Early VR6 for sale, Red, 92K, Immaculate

Bump for a great car, can't believe I've had such little interest. Is it over priced? Looks cheap to me compared to some advertised. Very frustrating when you know how good the car is and the originality has to be worth a fair bit too... -
Thanks mate, I thought this might be the case. I'll take it to an electrical place.

Hi Guys, My lights only work on sidelights or the headlights only come on with the main beam, i.e. not just on dipped beam. Is this likely to be the switch or some other relay? It has an uprated wiring loom fitted. Thanks for help in advance. Paul.

Thanks Rob. In think a lot of folk prefer the later dash etc as do I, however I bought this one exactly for the reason that it is very rare and completely original. And the condition is incredible throughout. But after 4 weeks on Autotrader I've only had one call hence the price reduction. It's so hard to know what it's really worth. I'm sure an enthusiast who comes to view will definitely buy but maybe everyone that wants one now has one!I won't give it away so it'll be back on the road and around the shows if it doesn't sell. -

I had this once and the problem was that the pump had come adrift from its fixing so was literally floating around the fuel tank causing the gauge to go up and down. That would be my first check to make sure it's located in it's fixing correctly, kind of screws into the tank floor from memory.

Hi Stephen, I am selling mine, was going to wait until the spring but am happy to discuss if you are interested send me a PM. It's a red VR, not the one on Autotrader and it's mint having had all the money spent to get it sorted. Thanks.

Hi Liam, did you get my PM?

Hi Sean, good to meet you today and no problem re your reply to my question! Guys, the issue is still unresolved. After the long run to Leeds all was well until reaching Leeds city centre and stopping at a few lights. What actually happens I now realise is the idle speed rises slightly to just bellow 1,000rpm. When it does this I know it will misfire. Sure enough it did, really badly in first and second gear for about 15 seconds, and once up to 3rd and say 30mph it sorts itself out. Very strange. I'm going to clean the ISV with carb cleaner. Any other ideas?

Very interesting thread, I am a die-hard Corrado enthusiast, having owned 7 of them on and off (but mostly on for most of my driving career since 23 years old, now 44!) I've been to Leeds today and entered the show, primarily because I didn't have to be on stand until 11am, and could leave at 4pm (which most of the show did judging by the queues to exit!). Most shows require attendance from much earlier and I just get bored with most shows after 2-3 hrs, as they're mostly the same year after year and I think I've just grown out of trapsing around admiring the same cars over and over. I went to Leeds and was supposed to be camping tonight. However for me the show was disappointing due to far too few cars in attendance (Corrado's aside and met a couple of great fellow owners). So we came home back to South Oxfordshire as I didn't see the point of staying. I think shows would get greater attendance if the terms of entry were more relaxed but appreciate this is impossible for the likes of the NEC (which I would love to show my car at but not from dawn till dusk, and that's the issue). My best friend who got me into VW's can't be bothered anymore and has lost all interest - I guess the Corrado is of an age where older members like me may be starting to lose interest and it's more of an 'effort', that's my view. As for the Corrado Club I am no longer a member and it did cross my mind today about re-joining. However the forum offers all I need, and would happily pay a small annual fee to be able to post and access the previous posts. I've never found the CGGB website that useful and the Sprinter mag was always hit and miss. I totally admire the dedication of those that keep it going and spend a lot of their time on it but as someone else said perhaps the Corrado is just too rare to have sufficient owners to warrant two websites. It would seem sensible to me to blend the effort and resource and make one great place for all things Corrado. As for attendance at shows, shorter hours of display I think would help, and why don't shows have dedicated parking areas for the different models? The best bit of most shows is the car park but you have to weed out all the non VAG stuff. Today at Leeds they could easily have 2 car parks for VAG and no VAG cars - this might encourage more attendance if people could come and go as they please within a dedicated model area rather than feeling 'trapped' in the show.

Thanks, it is the breather filter and I've ordered a new one from VW, hope this has cured my misfire! There is oil in there so yes maybe ISV clean due but how do I do this? Is that the silver cylindrical thing? Sorry I'm not very mechanically minded. Also there is a pipe coming out of the far left hand rear top side of the engine with a rubber hose coming out of it held in place by a circlip. When I look in the pipe (metal) there is a mess of fine coiled metal, almost like a heater element that's been messed up with a screwdriver, any ideas?

Hi again, not sure if I sorted it, there is a plastic canister with some sort of foam in it and 2 pipes, this has basically fallen apart so presume maybe let air in and cause a misfire? Not sure what it does. Anyway I've taped it up and so far so good. the part number is 021 123 429 if that helps anyway understand what it is and what purpose it serves?!
