You need to get the 111s then which will be the VVC engine. On about head gaskets, the lotus's arnt ment to suffer as much because they arnt under the same loading!

I know quite a bit on these as I have to work on my friends quite a lot. Are you after a series 1 or 2? The prices on the s2 seem to be dropping more than the S1, but the s2 is more livable.

Fraid not, if you are going to park it to the side you wont be able to tell, but wen its up the middle you can tell its about 20mm out.

I just make my own single wipers, I get about a 160° wipe. Then I use the Punto arm to sit under the bonnet.

Make sure you take the bolt out off the dip stick or the bugger is a pain to get off! But it can easily be done with every thing in place, just a bit fiddly, watch ya knuckles on the fins of the rad when you undo them tight bolts!

I run single wipers on my golf and corrado and they both work fine for me! Im using a fiat punto arm.

Drill it? No just use wood screws, line them up and hammer the buggers in! Strong as an ox!

Milk shake on the oil cap does not always mean your hear is blown, if you got milk shake on your dip stick it does!

Yes there is some loss of life, but this is dependant on previous engine life and driving style! So I dont think you could work it out. Personally it dont worry me and I would say for the average you would only loose a few percent!
