  1. I'd be up for a GB on mats - Would any discount be based on all being the same design or simply on the number of orders? Just thinking out loud...
  2. Matt, GSF = German Swedish French, a well-known parts supplier
  3. Nugget Yellow 'summat' - Southbound J23 M1 (I was Northbound, hence the 'summat')
  4. Actually it was a 3.1 with Shrek 268, etc, etc
  5. Actually Vince steered me away from it with standard internals :?
  6. And the mpg is only rivalled by...... the VR6 :)
  7. Is this a serious post? IMHO the guy is talking cr*p. It's the wheel that's being refurbed, not the tyre! £200 is about the going rate for a decent job... but for the wheels only :?
  8. They aren't cheap (I can't afford them yet) but the best I ever used were Bridgestone Potenza RE 050s - Used them HARD (6 trackdays and over 15K) for a year and there was still plenty left on them  . Slightly slippy in damp (rather than wet) conditions until they are warm but otherwise absolutely superb 8)
  9. Semi-slicks are the way to go for maximum trackday performance - so long as, as dinkus points out, your car is set up for it. Friends run on Avons (through BaT) in their Hondas - very reasonable part-worn offers - with baffled sumps, oil catch cans and suspension tweaking all-day to find best set-up. Looking at your specs though I would imagine you've already considered all that! One problem - do it once, you'll never go back  They never use the Avons otr though, they carry lightweight wheels to the track in the boot, first pit-stop = wheel-change and suspension drop/harden.
  10. I apologise, please allow me to reword my opinion - In the RAIN you'll be sorely pushed to find a better tyre than the F1 GSD3 but the downside is that they wear very quickly in the hotter and drier conditions of summer. Superb WET weather grip, poor DRY weather longevity. Sorry for any confusion my original post may have caused
  11. You wanna avoid Falkens like the plague with the wetter weather coming on - unless your chosen sport is Ice Dancing! They are VERY unpredictable on even a slightly damp road. Also my penny's worth, F1s are superb for winter-driving but wear very quickly in the summer.
  12.  Both top quality... Joint winners I believe - and I can't top 'em!
  13. And let's face it, those of us who DO mod our cars are TRYING to look different and to get a reaction from the crowd. Surely we don't need to debate the validity of debating our personal perception of somebody else's vision? I know that there are many on this Forum who don't like the fact that I've put a deep-grilled spoiler on my Corrado. I don't have issue with them, that is their own taste but mine is different. And I reserve their right to say "I don't much like the look of that" as much as I reserve my own right to say the same. It certainly doesn't mean I think we should all be driving round in an exact replica of my car (Perish the thought!), the whole idea is to create something that we feel improves on the original and (Heaven forbid) makes it more personal. The vehicle in question has doubtless had a lot of effort put into it but "I don't much like the look of that!"
  14. Have to agree with jimsG60 on this one - I'm not at all averse to a bit of ricing... It just really doesn't suit the SausageWagen. I have dabbled in both fields but imho oil and water do not mix. Leave the jet-fighter look to the Jap-mobiles, the lairy paint-jobs to the Californians and the plastic bolt-on bling to the Chavs and have-nots. We'll stick to our toned-down and subtle mods, thank you. Each to his own though...
  15. Classic green and kitted - Ryton island heading towards Leamington, Friday lunchtime. Waved at each other. Looking 8) 8) 8)
  16. Let's not be too harsh. At least he's... No, you're right - It looks cr*p
  17. Just checked up on the area code in their phone number and, unless they've moved well down the road, they are NOT that Expert T---- lot... This lot's in Exeter. Doesn't mean they're any better or worse though, unfortunately someone's going to have to do it the hard way to find out whether they're the real deal or not. Keep us informed if anyone finds anything out...

    ECU reset

There is no 'procedure' involved - 30 seconds without power and the ecu automatically resets itself. There should be no problems caused by resetting it unless you (or a previous owner) has rechipped it previously to take account of another mod but tbh most VW modders have used piggybacks rather than direct remapping.
  19. This is ALMOST on topic... I put Brembo 323s on my VR (Mk IV Golf kit). Discs, straight replacement; Calipers straight replacement. The calipers needed shimming in very slightly (2mm washers between bracket and carrier) but no spacers required. Did need spacers on the rear but that was due to my 8Jx17s rubbing on my also-new H&R coilovers.
  20. Yep, dinkus, I did... but I must say I wouldn't have noticed it had I not looked after last week's thread/comment by jimsG60. Cool though, it's still there... Vince is also 'plugging' the Forum (He asked me if was on it while we were chatting about future plans, etc.) !
  21. Well I must say that the impressive sig-pic might almost be worth losing ONE set of tyres! What a coooooooool pic... I'm lovin' it
  22. Just had to shout on here what we all already know - Vince at Stealth Racing is an absolute GOD. Not only does he really know his stuff but, as is not usual for people of that ilk, he is also very helpful and doesn't insist on making an unnecessary buck out of everybody who walks through the door. Example, yesterday I rang to ask him about a problem (Two detonating ISV dampers within a month). Response, a couple of suggestions and an invite to bring it down so he could look over it. Today I took it in, he did a diagnostic that brought up a couple of faults, messed about with it for an hour (that's a lot of picking about when you work at his speed), did another diagnostic (faults still present plus faster idle), reset ecu (we all know how), hey presto, VR runs better than ever. None of this is spectacular news so far. But... One-and-a-half hours labour, no parts = Free! Nada! No charge! Wouldn't even accept a drink. Now how many experts do you know with that sort of attitude? I don't know many. This is simply the opposite of a rant. The man is excellent and I recommend him, his work and his attitude to anybody who has had their head stuck under a rock and doesn't already know about them. There, anti-rant over :)
  23. Whilst the grey's make a stealth attack from the middle of the pack
  24. 8) Likin' that... Likin' it a lot! Nice all-round neat image methinks :) btw what rice-spec rims are they? I like 'em
