  1. i would prefer to use longer bolts (within reason) over the double bolt type, as you effectively have you wheels bolted to a block of alluminium - that cant be good!
  2. A friend of mine ran a full braided system on his brakes, and he said it made the pedal spongey. I suppose you will have to suck it and see :)
  3. ok. I have replaced the dsg part of phase 2, with peloquin ATB for the haldex, and an uprated haldex controller for the ultimate in 4wd traction :)
  4. it wont be going on immediately, I need the car as its going to be my daily. I think if i install the charger then i may just sell the dsg box on, and stick with the 02M 6 speed. I will use the money from the dsg to purchase an uprated haldex controller ;) and if i need more power again i will sell the vortech and go rotrex :) cheers lads not sure what i am going to do once its all road legal - its going to be weird!
  5. After a bit of advice/inspiration from the team :) As most of you know I have a 4wd R32 corrado, its just waiting an MOT right now, but i am on crutches for 4 weeks following ankle surgery, and i have been sat thinking about phase 2 (as you do) I have in my possession a full VF supercharger kit for a mk4 Golf R32 minus the remap obviously, and I also have a DSG gearbox too. I am unsure which route to go with the car. I think its either going to be one or the other. I suppose i could fit both but then i would have to get the gearbox remapped too, aswell as the ecu, and I dont think i want to spend that much on it to be honest. i guess i will have to see how quick the car its current setup to decide whether i need more power or not. answers on a postcard.
  6. the other one is for the exhaust flap on the r32 i am fairly certain. Mines blocked off too. unnecessary. well if you try your pedal on a mk5 diesel thats only going to prove that it works with diesels! you need to try it on a petrol motor if that is the case.
  7. what size tyres and what width wheels are those? seems like quite a bit of stretch on those walls? lovely wheels though.
  8. Is yours the Mk4 one? Mk5 pedals bolt to the floor so no clearance problems, just need to find a good position and bolt it down. Will do that next weekend though with Kev as the ECU's not even registering the pedal yet so need to figure out why! Might all take a bit longer AGAIN as my downpipes don't fit right. I fitted my decat and they are pushing the whole exhaust tight against the side of the tunnel so there's no movement. Not ideal really :( ah right, I used the mk4 pedal, and welded a mounting bracket to the pedal box. you should be alright then. I take it the accelerator pedal you are using came with the whole setup? (being mk5 an all?) All i remember about the accelerator wiring is that its completely self contained, and has its own loom, albeit bound up with the rest. Soom regulation that states mission critical components must be directly connected to the ecu or something. first thing i would do is try a different pedal if possible, or see if you can plug your pedal into a mates mk5 (more likely to happen) and see if it works correctly. I have all the mk4 r32 wiring diagrams about somewhere, I will have a dig about.
  9. nice to see you back jay after all this time. and yes i still havent finished mine...
  10. nice work dude. have you tried fitting up the accelerator pedal yet? you may find you have an interference problem with your corrado fuseboard. I did. there are ways round it though...
  11. reason i ask is one of the cars at work (07 vw passat) gave up its life when water entered the engine. saying that the stupid tw4t did attempt to drive through a frickin mini lake though lol those undertrays wont do nothing to stop a high water level, they will stops splashes at best, but clearly it isnt an issue.
  12. thats an awesome setup you have there, why bother with 24 valves when you can get that sort of results with the original 12 eh? question: and i suppose this goes for all supercharged VRs - do you worry about water ingress into your engine with the air filter set so low in the wheel arch? with the weather we are having lately there are some big puddles about that could possibly be disasterous? I have a VF charger setup for mine, and will end up with the filter in the same position, but i am not sure i am entirely happy about that! just a thought.
  13. mine is like that, and needs sorting, the painter should have done it when i gave him the car, but thats another story...
  14. why buy another set of problems? better the devil you know.
  15. awesome work dude! how close to the outside of your wheel arch is the outside of your wheels? they look like they are right on the out edge? do you get any rubbing with heavy cornering?
  16. Well as a few of you are doing 4wd conversions on their corrados now, and most are away that fitting the mk2 syncro rear axle to the corrado incurs a lot of negative camber, I have set about putting together some kits to allow proper camber and toe adjustment for said syncro axle. The kit consists of a number of channelled slotted plates that are welded to the swing arm pivot points, and some replacement eccentric bolts. just wondered if there would be much interest in this? I have them for my car now, and will be fitting it up in the next month or so I would say. Price is going to be round the 150 mark when you take into consideration the raw material, machining time and bolts. Just trying to gauge some interest.
  17. sounds lush. Beginning of june is when it becomes my only car  that weird cat like noise is my girlfriends attempt at a car noise bless her :) heres another http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/C ... rakes2.flv
  18. a little vid. not ragging it as it has a few niggles and knocks, but it sounds really nice. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/C ... rakes1.flv
  19. cheers pete, my company car goes back on june 3rd, so its got to be sorted by then! its going to be weird actually driving the car after all this time :) i hope i like it or i will be devestated!
  20. its getting there. Theres a few things I am not happy with on the car, mainly bodywork, but i am going to get it on the road and sort them out later.
  21. Minor Update, trial fitted my front brakes last night. they fit with exactly zero clearance from the caliper to the back of the wheel face, so i am going to skim the tiniest amout from the front corner of the face of the caliper and that should do it. They are porsche 911 turbo brakes and rotors, with alloys bells for an audi TT, and custom carriers. anyways - snaps: They obviously need a bit cleaning up but they have been stored for donkeys. Not bothered about bling, i just want big stopping power. I will probablies paint them black when i tidy them up to be more inconspicuous. Check out the swept area of the pads on the disc - its the entire face of the disc! very nice. against the original 280mm disc. what the picture doesnt show is that the porsche disc is twice as thick as the standard one. and has some very cool venting system in it. sorry wobbly camera!
  22. thats right mate, but you will need to fit the r32 abs/esp unit and the mk4 mastercylinder (and therefore the mk4 servo) its all worth it though :)
