  1. Loss through drivetrain, and drag from wheels / tyres should be around 10-15 % on a FWD car so would have thought power at wheels would have been around 200 BHP, 170 BHP seems rather low for the engine I would have thought ? I have seen a lot of 2.9 VR6's around the 200 BHP mark that make 170ish BHP ATW. Maybe some others can help clarify here ?
  2. Lovely power figure mate, but nearly a 70BHP loss through the wheels is a helluva lot ?! I had a similar loss at my last RR but this was due to worn gearbox, slipping clutch and running silly 9x16" wheels on the dyno, 178BHP at wheels instead of the what would be expected 200+BHP ATW. Cheers, BigTartanJudge
  3. Not much point in including the cold-air feed tho that sits underneath, as it's only for the mk2 Golf, not the corrado. Cheers
  4. Wheels in 1st pic are the ones off an Alfa 155 Sport (4x98PCD - would fit anyway with shifting-head bolts), ones in 2nd pic are the ones I have bought and came off a E30 BMW 320i so are 4x100PCD. Any idea as to which model Speedlines ?
  5. Hey all, Just bought a set of these for decent money but not sure what they are really, think they are Speedline alloys of some sort (identical ones were OEM on the Alfa 155 Sport pack. I know they are 7x16 in size with an offset of ET25 and 4x100PCD, so should go well on the G60 to replace my Borbet C's (pretty similar design / look !) when they sell, whislt hopefully having enough room to fit over Brembo's ! Thinking of getting they sprayed black as in first pic below for the mean / stealthy look. Anyone any idea's on which type / model they are ? Cheers, BigTartanJudge
  6. You can get a brand-new set of these with tyres for £840 mate, and there have been two mint second-hand sets with tyres (one set was actually brand-new and sold for £699 !) sold on ed38 over last few months for about £550-£600.
  7. Are they proper split-rims or just split-rim look / imitation ?
  8. Price on the website is £229 inc. VAT and delivery for the G60 twin-induction kit inc. heatshield Cheers and HTH
  9. Would have thought that £300-£400 is a bit optimistic really (would probably make near £300 or more on eBay tho), they are worth in region of £250 mate I reckon. I got a set of these BBS wheel with tyres for £100 a year ago ! Ok they needed refurb but still. So with 2 new tyres and 2 half-worns would have said £250 was bout right. Good luck when / if selling, Cheers
  10. Contact VW HQ (UK) in Milton Keyes on 01908 679121, ask for customer service dept. and they will be able to confirm if it's a storm or not (although the local VW main dealer should be able to do this as well with the chassis number), Cheers and HTH
  11. I'd hazard a guess that it's a G60, seeing as the thread is entitled GUS G60 mate !
  12. When they were still in business, TSR used to offer this conversion BTW into corrado's............for £11000 fitted ;-)
  13. Re-post mate, http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= Cheers
  14. I think £1850 is a reasonable cost for all these parts including buying the engine and head (if new), allowing for the cost of doing the head, buying the cams, windage tray, sump, Kent cam wheels, stealth-modded WUR etc. Yes, you can get a 1.8T engine for £1000 but it also need about another £1000 to get bits fabricated, downpipe, intercooler, pipework, management, remap etc. Of course more bang for buck with 1.8T, but I reckon £1000 for this engine seeing you to 185BHP, with only droppin the engine straight-in, getting spark-plugs and engine-mounts (£70 for both) and setting up the dizzy required is a good price to be fair, esp. if RR at these figures. Just another opinion, BigTartanJudge
  15. They may not work, but for £30, who cares, give it a shot and report back. Seems like he has decent feedback and the guy above bought one similar for a VR6 and he thinks it's improved / increased torque / power. Only way is to get car RR'd, fit the fit, then RR again, kinda a suck it and see process. Cheers
  16. Oh the sheer comedy...........I meant they would physically fit within the confines of the engine bay, I'm so sorry I never made this clear from my post....... Cheers
  17. Yep, not great quality tho mate, but nice to see all the same, Cheers
  18. Yeah man, agreed, never said one should go and put one of these engines in tho, just that they would fit in physically (of course would need mounts fabricated etc) ! ;-) Cheers
  19. No question Alex, buy a cheap VR6 rado, R32 transplant / conversion into it, then turbo it, job-done with 450-500 BHP, should see you enough fun to start with ! Oh and welcome back BTW, knew you would return soon enough LOL ! ;-) Cheers
