  1. We sell the Goodridge hose kits (set of 6) ... :D
  2. Laser quality is ok, not great, but they work okay - the problem is that the Laser rewind tools are not designed for & don't fit the VW calipers very well.
  3. Be careful with the Halfords caliper windback tool (same as the ones we sell) - not specifically designed for VW's but will do the job with care.
  4. My knowledge of gearbox intenals is fairly minimal but you'll need at least 1st & 2nd synchro, possibly reverse, full gasket set, gear selectors (depending on condition) & I'd also replace whatever bearings are in there too.
  5. Moved to "Engine Bay" section. Miltek do a full system, including CAT bypass. Contact JMR racing - 16VG60 here on the forum. He specialises in Miltek systems & should do you a good price.
  6. Somebody posted this link on here fairly recently - http://www.chavscum.co.uk/
  7. fla, Were the brakes just visually inspected or were they removed & refitted ? The sensors are basically magnetic switches that take a reading from the rotating metal ABS rings. If they are knocked when re-fitting the brakes - they will give a false reading. If they are very dirty - they will also give a false reading. If they have not been plugged into the wiring harness correctly - they will give a false reading. If the wiring becomes trapped in the suspension - they will give a false reading. With the fault codes that you have - I would expect the ABS light to be glowing constantly while the ignition is switched on, maybe your bulb has either blown or been removed. The ABS light should always glow for a few seconds every time the ignition is switched on, while the car does a quick diagnostic check & then go out again. So far as I'm aware, the new ABS rings come with the new rear discs or with the new front hubs - I'm not sure if they're available seperately. As for the grease - I just use standard "high temperature" general purpose grease.
  8. You didn't mention that the ABS light was on.. Your noise problem is likely to be a damaged ABS ring - there's 1 attached to each rear brake disc & 1 attached to each front hub. Speed sensor problems - at least 1 of them will be also due to the ABS sensor ring. The others will either be damaged or dirty. Have you had the brakes replaced recently ??
  9. Found one about my "other" job too ........ http://books.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/cpc_5101_ ... opunder=no
  10. So far as I'm aware - so long as the rest of the engine is functioning correctly & the timing is set according to the octane being used - higher octane fuel will always yield more power... If higher octane fuel is used without adjusting the timing to it's new optimum setting - little or no difference will be felt.
  11. I get more power with Optimax & that's what I'm sticking to...
  12. Sounds like a plan to me - although I'm sure there will be a catch...... :(
  13. When I worked for VW, we didn't use Magnatec - we used Castrol "Protection Plus" 10w40 semi synth.. We used to buy it in bulk at 58p per litre & sell it at £5.99 per litre..
  14. Synta oils are not available in bulk - or they weren't 3 years ago when I worked for VW. 5L cans would work out way too expensive for dealers to use in the quantities that would be required.
  15. I've downloaded it & can't seem to play it back. Tried windows media player (error downloading codec's) & also tried quicktime (software to play this file is not available on the server).
  16. The black one with the black wheels looks stunning........... 8)
  17. Magnatec causes oil pressure issues in some particular engine designs but is perfectly okay in others. My advice remains the same as it has always been - only use oils specifically recommended by the vehicle manufacturer....
  18. You'll notice some but not too much - you'll notice more by combining it with a re-chip.
  19. All Corrado G60's had CAT's on them - not sure about Golf's though.
  20. Moving to "General Car Chat" as this is not an "Event Announcement" Track days at Castle Coombe are organised a few times per year - usually not during winter though... Keep an eye on the events section, as announcements will be made in there as soon as each event is organised.
  21. Stainless de-CAT pipe going on mine too - when I get around to re-building it..... 8)
  22. Me too - saw the show - Clarkson's face was a picture........
  23. So thats what a Super Mod is....
