getting on a bit, but I saw a nice clean one that tempted me. Nissan 200sx s13 - Was when I was thinking of selling 8v GTi before Corrado - Glad I didnt, was quick and smooth tho in its defence. Toyota MR2 Turbo - Still tempts me a bit, but only a black one with no rear spoiler as I think otherwise they look a bit sh1t. Recetly - Toyota Supra; but put off as I dont want to buy something I can't pay outright at the moment so unless someone wants to trade my G60 for one :)
  11. What would have been proper bo would have been a G60 68mm Stage 4 SNS vs VR6 Stig Time. Surely that would have at least settled some debate. If not, just offered an idividual opinion on the subteltys of the two engines and handling. We all should have made a petition and sent it to them I reckon :/ Anyway....Is it just me or i am more excited than is right about this feature on Topgear :)

    First-Aid kit ?

So does mine :) fitted superbly on the left of the boot I may add. One of the small things that made me believe the previous owner actually was a geniune VW fan and gave a hoot about the car :) 2p spent
  13. well: I was told initally on phone that I could possibly add another section to reduce noise considerably. Drove to nearest dealer (wher exhaust was initally fitted) and they jacked it up) Had a choice of a 50 quid tubular silencer section running horizontally infront of rear axle ..or pay 90 for an oval section with better silencing. I choose the latter and also change the backbox from a 5" round tail!, to a more original looking oval with silencing. Result is much much quieter sound, ie. no wooooooooaaaaaamp sound, just induction and low rumble note which is way better imo. Cost 127 in all for all things fitted and they let me transfer the warranty which is not the norm. This was at Turriff tyres in Turriff surprisingly. Which I can recommend whole heartedly on terms of friendlisness and competancy. Money well spent. And sorry for spelling, look at the fecking time
  14. Hehe :) Hello Steve. how you doin m8? I was wondering why I hadn't seen you post on here yet. See you got your mp3 player - looks cool. You got it loaded up with your dodgy tunes then? http://www.kf010a4571.pwp.blueyonder.co ... rling8.jpg That's your Storm there is it not (on the right) Roddy, his Storm is definitely a Storm, was having been in it that created my need to get a Corrado :) (Wondered who that was revvin their engine at me tonight! Your C looks 10x better being so low, and as usual puts mine to shame with its cleanliness I was almost dazzled by the paintwork and wax ;) What did you think of the new exhaust then?? better?

    1/4 Mile times

ITs down to the gearbox King Prawn. I like the C for its 50mph+ speeds. They get up to 120mph no probs :)
  16. hehe biggrim, got any pics? Yeah I reckon the car does only have leather seats and doorcards in front. Wouldn't look *too* bad as long as cloth is black.
  17. Campaign, Mine has tinted rears kinda like that except all black, I think they look good that way. Why you not like them? I reckon they look way way better on grey/silver corrados
  18. 'Neon Washer Jets, Neon Footwells' hmm, makes you worry

    NEW TOYS

Looks good Struan :) Need to go out for a compariosn when you got everything goin m8 :) don't know if you guys saw my thread earlier....but I now have a more stealthy G60 :) no more mental exhaust note :)
  20. looks the bee's bollox :) very tidy, well done indeed - was the positioning your idea??
  21. Or to be more precise 120 quid. FINALLY, got my a*** up to turriff to get my powerflow exhaust sorted out. Had the option of fitting a 50 quid cylindrical section just before rear axle or fitting a big oval box with pleny of silencing. Went for the latter and also decided to change the huge 4-5" round pipe. They have heaps of options but after getting it down to a rectangular upswept one or an oval with more silencing I went for the oval. Nice and shiny and way less obtrusive. Started it up and was pretty amazed by the difference, gone has the ridiculous 'woooooooooaaammmp' I used to get. I can actually hear the charger now and never realised just how loud they are, most noise seems to be from induction roar. Still gives off a decent sound tho on WOT. So 120 quid all in wasn't to bad, people at turriff are really decent too, signed my yearly inspection record and let me transfer over warranty as it belonged to previous owner which they dont normally do.

    SNS and 3.5bar FPR

they are a bosch part. you should be able to order them pretty easily. (used on 944 turbo) I got mine within 2 days from local german garage.
  23. I remember seeing a video from vwvortex about the some other (non-stock) charger some one was running. Could have been a lysholm (sic?) It sounded terrible, really really loud noise from it like nothing I have heard before. I'll try to look it out. You should have a look over there, there are always loads of posts about alternative chargers etc.. --Oh and yeah, If you dont have a record of having the charger rebuilt then budget to get it done asap. Should get it done ever 60k tops ideally. More frequent if it s been on a small pulley. And not sure how gaskets will hold out on an old engine with masses of boost?
  24. hehe, that would be cool :) When I saw the thumbnail first time I thought it was a corrado with some horrendous bonnet mod :)
  25. You'll need to remap ecu and change the FPR (maybe bigger injectors too?) 57mm is pretty damn small. Not sure I would be chuffed about doing that on a high mileage G60 un-rebuild engine. Do you really need to have a 57mm pulley? Why not go for 65mm and cams and the rest?
