There should be a model number on the siren - this will confirm wether it should be battery backup or not
-
What r u hopin to achieve here Dazzy ?
-
"Sales" guidelines apply to all sections of the forum. Technically he is selling - auction ?
-
Due to the increased cost, battery-backup sirens were only fitted to the CAT1 systems. Stuff a rag over the siren (to lower the volume). Arm the alarm & then disconnect the car battery. If the siren still sounds with the car battery disconnected then you almost certainly will have a CAT1 system fitted. If the siren will not sound with the battery disconnected then you definitely do not have a CAT1 system. Battery backup sirens are a requirement for CAT1 certification. You will need to re-connect the car battery to disarm the system, regardless of which type it is.

You thought this auction was credible, i.e.actually beleived it's ridiculous claims ?
-
Appologies for opening a "can of worms" here. This link was posted in humour - we all should know (G60 owners at least) that the claims in this auction are just not possible. A 30bhp gain just by fitting a replacement chip to a standard (unmodified) G60 is nothing short of a total lie. The link was posted so that we could all have a laugh. Description make your g60 powered ride really move with this performance chip.190hp doesnt need smaller pulley, but will produce more power if fitted though.20%torque increase better on fuel, cost over 250£ never used, self fit from germany, easy to install.
-
Will be worth flushing the radiator too - any crud in the system may block it.
-
This might show if you have a vac leak
-
I used to have a dog - she moved out..

What do ya think to this then ?? Description Make your g60 powered ride really move with this performance chip.190hp doesnt need smaller pulley, but will produce more power if fitted though.20%torque increase better on fuel, cost over 250£ never used, self fit from germany, easy to install. Direct quote from ebay auction..

Make sure you use the correct coolant - must be G12+ from Volkswagen.
-
Sounds like you have a blockage somewhere. Is coolant circulating through the expansion tank ?? There is a small hose connecting this tank with the radiator top hose. As there is a pressure release valve in the expansion tank, this may be the hose which is blocked. Are you using G12+ coolant ??

omg - why not just get some replacement lenses/lights ??

Thought I'd got "done" a while ago by a forward facing camera. Turned out what I saw was just light reflecting off the camera & not a flash.

Ahh - I should have read your tagline.. :clown: Well - cambelt ain't your problem. If it was 1 tooth out, your car may/may not run - it it did it would be like a "bag of spanners". It it was 2 teeth out then it wouldn't run at all. Jabba tend (in my experience) to adjust the cambelts far too tightly. This does affect the timing between the crank & camshaft slightly. Have the belt tension checked. Their chips also have a tendancy to overfuel (run too rich). I would contact Darren (g-werks) or Steve (pitstop developments) they both share the same premises & are not too far from you. http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5638

170 bhp would not be achievable if the timing belt was even 1 tooth out. I doubt very much that this will be your problem. If you're still running the standard VW chip, the I'd be surprised if you see any more power. Check the DIY section of http://www.snstuning.com there's a few possible causes listed on there. What sort of bhp output were you expecting ?

The Scorpion CAT1 alarm system available when Corrados were still in production will have been based on their 918 model. From memory, the rectangular handset had 2 buttons - 1 raised & 1 concave (some also had a small slider switch on the side). For Thatcham approval, this system had to be fitted with a "battery backup" siren i.e. the siren will still sound even when the battery is disconnected. All of the wiring on Thatchan CAT1 systems is black - there is no colour coded wiring at all. Visual identification of the alarm wiring system is not possible. Scorpion also marketed a "budget" 915 system which had a very similar handset with only 1 button. This system was not Thatcham approved.

Replaced the chain tensioner and cams last night.

Not usually, duplex chain systems are very reliable. The larger sprockets will be the first to show signs of wear. So long as they're okay the smaller ones will be fine. -
Well spotted Dave - I'll lock this one.
-
Great - I can use it at the family christmas "singalong"..  Cheers

Here you go :- http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5634 or you could try :- http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5636 for garages closer to you.

As has been stated earlier in this thread - the later type bonnets began to be fitted to some of the Corrados in late 1991. There was not a definite cut off point/date. It is quite likely that your car was manufactured while the early bonnets were still in use.
