  1. so why does the side-light bulb not light up then, are they not used ? And why are both lights not on when the headlight switch is in position 2 / dipped-position ?
  2. Hey all, Just a quick one really, I have got angel-eye headlights fitted to my rado but am having a few issues with them. Might be being thick here but it seems that when I have side-lights switched on only, the actual side-light bulbs I have fitted to the lights don't light up, there is only the glow from the angel-eye ring around the bulb, I thought the angel-eye rings were meant to illuminate together with the side-light bulbs when they were switched on ? Also when I have the dipped-beam headlights switched on the same thing happens, I do however get the main dipped headlight bulb lighting up (the one fitted with the projector beam), along withe the angel-eye ring around it, which also lights up, but the side-light bulbs remains unlit and the angel-eye ring around it doesn't light up ? Anyone else encountered similar issues or able to suggest what the problem might be, is it a wiring problem ? Cheers
  3. B******* to that mate, stick to your guns and get the true value, DO NOT BACK DOWN OR ACCEPT SOME PALTRY OFFER ! You really need to be doing the things I suggested like getting cars of similar spec prices of adverts from autotrader, the forum here, other forums. Also, get a written independant valuation of such a specced car from a VW specialist etc. Mention about complaining the insurance ombudsman and they usually start worrying ! They are trying to do to you what they tried to do to me, so don't let them get away with it ! Call me if you need any further advice on 07977 190664, Regards and good luck
  4. pau1 on here has had his (originally) candy white VR6 resprayed in Oak green metallic and looks really good. See here: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... highlight=
  5. most people don't fit 17" 5-stud wheels to their 4-stud 16V / G60 rado as to do this requires the use of 4-stud (4x100 PCD as on 16V/G60 rado's) to 5-stud (5x100PCD as on VR6 rado's, MK3 Golf, MK4 Golf / Bora, Audi TT, older Passat etc) adapters / convertors. The offset achieved through using 20mm thick off-the-shelf adapters will mean the offset of wheels if e.g et32 (as you stated previously) is reduced by 20mm, making them offset et12. The PROPER way to get the wheels on the car would be to do a 4-stud to 5-stud hub conversion (needs few parts for front, but only new discs for rear) then wheels will fit straight on with the fitting or clearance issues at all. Also, there will then be a much wider range of alloy wheels available to you to fit, as 5x100PCD is a more common wheel-spacing, esp. among VAG circles. Hope this clears things up and helps a bit !
  6. If off a TT they are likely to be 7.5 or 8" wide wheels, so should have said dep on dith will have scrubbage problems and should also have said will in ly fail MOT if tyre/wheel past edge of arch.
  7. 20mm adapters will make them offset ET12 which will stick out too far past the arches, so the arches would need pulled to pass as MOT and expect significant rubbage and clearance issues unless arches rolled and plulled, even with skinny tyres on.
  8. Exchanged battery at motor factors under warranty claim, fitted new chrome interior door handles, tried fitting handbrake gaitor but too long and need new plastic handle before sliding it on, found that the passenger footwell is soaking wet..........uh-oh !
