Nice green Storm N1 ***, Rotherham Road Cov yesterday (Sat 4th) afternoon, probably attending the wedding at St Lukes church opposite???

I know it's a long shot but can anybody identify the part in these pics? I would like to know why it decided to detonate from somewhere beneath my bonnet and deposit itself all over the floor when I tried to start up my VR this morning - As you can see, I have glued the larger pieces back together to give a better idea of what the whole piece looked like. Coincidentally it also blew the 15A fuse in the farthest right-hand dock of the interior fusebox. The car will now turn over and fire but will not continue running once the start button is released. Any help would be much appreciated.

Does anybody else get slightly [sic] miffed that companies such as this (and this one in particular) somehow find the ability to carry on trading? "The company is closing down" has to be one of the most frustrating bargaining tools in the world of merchandising. We've heard of several people getting (or NEARLY getting) turned over by them so how many are there that we haven't heard about? IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL  Tekara, I'm glad to see that you were sensible enough to return the car (Yes, we ALL fall in love with our VRs) and don't give in because of one (recurring) bad apple. As others have said, there are genuine ones out there and they ARE worth looking for...

Well here's another one for you Jim - 0945hrs today (Sat), Stoke Row, mystic blue Storm :2gunfire:

Was told that Schrick 268 cams (with chip) will approach these gains... but not absolutely sure???

I didn't have to use spacers on the front cos them is big wheels and allow for big brakes - I did however need to use spacers on the rear to avoid the wheels rubbing on the coilovers! Not an answer to your question I know but there you are. You may not need spacers to clear your rear calipers but might want to retain the wider rear track (in proportion to the front)... It's all up to you!

It's horrible to find that your worst suspicions have been confirmed (if we are actually discussing that company in Basingstoke) and it would appear that just such is occuring here. Several months ago I drove a friend of mine down (from Leicester) to check over a 'minter' 16V. Having made a prior booking we were surprised to discover the said vehicle leaving the premises upon our arrival on a test-drive. "Never mind" we thought, "It will give us the chance to have a chat and see what the crack is." Suffice to say that we glanced over the other vehicles on sale and were singularly unimpressed with their quality. We had a discussion with the 'Owner' who was similarly disenchanting - some of the claims he made regarding the performance of his vehicles and his business were, to say the least, slightly less than credible. Anyway, after fifteen minutes or so the particular vehicle we had come to view returned to the premises with its offside rear brake on fire! The prospective purchaser and vendor headed to the office, apparently oblivious to this occurence so my ally went and advised them of it. "Yeah, We know" the vendor laughed "We just got pulled for it." "They're knocking fifty quid off and I'm buying it" followed the purchaser. We left without further discussion not knowing whether the vendor's attitude to their prospective customers, their obvious attention to detail in the vehicles they sell, or the purchaser's blind courage was more worthy of our attention. I failed to bring my experience with this company to the attention of the Forum because I had not read any similar stories and felt that "maybe we had caught them on a bad day." I am only sorry that my failure to forewarn may have allowed someone less experienced than myself and my friend to fall into their clutches :( :( :(

Hmmm. Plenty of food for thought there guys, thank you all v. much for your input. Looks like I'm gonna have to talk to Vince about a 6-speed box (might as well grab an lsd while I'm at it!).

Wanted to stay NA rather than go Forced Induction - I've also heard that s/c is great for road use and short bursts but can cause problems over longer periods of pressurised use. I couldn't disagree with you more on that one. Power is no use at all if you can't get to it, and on the track I want as much flexibility as I can get.

TAROX 4 or 6 pot GB for 15" wheels - Feeler
LicklePaulie replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in Engine Bay
Slight warning - I know someone who warped his Tarox discs after two trackdays... and they said his warranty states that they're not covered for track use ("Fast Road and Track" is just a title apparently!) -
Thank you very much Dr Mat :) . Got to sort out some finances now  . As for gear-changes, you're quite right that speed was high-third/mid-fourth - this was after a whole day of open pit-lane (trying all sorts of gear combinations). Had a really good day actually, got the H&Rs set up properly (eventually), gave the Brembos a real testing, and found that gears were very long-legged. Pretty much thought that VSR/VGI would be more suitable (as well as affordable!) mod than 6-speed box. I did find the lack of lsd to be less of a hindrance than I expected - but it did stay dry all day  . Anyway, thanks to you both for the advice - will have a long hard look at my next move.

Thanks for the quick responses. Feeling a bit    cos I've just come across a thread that covers this precise subject. Kevhaywire, I realise the differences between driving on road and track and my comments are based on that experience. I offer the following example of lack of torque - by the end of the start/finish straight my VR was reaching 97mph (obviously with more to come but not the room to reach it) whilst my mate's standard 92 Prelude (running 196bhp) was reaching 110mph at the same point - though I was carrying more speed through the next three bends and was killing him down Park Straight! I MUST get that peak torque point lower into the rev-range... Thanks for the info on the airbox. I am, however, running a GruppeM ram charger so shouldn't have too much trouble with fitment/refitment as I've already put in a length of flexible hosing anyways. Final question though. I'm running a 94 (late version) VR; I assume that this means I'm running OBD1 and so precludes the use of VSR?

Took my VR6 to Cadwell Park on her maiden voyage last week. Got the handling sorted proper but found that my 205bhp takes way too long to arrive. I understand that a VSR manifold will lower the point at which peak torque arrives but don't really know much about what the VGI does. Could somebody offer up an idiot's guide to the differences and pros and cons of each type of manifold compared to the OEM version? Similarly, does anyone have any other advice regarding the above issue? Many thanks in advance...

I'm not doing myself any favours here am I? How about Flemish/Walloon and/or French? Think I'll put this one down before I turn into the class nerd...

It may be a pedantic point but I thought Belgium was a country not a nationality :nono: :?

Depends how picky you and your local constabulary/MoT testers are - FKs do not carry the 'E' stamp required to make them strictly legal. Don't know about MHWs but InPros do (and cost around £200)

At the risk of upsetting the NoRicer brigade, the best I ever drove was my last car. Honda Integra Type R (01- DC5), 220bhp straight out of the box, track-designed and boy, didn't it show! 8400rpm redline, vtec kicks in like a turbo at 6000rpm, and all at under 1050kgs.

Did several in my last car - and my C is taking her maiden voyage at Cadwell Park on Thursday :D :D :D Can't wait...

I know I'm late on this one but thought I'd throw my hat into the ring anyway. I've been running the Morpheous MicroRoadPilot for a year now and can't recommend it highly enough - All the same features as the other top-line units but much smaller and less intrusive. Check it out through the steering wheel HERE to see what I mean.

:norty: :norty: I was merely attempting to respond at the same level in which the original post was placed - and displaying the ability to avoid the denegration of fellow forum users though I may disagree with their actions (see earlier posts in the thread) :norty:

At the risk of over-extending the controversy I must take issue with this comment sir! Driving behind someone who has their rear-fogs on in heavy rain and spray can be blinding and dangerous - regardless of how close your are to that vehicle. The combined effects of light magnification and refraction brought about by the water on one's screen and the spray from and standing water on the road can make gauging distances, the distinction between foglights and brakelights, and looking where one should both difficult to maintain and extremely fatiguing. As I say, this is unaffected by one's proximity to the vehicle one is following. I therefore refute your suggestion. This is not to say that I take issue with the general tenet of your argument and nor that I disagree that 'tail-gating' is a highly troublesome and similarly dangerous phenomenon in modern driving...
