heres a nice pair :D

just took a couple of photos to show what my shocks look like. if they are not oem any ideas of what they are :?:
-
i think they are oem as the previous owner had the car from new and had everything done by vw dealers, but the strut tubes have an external thread at the top with a notched ring for a removal tool quite similar to my old mr2 ones.
-
i recently noticed a knocking from my front right wheel when driving over bumps i jacked the car up and it seems to be caused by a worn shock absorber the shaft moves side to side in the strut slightly. the front shock absorbers seem to be an insert type (removable damper cartridge) is this correct :?: , or can they only be puchased as a complete unit :?: it would be better if i could just replace the cartridge as i would not have to get the camber and tracking done again.

the problem with the aerial is that the amplifier circuit in the aerial base is packed in foam, great for stopping rattles but it also absorbs water after a while and knackers the circuit board. while the external booster may work on some aerials it depends on how badly the circuit board has corroded inside the aerial base, when i took my aerial apart i squeezed about a shot glass worth of water out of the foam, the cicuit may have worked again one it had dried out but as it would probably just get wet again i just removed the internal amplifier and wired the mast directly which works great ive recently been told by a freind that has been a radio fitter for years and currently fits for a company used by halfords that the amplifier in the vw aerials hardly boosts fm reception at all and is more for AM and LW bands which are pretty useless anyway

a mate who used to be a vw mechanic told me it could be the damper springs on the clutch have collapsed and i am getting vibration from the engine directly through the drive shafts :?: there does seem to be a bit of slack when i pull away sometimes and the clutch has started juddering recently when it gets hot does this sound right :?: or is he talking bo**ocks

just got the english instructions e-mailed to me 8) does anyone know the standard injector flow rate as i need it to calibrate the hks unit :?: appearently this thing can even display real time bhp figures at the wheel and flywheel dont know how accurately though. its a standard 1991 g60 by the way

try this one http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/ ... lt_sub.asp

my new hks CAMP system arrived this morning 8) only problem is all the instructions are in japaneese :( but as soon as i get the english ones i will start installing it. thanks again to dilated for telling me about edge tuning they did it for a great price and kept me well informed about delivery times ect. for anyone who dosnt know what the camp system is it is a multi input monitoring system that will display pretty much any info about your engine that you need it even shows friction losses and various warnings and logs all the info. it displays all the info on any lcd screen and has digital and analogue displays as well as charts and graphs just like having a portable dyno 8) will put up details of the install when i get the english instructions :?

just called my local vw stealer they said it would take a week to get feed and drain tubes and would cost about 60 squid for both. uprated ones are cheaper than that from pitstop. but i really need them before friday (forgot to mention it was a 1 litre arosa with 5 people going to the nec otherwise) so i am desperate!!!!!!!
-
demon tweeks sell replacement bleed nipples with one way valves built in great if you have no mates
-
i have been told that teflon lined steel braided is the best to use i just need to know the dimensions for the pipe and connectors really and if they need to be banjo bolts  really need to fix it before friday or i will have to go to the car show in the back of my mates seat arosa nooooooooooo
-
while i was fiddling in the engine bay i managed to snap off the oil feed on the banjo bolt on the charger (when a bolt i was trying to undo decided to come loose after a lot of persuation and i hit the feed line with the back of my hand ouch :( ) the feed line seems quite tatty anyway and i was going replace the feed and drain soon but i need the c to get to the motorshow on friday  does anyone here know the dimensions of the pipes and the connectors as i am quite close to tweekys and can get all of the components quite cheap and use teflon lined braided hose instead of the normal ones also do the pipes have to use banjo connectors or can i use angled connectors as i thought they would flow more freely and the pitstop ones use these for the drain should be able to make both for about 20 squid 8) how much from stealers :?:

yes the aerial amplifier power supply needs to have a 12v supply. dont connect it to your battery as it may cause a bit of battery drain. if your stereo has remote out (for amp remote) or aerial out (usually for an electric aerial ) connect it to that. if not, connect it to the ignition switched supply. if this makes no difference the aerial amplifier may be knackered, and if you dont want to buy a new one you can try taking the aerial apart and remove the amplifier and connect the aerial directly i did this this afternoon and the aerial works very well without it didnt loose the signal at all over a 60mile journey. 8) i also had a brand new vw caddy van this week and the aerial on it is quite similar to the corrado one just a bit curvier and its not amplified with the same length mast as the corrado might be a cheaper alternative :?:
-
i was thinking of doing that too what do you do with the pipe from the throttle body :?: i know you need to cap off the charger a mate said he would make a machined alloy cap with a g60 logo to cap that off 8)
-
since i fitted a k&n replacement filter my g60 sounds like it has a dump valve the charger is quite new and has only covered about 10k is this normal :?: its quite a quiet noise, a short soft whistle when lifting off the throttle could i have a leak :?: didnt notice it before i changed the air filter  i am also buying a gwerks chip and pulley from a mate anyone got one fitted what do you think how much are they new :?:
-
you say you cant pick up jazz fm i think that means its working perfectly :lo is the power supply connected to the aerial :?: (single wire that is loomed up with the aerial cable behind the stereo) it should be connected to the electric aerial/remote out from the head unit it is quite common for the amplifier in the aerial to give up i have heard of people removing the aerial and by-passing the amplifier in the base of the aerial which improves the reception but its still not perfect
-
best thing to do if a bird sh*ts on your car is dump her

it really makes me mad the attitude of the police in this country (especially north wales ) the amount of uninsured chimps with their saxo's corsa's ect on the roads and the police think their time is better spent catching rally drivers speeding getting between stages or even a rally car with a broken wing mirror getting stopped or pulling people for silly little reasons like number plate letter spacing or tinted windows  in other countries the rally drivers where cheered by the pollice, given police escorts and even closed off roads for them to get from stage to stage. i even saw videos from spain of cars with two wheels being allowed to drive between stages while the police just stood there laughing about it. ah well good old blighty
-
might be able to reach it by pulling back the carpet in the boot on that side i have heard of a dent removal company that can do it without access to the back as long as its not on a crease or the metal has kinked they use some wierd motorised tool thing will try and find out
-
have a look on peach or lemon alfas seem to do quite well about the same as corrados
-
something about corrados i think i spent four hours cleaning and waxing my c last week went to a mates house parked next to his golf (no trees or phone line or anything to perch on anywhere near it ) went to leave 20mins later and it looked like a whole flock of the flying rats had emptied there load on it. (wasnt a spot on his golf) FECKIN BIRDS  probably getting their own back as a couple of weeks ago i was doing about 60(honest) a pigeon flew out in front of me just missed the windscreen only to get sucked down and under the spoiler i had to hold the switch to make sure it didnt get crushed by the spoiler when it lowered at the junction (was pretty dead allready though)
