AFAIK - piston cooling jets are the only oil supply to the little-end bearings (upper con-rod bearings). Removing them may cause slightly increased wear in the little end bearings, slightly higher piston temperatures & increased bore wear. Whether or not this would be a problem will depend on car usage. If your car is a "daily driver", I would suggest that you leave the jets where they are - if possible.

I filled up last month, here in Birmingham & paid 103.9 pence per litre .
-
keithmac, Looks like you need a 6PK1315 ribbed belt. No sure if we (GSF) sell that particular size but I can check on Monday, if you still need one ?
-
A few psi lower - not sure exactly how much though. There should be a sticker in your driver's door frame - visible as you open the door.

Dubbin 24/7, Just in case your local branch's computer system hasn't yet been updated - make a note of the GSF front caliper part numbers mentioned earlier in this thread. Rear calipers are listed on our system, your local branch will be able to find these without a problem. There is an old unit surcharge on each caliper - this will be refunded when you return the old calipers - preferably in the boxes that your new ones arrive in.

woody, Your branch were correct. PM sent.
-
BREMBO . Your local GSF should have some in stock.

Good job he wasn't feeling horny . :censored:  -
Is the throttle linkage activating the idle pin-switch on the throttle housing ? Sounds to me like the linkage isn't returning properly.
-
Clean your idle valve with either petrol of carb cleaner, then plug it back in (may sort your idle problems out). 1.8-16v has Bosch K-Jetronic injection. This is system is fully mechanical & has no setup mode. If the engine still doesn't run properly, after sorting the idle valve out - Does it start okay from cold ? Does it run okay when hot ? Does the external fuel pump (under floorpan next to OSR wheelarch) buzz when you switch the ignition on, before you start the car ? Is this pump noisy when the engine is running ?

Suffice to say that we DO stock them (in quite large quantities) - our application listing has been updated today . Same caliper fits a large amount of vehicles in the VAG range & we had completely missed the fact that they also fit both the 1.8 & 2.0-16v Corrado's.

Lucas part No. BHW201 & BHW202 (will be printed on outside of box) GSF Part No. 65661 (rh) & 65660 (lh) £39.95 each + vat The Lucas calipers that we stock all have the drillings - just like in the piccy above.
-
Not sure if they were 15 years ago though ? Different designs of caliper would suggest mabe they weren't.

Dunno - I seem to remember a large phillips screw head, in the hub, behind the front disc. May have been on my Toledo - can't remember.
-
colourblind, You mean the large phillips screw in the hub - so far as I know, that secures the ABS ring ? I was talking about the much smaller phillips screw that secures the disc to the hub.
-
I'll have a look tomorrow
-
Could be that the Lucas one fits more than 1 type of vehicle - what's the Lucas part number - should be on the box
-
I have no idea what the screw holes are for . Could just be that the Lucas one is made to fit more than 1 type of vehicle.
-
Yep - that's the late type hanger

Sometimes its not worth doing it yourself....

Blown, Clutch is probably the only thing that I'd get somebody else to do. Complete arse of a job. -
If you've removed the old discs & the screw is still there - it IS broken. Old disc won't come off, without either removing or breaking the retaining screw.
-
Ventilating the engine lubrication system & lubricating he scroll seals in the supercharger. AFAIK - there aren't 3 oil pressure sensors - at least one of them is an oil temp sensor.
-
U mean it won't fit because the screw holes are in the wrong place ? Get me the Lucas part number & I'll check fitment when I get to work tomorrow. Unusual to be supplied a pair of calipers which are different makes.

Nice one, cheers Bilal .
