Hmmmm, thanks for the helpful comments there. Got this pic of teledials on a C, I thought they looked pretty good? They are 15s but the ones I am looking at are 16s so would fill the arches a bit better. See what you think guys...

Let us know how you get on at the MOT with emissions tests. That's right, august 92 was the year regs came in, so K is after. Although according to Steve Mac, 92-94 is a grey area because not all cars had cats until sometime in 93, so you could get away with it, as long as the car passes emissions test. I think a cat has to pass test if made after 94. Mines been decatted a few years too and seems to have got through MOTs okay will see in May. My engine was done a couple of years ago too.

Next question... where is the cheapest place to get H&R hub adaptors? They are supposed to be the best? Failing that are steel ones okay, I guess these would be a lot cheaper? Cheers
-
Yeah I have the same thing K reg vr decatted, I am going to stick with mine for a while and experiment with the MOT and see if it gets through. If it does then I am not changing, if not I may consider a sports cat... Original VW cats are really expensive, although they do come up secondhand every so often for about £30. I had one but it wasnt good enough to put on so still got a powerflow decat pipe. I have left it so it is easy to put a cat on if I find a decent one. Apparently its a grey area regarding MOTs as k reg is only just after regulations came in, so could get away with it.

Brilliant thanks Henny! Now just got to find a picture of a C with them on...

No worries. Yep ET55, so if using say 20-25mm adaptors would be ET 30-35? Okay for a 7" wide wheel? Cheers
-
Yeah I already know that, these ones are 5X130. Was thinking about VR brake calipers etc any problems etc. Also with hub adaptors will they stick out too far etc. Just wanted to see if anybody had experience with these wheels and some photo's. Thanks

Hi anybody ever stuck porsche 16X7 teledial alloys on a VR6? Any problems with calipers etc. Thought they might look pretty cool on a silver C if fully refurbed etc. Anybody have pictures of somebody's C with them on etc? Thanks

That's what I thought. Power to weight beats the VR though. VR 152bhp/t vs Clio 163bhp/t. -

They have: Clio V6 mid engined, the one where the lost the back seats to make way for the engine, what a beast!!! Saw one of those in front of me recently and he put his foot down and it flew!!! -

Oakley, what is it with you always finding little cars to have a go at that always turn out to be wolfs in sheeps clothing... BTW stripped out Clio Cup 172 does 0-62 in 6.8secs.. not a slow little car. I was considering one a while back, but it's a clio! Check this out the Audi 3.2 v6's have had trouble against these critters too... http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/sho ... ber=264717 Also check this link out too, pretty cool compare the Cup to other cars over 1/4 mile: (try R32 against clio etc) http://www.jsread.com/tvr/quartermile.html Stats: By removing the air conditioning, spare wheel, side airbags, antilock brakes and sound-deadening material, this already light car has lost 196lb. Renault has also lowered its suspension and pushed its wheels out into their arches, giving more grip. The result is a car whose bald performance figures — 0 to 60mph in 6.8sec, top speed 138mph — may sound impressive but fail to convey an accurate sense of its true pace. -
Sounds good. Would also be good to inspect it while it is still on ramps so you can check the quality of the welding and fit. When I took the custom powerflow off, I was shocked at what they got away with. Some poor welding there - it had been blowing ever since fitted because they missed a section of welding. Wonder how it got through it MOTs for the 2 years it was on? Good luck.

Yep according to kev dont cut it will void the warranty and not work as well, so not advisable. If going to spend money then do it properly and drop the back axle. If not willing to do this then get a different exhaust... that's what I did in the end.
-
Was considering original ex very seriously, but I think it came down to the labour issue of having to drop the rear axle. I went for the easier route in the end and got a magnex. Very happy with it, seems to fit like a glove, looks really good (like its made for the car) and is nice and quite - esp when compared to the powerflow I had on there! Good god that was really loud  and def. not to my taste... or the neighbours! It aslo had 4 1/2 " round pipe at the back which just dominated the rear of the car. Original ex would have been first choice, supersprint just a little too expensive to justify, magnex second, followed by millitek... Magnex was around £300 from Scarborough racing about the cheapest I could find. It also only cost about £9 to deliver, which I thought was really cheap.

 I don't know why, but I found that very funny.
-
No, close, Koni/Eibach combo, wouldn't mind some H&Rs one day.
-
Wow, very nice C and some fantastic photography there! Definately has to be a contender for the proposed C forum calender that is being talked about at the minute. I will keep saving for my respray... one day...
-
Me too, I will have a Canadian Calender! and yes forum calender is a must, will buy when it comes out.
-
Yeah likewise, I had cheap white ones on the C when I bought it, but they were terrible, one was actually filled with water when I took it off!!! I found some originals and put those on, but would'nt mind some smoked repeaters.
-
Also C on ramps, thought it made a good shot...
-
New exhaust! Yes! Got a magnex oval cat back, bye bye powerflow and that 4 1/2" tailpipe. We had a look at the powerflow after it was off, very poor welding! I was meant to put the cat back on but the one I found was'nt good enough so will stick with the decat pipe for now, maybe try and source an original cat from somewhere or get a sports cat sometime in the future... Very very happy with the magnex, fits the bumper perfectly and looks awesome!!! Also sounds great! So much better than the powerflow!
-
Hey you can now change that! Congratulations! Any pics?

 this thread is getting good!

That's it nail on the head...

I must admit an S3 would not tempt me away from a Corrado, I know you get extra power and 4wd etc etc, but there is just something about the corrado. I wanted a corrado since about 1990 and made the plunge this year, 14 years after I decided I wanted one, I doubt an S3 could have the same effect, however the original quattro was pretty special. I doubt there is as much passion for the S3, but if its just power, reliabilty, newness, airbags etc that you want then fair enough. So it would have to be an rediculous car for me next time round, probably something stupid (money burner) like a TVR.... at least they dont have airbags :D, but I could be passionate about a TVR.. until they fall apart that is... hhhmmmm V8....
