    timing

i recently had a problem with pinking on my g60 turned out it was a broken wire on the lambda probe  there have been quite a few posts on here that suggest optimax isnt as good as is made out to be appearently it looses quite a bit of its octane rating by the time you get your hands on it as its quite unstable :( someone quoted that its 101 octane when it leaves shell and can be as low as 94 when you get it out of the pump quite a few people have suggested using bp ultimate instead meant to be more stable or so ive been told :?
  3. best thing to do is when you pull the cables out of the tail gate tape a sigle piece of cable to each side and leave these in until you re fit the tailgate then you can use them to pull the cables back through it also helps to tape all the plugs down with the loom to make it smoother to pull through and stops the plugs being damaged i did this and it only took 20 mins to re-fit 8)

    Petrol Light

dont think the corrado does have one have i taken the clocks apart before and there are no lights for low fuel :( quite low tech really considering the other features on the car
  5. i thought polyurethane was stiffer and much longer lasting than rubber couldnt really see the difference between the powerflex bushes my mate had on his golf allready and the new bugpack ones apart from the colour and the fact the bugpack ones use normal steel sleeves instead of the stainless ones in powerflex bushes and they definately improved the handling and feel of his car
  6. avs= audi vw spares, i think http://www.vwspares.co.uk/ ecp=euro car parts
  7. just ordered new shocks from avs quite a bit cheaper than ecp or gsf 8) the bushes look like the original ones and are probably knackered, will the bugpack ones for the mk2 golf fit i know the steering rack ones and the rear axle ones are wrong but if i order the total kit i can flog the rest of the bits on e-bay (a mate of mine did this with his golf as some of his had allready been upgraded he sold the bump stops, rear axle bushes and rear top mounts and made enough money to pay for the whole kit) 8)
  8. is it something like this cant remember where i got this pic from but it would be cool if there was a video version
  9. im looking for some decent vw videos to run on my screen for when the cars up to show standard like the vw stand had at the motor show 8) if there was ever a corrado commercial that would be great also any ideas where i could download the old golf ads the one with the squeaky earing, golf through the ages and the one with all the badly modded golfs  i can use the office broadband for any big videos 10mbs connection 8)
  10. couldnt do much good for the paint either being sand blasted at 100mph  coulnt believe what they did to the golf either imagine the look on the face of the people who leant it to top gear  it was probably like jackass the movie with the hire car
  11. anyone else upgraded to vr6 top mounts are they the same ?

    Glove Box

mmmmmmmm tasty :D i once left a plastic 1 pint milk carton in the glove box in my van for two weeks in the middle of summer which exlpoded when i opened the glove box lid as it was holding the cap on the carton which had swolen up quite a bit. you should be able to do it without damaging anything 8) first look at the two hinges through the gap at the bottom of the glove box the glove box is hinged on two plastic clips, the clips are flat on one end with two prongs on the other end you need to push the clips from the two pronged end, use a small flat ended screw driver push the right hand clip to the left and push the left hand clip to the right once youve got the clips out you should be able to lift the bottom edge of the lid out slightly now look up through the gap and you should see the screw that holds the lock loop, undo this and you can remove the lid ta daa 8) mine isnt broken but i just tried this with mine while it was locked to check it works 8) the screw driver from the corrado tool kit is good for the lock loop nice and long
  13. Dunno mate, but *I* want a set of these: *edit - actually I just want this car. Without the decals, of course.[/quote:f5ded] they look like tsw evo r's without the centre covers fitted i have a set of 15" 's with new toyo's off my old mr2 they look a bit small on the c though looks like they need to be 17's
  14. just done a search on the forum to try and find out more about the standard shocks and it seems that a few people have had problems with sachs/boge units, too spongey, body roll ect is this just with vr's or would they be ok on the g60? where is the best place to get the bilstein items ? what comes with the "suspension kit" from gsf? ive got the mot coming up in 2 weeks time and i think its going to fail on the shocky :( so i need to order a pair soon.
  15. thats the one i meant i was thinking of my right when i was driving. never mind just me confusing matters as usual  so that would explain the running like a sack of sh*t before i fixed it then 8)
  16. ever since i changed the engine mounts the c had been running like a right dog. pinking rough idle and vibration. :x well when i was at the deva show on sunday i popped the bonnet to have a poke around while i was waiting for some mates to turn up, and i found a broken wire on top of the right rear engine mount, as i was looking at it from the front of the car it was the far left wire on the plug(red/white) sheared off level with the top of the plug. i took it easy on the way home and took the plug apart when i got home (had some contact pins the same left over from a jcb test rig i worked on) soldered it back together and the c now runs beautifully 8) any ideas what that wires for??? lambda sensor maybee?? :? also anyone know where i can get the clear plastic spade connector covers as most of them have turned to powder??
  17. i think those girls where on a lunch break when i went to the farboud stand :D (or they where still in school  i went on a friday) the girls on the hyundai stand where the only nice models they had on offer  a mate of mine kept asking "do you come with the car" Homer Simson stylee, dont think they where too impressed (niether was his girlfriend).
  18. the prices are from gsf the g60 ones do seem more expensive than the vr. and they dont seem to do a top mount kit for a g60 confusing
  19. are these the right ones for a 1991 g60 45560 SHOCK STRUT BQ GAS FR CO All Ex. VR6 £42.50 X2 45709A STRUT TOP MOUNTING CO 4 Cyl >7/94 £9.50 x2 they dont seem to list a bearing for a 91g60 ?????? are they included in the top mounts????? or would i be better off getting the bilstein ones from euro ?? about the same price.
  20. the same happened to me in my case i took the clocks apart and removed the lcd module (attached by 4 torx screws from the rear) cleaned the contacts put it back together and its worked fine ever since. the torx screws were also quite loose which wouldnt of helped
  21. this happened to me at 30 in a hire van .............scared the sh*t out of me. any damage to the rest of the car :?:
  22. i had my wheels balanced once and they put the balance weights in the wrong place and they caught on the callipers  .....might be worth checking.
  23. would this cause any problems :?: am i better off replacing them with a new set of corrado ones from gsf :?:
