  1. Are you lads calculating mpg properly or are you reading of MFA? According to my mfa i am doing 24mpg average! I just need to know really if my car could do with a good check up to locate whats wrong, fix it and in turn get more power out of it
  2. not worried about mpg because of costs involved as i dont use it all the time but concerned about any faults and engine tune in general. If it uses to much fuel something is a miss and it want perform as well as it should and i think thats the reason we all have corrados! I had other valvers and i would see 26mpg only if i try my hardest tro thrash it all the time! It would manage high 30-s on m-way all day long, this one tho strugled to get 29mpg! Deffo something wrong
  3. Lambda probe is something i suspect, will it show as a fault code on vagcom?
  4. To be honest was driving very sensibly for most of the time, maybe my timing is out but car did well on rollers so is it poss to make good power even if timing is out? what else could it be?
  5. Ok, i just did my maths and it turns out my valver thinks its a VR! 26mpg that is. I covered 783miles of which 600 were m-way driving. My car used 117ltrs of optimax/ultimate. What are the usual reasons for poor consumption? Its a 2.0l valver with kr cam as only mod
  6. Where is the temp sender for the fan?
  7. Noticed that my valver gets quite hot in slow traffic, oil gets up to 120 deg, fan only works on low speed, is my thermostat faulty?
  8. Daves16v.... Yes it does have CAT and a standard exhaust also(cheap version). I was told by ex vw m-sport mech that 16v engines only run in properly at 100k!, provided regular servicing
  9. I have a standard 2.0l apart from kr cam, it has 158bhp which is not that high but it has 157 lbsft torque, not bad ey?, considering 160k miles!
  10. No no, you are charging plenty! :thumb right: :thumb right:
  11. Cheers kev, i'l get it than and make it fit! Worth the effort due to price £35!
  12. And how anout standard exh size on a valver? Same?
  13. This is 2.5 inch which i think will be 1/4 inch to wide but my m8 can make an adaptor to fit perfect, it was physical size and fixing points location i'm worried about. Whats the bore size of standard exh?
  14. Got a chance to get cheap second hand scorpion back box of a vr6(not sure the year), will it fit my "94 16v rado? It has bar type hangers same is mine. Cheers
  15. I have a freshly rebuilt/tuned 2.0l 9a on my garage floor whith 3k miles on it. It has balanced bottom end, p/p head with 264 cams. If i was to put this engine in my "94 rado 16v, and increase fuel flow on meetering head, will i benefit from a remap than? What power should i expect to get out of it?
  16. thats what i am suspecting to be, but not sure what are the main symptoms. Will a vag-com hook up come with a fault code if it is faulty?
  17. Wierd thing is it never wanders up or down in any one single jouney no matter how long, but if i turn engine off and than restart again after few minutes thats when it happens! Idle than goes up to 1200rpm or more and eventualy it settles to where it should be. i think is electronic related rather than vacum or similar, could it be water temp sensor or ecu it self?
  18. my m8 is making me one soon, when he gets a spare hour or two, he is using original mount for a base
  19. already cleaned out the isv, timing screw? :?:
  20. Hi chaps, i'v got standard 9a valver apart from perf filter and kr cam. It has good power/torque 158bhp, 154lbf tqe, but i'v noticed fuel consumption is heavy, just manage 30mpg on long m-way run, calculated not going by MFA which shows 26mpg on long run. Also idles dodgy sometimes. It starts ok but even if very cold idle settles at 800rpm straight away, is this normal? Than after short journey if i restart car after few min it idles(sometimes) at 1200-1500rpm, why is this? Also when engine warm after long m-way run it idles at 500ish rpm. What could be causing this? Dont fancy booking it into garage if i could do some checks my self first. Could it be lambda probe? Thanks
  21. Looking good with those wheels gareth! Havnt seen them in flesh yet. Since you saw my C last at ed38 it changed a bit with addition of kr-cam, mesh grille, eyebrow spoiler,in-pro rear lights(temp mod),clear repeters,fk konigsports up front, koni ssk-s rear, uprated headlights loom, and on inside kahn steering wheel, chrome gear knob, chrome handbrake cover. Like you said all mods are reversible and will be reversed some time next year when car goes up for sale as i want a vr6. That is if i can find one in spec/condition i want as i am intending to keep it for a loooong while. maybe i would of done more mods on a C but mk1 keeps getting in the way as i am trying to have it on the road by late january. I am sick of taxying my missus about! Anyone looking to purchase a very straight, tidy late valver next summer?
  22. I'v never bought a new car but am seriously considering buying mk5 gti brand new and keeping it for a long long time, cos i think thats the only way to get value for money when buying a brand new car. I love the looks(still not sure about rear end), and it seems like a good drive from factory with plenty of scope for tuning!
  23. Just like most of you lot on this forum i hate fords and its drivers, but deffinitely wouldnt say no to focus rs! Its a blinding car, remember when jeremy clarkson tested one, he disclosed that ford was producing these cars at a loss of around £4k! Still cheap advertising tho
  24. Would of done but muppet behind counter said "It wont fit to your vw mate"!!!, than after i assured him things can be modified to fit, he said " it's hundred quid than"! Fuc**n idiot, thats why i didnt bother, but will keep an eye on accords from now on 8)