  20. BTW the standard Puggit 106 GTi only gives out 120 bhp at 6600 rpm and 109 lb ft of torque at 5200 rpm. It also uses the same engine as the *hitroen Paxo VTS (1.6 16v (1587 cc) DOHC). You can get them to approx. 175 BHP (still NA, cams, headwork, exhaust / manifold, rechip) for £1400 extra, and they are actually real little fliers, good roadholding and handling, but very light and not sure I would want to be in one in an accident.... Lot of pocket rocket for the money though and pretty reliable / cheap to run, although little expensive to insure as the compnaies know they are loved by boy-racers et al. You can get them supercharged / turbocharged to approx. 230-250BHP (from standard engine spec) for £2500-£3000. Or with above work done, you may see 280BHP.........which my mate is running in one that frequents Crail Raceway etc. Oh, and the 205 GTi 1.9 8v will go straight in, similarly will the Mi16 engine outta the BX GTi 16v / 405 and also the GTi6 outta the 306, if she is into big power. Also don't pass-up on the 106 Rallye, also great little cars and cheaper to buy / insure than GTi. Cambelts should be changed at approx, 70k, if not done, get it done ASAP and budget for it when haggling any price etc. Cheers and HTH
  21. Well here goes mate. I hope you took pictures if possible of damage and position of vehicles etc, this is the first most important thing. Also, I went with a claims company and they turned out to be a bunch of useless w****** when it came to getting anything done, amongst other issues....... The big incentive for these companies is they / and bodyshop they appoint receive a huge comission for cost of work, and becasue it's a 3rd-party company, going through the other drivers insurers, you don't have as many rights or leverage if things go wrong / take longer to get settled. Also be very wary, as they WILL if by ANY means possible, try to write off your car, as this costs them less than repairing an older car (this goes for all insurers not just claims / loss-recovery companies) You DON'T have to use the bodyshop the insurance company says to use, put it to any decent insurance-approved bodyshop, esp. one you may know and trust. As long as you are fully comp, you NORMALLY have a guaranteed courtesy car, for at least 30 days after the accident date (I had mine for 3.5 months) I never got mine delivered until a week after the incident tho.....(which I am still claiming for ATM). Yes, you WILL have to pay your £400 XS to the bodyshop before you get your car back and until the other drivers insurers admit responsibility of their insured, you won't get it back. Make sure that you get an XS payment receipt from the bodyshop once repairs have been authorised and completed / XS paid. As mentioned above, I eventually went through my own insurers and they eventually agreed to repair my car after showing them copies of invoices / receipts / classified adverts / independant valuations etc. and also mentioning the insurance ombudsman / court-action ! Still took 5.5 months to get resolved and XS paid back and NCD to be returned etc " Take copies of EVERY SINGLE receipt / letter / email or other correspondance you have with your insurers / brokers (pretty sure you insurers will be Highway as this is who Brentacre mostly use). This way there is no chance ANYONE can say they "never received anything" / "didn't know that's what was required" etc ! Actually, if you were injured, mention this to your insurers / brokers who will then instruct the solicitor acting for you / your case to claim for personal injury (esp. if off work / on medication). Try and obtain a written medical report from the hospital or go to your GP ASAP if you are still having probelms in near future and get this also form them. And lastly, best of luck with it all mate, you will probably (but hopefully not !) find that you get very down, disheartened, messed around, frustrated with everything, BUT persevere, and don't give in if they want to write off your car. Fight tooth and nail till the death, as they want you to give up and roll-over. If it wasn't for advice and support of many from VAG community, including on here, I would have just been another statistic. If you need any other help or advice, I am but a PM away, Chers and HTH, BigTartanJudge
  22. so andy.........why didn't you get a rado VR6 then instead of buying the mk3 vr ??
  23. Contact DHL, or Parcel2go.com for decent quotes for insured shipping overseas, or you could send Parcelforce Worldwide, but I, amongst others on here have had problems with Parcelforce, so I would avoid them, Cheers and HTH
  24. Solution, buy new shorter bolts or as mentioned already, grind them down shorter, not difficult mate, Cheers
