Standard chains are single width - similar to a bicycle chain. Duplex chains are double width & the sprockets will have 2 sets of teeth. -

I might have an original VW G60 chip at home somewhere - send me a PM if you want to try it & I'll see if I can find it for you. If that solves your fuel consumption problem then your Jabba chip is the problem

Laserline CAT1 series costs around £300 in vat - fitted

Others to look for are:- Fuel filter (change every 2 years) Dirty Idle Stabilisation Valve - fits on top of cam cover. Faulty blue temp sender Incorrect timing adjustment Ageing/incorrect spark plugs - essential to use Bosch W6DPO on a G60 Faulty Knock sensor - or damaged wiring
-
Current weather conditions may have highlighted dodgy plug leads & distributor cap. When it's running "lumpy" have a look under the bonnet & see if you can see any of the leads shorting out - easier to see after dark.

Had a similar problem with my old Scirocco 1.8i - similar mechanical k-jetronic injection system. Turned out to be a sticking throttle cable. When your engine is idling at 2000rpm, lift up the bonnet & check the cable is releasing properly. Cable & mechanism should be either on top of or at the back of the cam cover, next to the thottle housing on the inlet manifold. Could also be a 5th (cold start) injector problem or a problem with the "warm-up" regulator - part of the cold start system. Quite common with this type of injection system.

Looky what Father Christmas had brought me early!!

Not sure what they're made from but IMO highly polished Aluminum Alloy is the best stuff to use. Steel is a total waste of time for the reasons that G60 has already posted. -
Not if done properly - this guy's been doing them for years

Whatever floats yer boat ehh.

Hence Jabba's very deliberate omission from our "recommended garages" section

SNS chip will require 3.5bar (uprated) fuel pressure regulator. I would suggest that you have the car professionally set-up when you fit the parts. You'll also need a shorter poly v-belt. IMO - Jabba stage 4 chargers don't really give too much more power than standard.

Ideally none of the arches will need any paint at all. However - on some occasions the paint may crack during the arch rolling process & require re-painting. Some body repairers will fold back the entire arch lip, the paint is then required to "stretch" slightly (increased risk of cracking). Other body repairers (including Autotech) will grind the excess wheelarch "lip" away almost completely. This method takes longer to do but has much less chance of requiring paint.

The Lord Bentley says :- (With ignition switched off) - Check wiring connector, installation of speed sensor and pulse wheel. - Check whether speed sensor incorrectly connected. - Test resistance of speed sensor (1.0 ... 1.2 k ohm). - Check wiring to speed sensor; move wiring when checking (loose contact). - Check Insulation resistance of screened wire to Right Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G45) Minimum 2m ohm - Check wiring for damage (chafing); move wiring when checking (loose contact). Dazz - Try Autotech, Ings Road, Wakefield - 01924 291233, ask for Sid or Vitu. Both have many years car body modification experience - I've known them for 10 years. They'll sort out your arches but may need to see the car to give you an accurate price.

Although I'm a little older than you (34), my insurance is £847.50 fully comp. 9 points (6 for driving without due care & attention ! ), 2 yrs no-claims & my policy even covers me for any mods upto 250bhp !! (including wheels, supension, etc)

I look forward to the drive home more that actually arriving !!

Was ANY other work done at the same time as the charger ?? If not then it should be possible to narrow your list of possible causes. Low battery on my G60 - If it has enough power to spin the engine then it starts, if it doesn't have enough to spin the engine then the alarm goes berserk !!

I'm surprised nobody ended up with whiplash. You reckon it might repair.

May be possible to do in a large vice (with a struggle), a hydraulic press uses a lot more force & makes the job much easier.
