  1. sorry to hear about that mate. I met your dad when i bought the doors and wings from your old mk1 golf remember? He seemed like a lovely bloke.
  2. i am certain that once it registers some faults that it deems serious then they stay permanently and the doesnt run right until they are cleared. You are definately pissing into the wind if you havent got vag com mate. if you had the r32 clocks installed they would probablies be lit up like a christmas tree. As it goes you have no way of diagnosing faults!
  3. have you run the throttle adaptation on the car yet? if you havent plugged vag com in then you will probablies have a whole host of errors on there that need clearing!
  4. I promise i will get some snaps up at the weekend, and maybes even a video or two! I will bear that in mind if I do decide to sell it pete, and yes its got the cams and has been remapped. No cats at all, and nice free flowing exhaust. i think its as far as you can take it without going for thottle bodies. Some 4wd data would be ieal mate. Get it posted up. I havent had the 4wd done yet, as i havent got any adjustment on the rear yet, and I wanted that setting up first. just as an extra bit of info mates stage 2 supercharged vr6 golf managed 140 up that same hill!
  5. no idea why. possibly gearing. I was only going off feel, so possibly a bold statement, but that was how it felt. plus the rs6 is a 2 and a half ton car, so the power to weight ratio closes right up. I am not bullsh1tting, I couldnt care less what my car is faster than, I drive like a fairy 99% of the time anyways lol anyways, there is no way the charger is going on this with the gearing as it is, i would spend more time inbetween gears than in them. I definately think i am getting too old to be blasting about in sports cars. It just doesnt excite me like it used to.
  6. due to the hideous cost of supercharger brackets, I have had a look and my mate machinist mate reckons he will be able to knock them out original spec, for a fraction of the cost to buy originals. 12 and 24v ones. I have a 24v one for him to copy, but i need a 12v one to copy too. this way you can just buy the charger on its own from ebay or where ever and not have to pay the extortionate prices of VF etc. just wondered if it would interest anybody?
  7. I havent got any! I am going to give it a good clean at the weekend, and will take some photos then
  8. Little update: Been using the car as my daily now since it was taxed, and as of yet, has not let me down. now that i have all the interior in its a lot quieter, still a little loud tho. needs a bearing on the front changing over. as for pace, its feckin astounding! It pulled 160 up quite a long steep inclince the other day, i was astonished! I was out in my mates brand new rs6 avant yesterday, and i am not lying when i say there wasnt really much in it pace wise. mental. I think its the gearing that makes the car so quick. anyways a couple of crappy snaps of the interior of the car. still a work in progress but its getting there. dashboard install. its very nice, but needs finishing off, I havn't really done anything with the center consol and gear surround yet. view in the back. It was dark at the time so sorry for the crap pics.
  9. well vag com would throw a 'lambdas in back to front' error if that was the case. It certainly sounds the case mind?! I would try that before you invest in new lambdas
  10. well there is naff all to it. its 2 solid bits of metal with a few holes drilled in it. I will easily be able to make them up for, say, 700 euro lol
  11. charger is the same, the bracket is 24v specific. all the pipework is 24v specific, and looks to be useless to me... alps sounds good!
  12. was only planning on running low boost, seriously its quick enough! I kind of wanted to keep the stock inlet as it really does increase the low down punch of the car.
  13. well theres no need for that! :D I might get the mounting brackets copied if anyone is interested in sticking a vortech on their 24v lump?
  14. i have the best of both worlds, I am old but i only look 22 lol
  15. i paid 750 quid FC agreed at 9k with HIC
  16. was messin about in the garage tonight, and instead of doing something productive I ended up playing with this: its a pucka mk4 golf R32 full setup bar the remap, but most of the pipework is useless to me as I have zero space at the front of the car anymore. So i had to clock it back round 180 degrees and put it in the standard vr arrangement. Still going to be bloody tight going that way too, becuase of the bigger mk4 brake servo and master cylinder. Not ideal putting pipework along the back of the engine and through some 180 turn and back into the throttle body, but i have no other option really. A glimpse of things to come (maybes) can you squeeze a pipe in there???!
  17. DONT TEMPT ME!!!! you know i have a DSG box in my garage!
  18. clearly  yeah the r32 will let you pull away with just the clutch, but with mine, the 02M box interfacing with the corrado clutch mastercylinder has an affect of sharpening up the clutch action considerably. when you first drive it feels like its either on or off, but you get used to it. its actually quite smart, all the controls on my my car are now razor sharp, accelerator, brakes and clutch. Just how it should be.
  19. well mine is at 62cm from the floor, and has about the same camber, I think I am going to have to make a device for measuring the camber properly.
  20. problem is I am running an 02M gearbox, which has 2 final drives! no idea how it works, apart from one does the first 3 gears and the other does the top 2. Sounds like a complex setup to me. I am no gearbox expert either. 70mph in top is 2800rpm. With 6 closely spaced ratios like that makes for crazy acceleration. Took the girlfriend out in it at the weekend. Good job she likes her extreme sports cos she nearly cacked herself when i set it away  edit: as kev says :) I think the gears are fine now, as sub 3000rpm at 70mph is acceptable, but if i install the charger i am not sure my gearchanging arm is capable of moving that fast lol
  21. :D cheers mate :) yes the throttle is a bit switch like, takes a bit of getting used to how quickly the engine picks up. In the back of my head i was considering a lightened flywheel, but feck that! it would be ridiculous! I may have to go to the 45 profile tryes though mate, first gear is practically pointless! come to think of it so is second - I can pull away in third without any problems!
  22. bend over Rob, and prepare to take it up the butt from your insurance company lol
  23. the adaptation process definately does something else in addition to the ign on process, as mine was running like a bag of poo until i did that. give it a run, it wont do any harm! when you check the measuring blocks on the throttle position, you can see what its trying to do, and the idle setup stems from there. It needs to know when the throttle is at zero pecent so it can flip it into idle mode. Anyways I am sure its a minor thing to sort out. its running and thats the main thing!
  24. its the setup of the drive by wire pedal. the ecu has to recalibrate new pedals to match them with the throttle body, and so it knows its limits. In vag com, engine module, basic settings, and i think its 05 or something (i forget) to perform throttle adaptation. it then does it, and you are done! piece of piss really
  25. well my lambdas were both knackered too. they mustn't like being stood for ages. Mine was miss firing and allsorts with the old lambdas in it.