  9. Search seems to be working fine for me mate, just use g60 and turbo in the keyword field....... PM _Monkey and IHIG60 on here, as they are running IHI turbo conversions on their G60 rados or VEEDUBBED as has lots of experience with building turbo conversions. Cheers and HTH
  10. Hi mate, from the pics I can see that your rado needs the following parts to repair it (can't see the boot floor so will not include it). Price are in the region of: Rear panel and light mounting panel £450+VAT and £250+VAT Tailgate £450+VAT (no glass) Rear bumper £420+VAT (no longer available from VAG or ECP, obsolete) Boot floor if required £350+VAT So you have a parts cost of at least £1600+VAT (£1900-ish inc. VAT), poss nearer £2000+VAT. Then there is the labour of which there will be A LOT of hours to replace rear-panel (and pot. boot floor) Then paint and materials, I would have said your looking at another £500-£750 for that, so you prob. looking at around £3000-£3500 to have her repaired by a professional insurance-approved bodyshop. That said you could probably buy a VR6 with blown engine for around a £1000-£1500, use the parts to repair yours and get it sprayed (with settlement cash). Or buy second-hand parts for about £600 (with settlement cash) and get them fitted / prayed for about the same and get it repaired completely for about £1500. They might give you the pay-out for what you insured the car for minus. your excess and offer to sell your the car back for a small sum (£200-£300). You could then get her repaired with rest of the settlement money, but be careful as they may want to register her as CAT C/D which will mean she will be much more difficult to sell on later The value of an average mile standard VR6 in good-nick if purchased on here is around £3000-£3500 (unless with leather or some other extras). Parkers value it at something stupid like £2250. Trade-price (e.g. Glasses guide which is what insurance assesors use to get base prices to decide on costs) will be even LESS. Insurance assesors usually use the "60 % rule" when deciding whether to write-off a damaged vehicle i.e. if the estimated repair costs are in excess of 60 % of the vehicles pre-accident resale value, repairs will not be authorised and the car will be declared an insurance (CAT C/D) write-off. I appreciate that this probably isn't what you wanted to hear but just let me say this. Fight for everything, put together as good a case as possible e.g. photos of pre-accident condition, private and autotrader ads for vehicles of similar spec / condition, adverts on here for cars, get a written independant valuation from a corrado specialist etc. The more of a case for the best value of a car, the more likely they will cave in and authorise repairs to your rado. I went through a very similar experience about 7 months ago now and it took me 4 weeks of hell before they finally agreed to repair my car ! They offered me £1160 for my car originally ! Good luck mate with it all and let us know how you get on, Cheers and HTH
  11. 225BHP S3 /TT BAM 20VT engine £750-£1000 (all parts included) QPEng Plug and Play Kit including pre-programmed MBE 992 ECU , 3 bar MAP sensor and your harness modified by QPEng and downpipe £1050+VAT (£1200ish) ancillary components £350 so say £2500 for parts and another £1000 for labour to install / get running (or FREE if you do-it-yourself), so safe to say £3500 max or £2500 if DIY, best bang for buck, just not very original now as everyone seems to be going 20VT !
  12. could also be the ignition switch mate, my G60 used to cut out like this when driving along before I had it replaced a few weeks ago.......one of the most memorable was when I was doing 70+mph in the fast-lane of the M1 on the way back to Aberdeen from Northampton just after I had picked her up, causing a 7 mile tail-back !
  13. volkspeed did a few 20V G60 conversions, never knew they did a caddy, but I have a mag article on a VWM Rallye 20VG60 they did for a customer.
  14. The guys name is Jeroen Dik, and his mk1 16VG60 / corrado 16VG60 produced between 300-350BHP max, but he was running silly-small pulley etc.
  15. I take you are meaning new mk5 R32 then as you can pick up mk4 R32's for a lot less than £18k ! Much prefer the mk4 R32, but then it's not my money ! But I would certainly have an R32 (either mk4 or mk5) over the Leon Cupra, better handling, chassis, build quality as mentioned above etc and look nicer too I reckon.
  16. Yeah see that 996 vs supra vs MK1 vid before, IIRC the MK1 has a VR6 turbo lump under the bonnet pushing 450 BHP or something stupid like that...........
  17. $1659 = £842, so tbh not significantly cheaper than we can find them here in the uk.
  18. I have just reserved three of these sets at another store in Scotland as my local one was sold out, going to collect them on Saturday........;-)
  19. dvla has confirmed they are not allowed to advertise currently applied registration marks, so I gave the company a quick call and mentioned "false advertising", "trading standards" and "have spoken to dvla" and they are going to remove it from sale immediatley.............clowns ;-)
  20. Interesting, 90 % of the google links from typing in my reg go to the corrado forum, but it seems that a personalised reg company is listing / selling my registration that is on my rado right now (they are also selling another forum members personal reg as well) !! Wouldn't have thought they are allowed to do this whatsoever, well we'll soon find out after a phone call to dvla.........
  21. Bit more in the ballpark there, but thought it would have been more than that actually for the mods carried out, although not 240BHP, Good luck with the forced induction plans mate ;-)
  22. My igntion switch cost £17 from the VW stealers BTW ?
