g60griff, Mine does exactly the same - disconnected lambda probe & car runs much better. As disconnecting the lambda makes a difference, I don't think that's the problem although I'll be renewing it this weekend. I'll let you know when I cure the problem. So far - I have new injectors, rotor, dizzy cap, plug leads, plugs. Old plugs had done approx 6k & were still in good condition - changed them anyway. Tried both W6DPO & W5DPO - no change to problem. Blue temp sensor is good & I also have SNS chip. Problem on mine feels just as though either the timing or fuelling is way out (timing ok - set to 6 degrees BTDC last weekend). Fuel pressure & flow to be checked this weekend, I have a new pump here which I can fit if necessary. All vac pipes are less than 12 months old but I'll also be replacing those this weekend too.

Anybody know what the differences are between the early & late G60 throttle bodies ??
-
Beaker, Nice one, glad you got it sorted m8.
-
dr_mat, "type" should make no difference. When the calipers are correctly fitted, the handbrake handle should be nice & tight. Your handbrake cables either need replacing or were not correctly tightened when the cables were re-attached to the calipers.
-
Supercharged, The springs usually stay quite strong but the handbrake operating arm becomes stiff - it starts to seize where it passes through the caliper body. This stops the handbrake from completely disengaging & makes the handle feel "loose". The knock-on effect of this is that the rear brakes stay partially applied, causing the rear brakepads & discs to wear prematurely.
-
We're talking about the small pipe that goes to the MFA. Likely to have come off the back of the clocks or fallen off the connector on the brake servo vac pipe in the engine bay. The MFA measures pressure in the inlet manifold via this small pipe.

It's not Nigel Mansell boosting his pension then .
-
Cables should never need adjusting. Once the rear shoes & discs are replaced, cables should be re-attached to the caliper & slack taken out at the handle with the securing nuts. If the handle ever feels "loose", the calipers are likely to be on their way out.

I have a spare (working) vacuum sensor still attached to a spare set of clocks that I have. Give me a shout if you need it.

How can I fit an EV B reg Mk2 cylinder head to a G60?

1024 is atmospheric pressure - I suspect your vacuum pipe has become disconnected or has a large leak.
-
Beaker, Most body repair centres will have the equipment needed to correctly measure & adjust the front camber. Depending on your suspension height, laser measuring/alingment equipment may be required.

Doesn't the MK2 1.8 GTI use K-Jetronic injection ? If that's the case, the correct (Digifant) injectors won't fit.

Well - as we (GSF) don't sell it, I got mine from a local motor factors. Make sure you ask for "fuel hose" though - it's fabric reinforced rubber pipe. -

Fitted some lighting "tints" this weekend. All of the front lights now appear as dark as the back ones. Optically transparent tinting film that I got from the states - I'll post some piccys at the weekend, when I'm at home during daylight. -

Cheers Ben, although I'm sure it pales into insignificance when compared to a conversion like yours . 8) -

timg60, Megastar are looking very good - we (GSF) are supplying them now too . Just hope Rimstock can supply the correct offset & width that I want. -

timg60, Trimming isn't a good idea - the old hose will be just as worn all the way down. Use 8mm fuel hose & just cut it to length, mine works a treat now. -
Samco's only replace the rubber hoses - not the plastic pipework.
-
Believe it or not - there IS a small amount of rear adjustement. Rear axle has a small amount of sideways adjustment - mounting brackets have elongated mounting holes, alowing the axle to be centred correctly.

Pipes on my G60 looked in good condition at the fuel rail end. The badly perished end was where the pipes attach to the fuel lines to/from the tank. A metre of 8mm reinforced fuel hose sorted the whole job out. -
Which one is faster 1.8 16v Corrado or 2.0 16v Corrado ?
stevemac replied to VWci's topic in General Car Chat
Still doesn't give the 1.8 as much power as the 4-star it was originally designed for. -
If you've lowered it, you'd be well advised to have the front camber re-adjusted too.
