  1. Small update: Replaced the ECU relay, and the cam position sensors, and the maf on friday, reset the ecu, and I havent had another error code since. pleased thats sorted now. just got to make sure all the mechanicals are ok now. I have a bit more confidence to give it a bit more and it goes very very well indeed. Has a lovely m3 style raspy bark to it, and the pull at 3000 to 4000rpm is just awesome. It all goes a bit crazy above there with the cams and stuff, but for brisk (read rapid) progress, the midrange is awesome, and it retains the purity of an NA motor. I am not sure i need the charger!
  2. hmmm interesting! I wonder what vince has done? whether the clocks get the speed signal or not is irrelevant, its the ecu that wants it. I wonder if hes wired it into the loom already? The speed signal doesnt produce a direct error as such, but you get camshaft position errors and the like. I think its supposed to use it for the variable valve time, eg open differently at different speeds and stuff, in which case if it doesnt have it, it will get confused. But as you say if vince has already done the conversion on a number of other cars then he must have sorted it. I am fairly certain the throttle adaptation will sort the lumpy idling out, and an ecu reset will start it learning again from scratch. Might be worth a try before you start ploughing money into garages. My car is now completely error free by the way  (just thought i would slip that in lol )
  3. what do you mean by bypassed? the motronic ecu definaetely needs the speed signal, otherwise it will throw errors. It uses it in part of its engine load calculations and stuff. definately need the vag com on it.
  4. vag com is essential in these situations. get the fault codes read, and cleared and see what comes back. Also if you havent already done so then you need to run the ecu reset procedure through vag com. You will also need to do the throttle adaptation if you havent done that either, as you have fitted a different accelerator pedal. Are you using the original clocks? or the R32 ones? the water temp senders are different for each motor, so if you are running the corrado clocks then you will need to stick a corrado vr water temp sender in the engine too - luckily there is a blank along side the R32 sender (which is still needed becuase that one also talks to the ecu) Have you got the speed signal wired up to the ecu? that is essential or it will through a boat load of spurious errors up. so: 1. clear faults 2. throttle adaptation 3. ecu reset. thems the important bits.
  5. did i not! I was selling the car on numerous occasions over the last 5 year, only thing that stopped me was the fact that no one would buy it in bits lol I have never been one for shows and stuff, but I may go to a few next year.
  6. good plan. I will do the same this morning. I actually think mine is within an acceptable operating range, but i would still like to dial some out.
  7. thread revival! got me car on the road, and i know of a few others out there doing the same thing, so thought this might be the place for all your questions. I am sure this used to be a sticky thread?
  8. no spare brackets mate, everything i have is attached to the car. But I could do some measurements if you wanted? edit: I just completed a 25mile round trip, just pootling along at sedate normal speeds and it returned 36mpg! woop! I was driving like a fadge though.
  9. Does it tell you which sensor? Did it do that when PhatVR6 had it in his car? And is it the correct ECU for the engine? You've also got 268s in it IIRC? As you know, the R32 flavoured 24V detects cam timing as part of the VVT process, so I'm just wondering if it's just a simple sensor fault, or if the longer duration cams you've got are throwing it off, but the fault code for that should have been written out in the software. Dunno mate, just guessing :D hmm not sure to be honest, need to check that. I think i know what it is anyway. I seem to momentarily lose my speed speed signal on the car, as I can see the speedo flicker a touch, and the ecu needs that speed signal. I think its looking at the engine revs, then the speed, and the load and cam position, and thinking thats not possible. Well in my head anyways. All teething troubles, and will be sorted. phat had similar errors when he didnt have a speed signal wired up at all, so its sort of pointing that way. Ecu and the cams match. It will be something simple I am sure. the rest of the car is fine. You are far too modest mate. Your car looks feckin lush and that's why people are looking at it :salute: cheers dude, its how i like my cars to look. I always try and think what would the manufacturer do with the corrado shell today, and this is my attempt at what it should look like. Theres nowt for show on the car, it all has a purpose. I flick the bell end of the word 'stance' lol
  10. yep its great to be back. and its good to know that a 4wd corrado still oozes all the character of a normal corrado! yep you will munch through rear tyres if you dont get the camber sorted. You can see my ride height, and I have the vr6 syncro rear arms which reduce camber further, but it still has too much camber for my liking. I have some camber adjustment plates that i am going to weld onto the axle to allow my to set my camber. Hopefully will be getting that done this week, then I will be getting it booked in for a full 4 wheel alignment. Every 4wd corrado needs this doing. I can get the plates manufactured, if anyone is interested.
  11. Thanks, I think it needs the side strips putting back on it, to break up colour a bit. The wheels are a one off, and required a lot of machining to get to fit!
  12. Well, got most of the knocks sorted out, the car is driving really well now. The main problem i am having now is the engine is throwing a cam position fault code up, Not 100% what is going on there...more investigation needed. another quick snap of the car in my work carpark: needs a good polish and stuff but its getting there. Seems to get a lot of gawping when i am driving about, but i suppose they are pretty rare now.
  13. the fettling continues... somehow my diff has slowly leaked all its diff fluid out over the course of the project, which has explained a lot of the noise and rumbling from the back. luckily i have only done a few miles in it. quick fluid change and its now nice and quiet at the back. got a heat shield clattering the prop at the front, need to remove that. Then its mainly geometry setup i think. oh and i now have an abs fault...typical...
  14. ended up costing my 90 quid a piece for geniune items. www.lamdasensor.com is the place, guy was very helpful and delivered next day. I would recommend them.
  15. no vids or pics at the moment, I am still going very steady making sure everything is mechanically sound. I will put some pictures up at the weekend. Jay, I had to get my finger out, I couldnt have you completing 2 projects before i finished this one :)
  16. thanks for the nice words people. was reading back through the thread last night and was laughing at how many finish dates I had set :D March seemed to be the month of choice .... but that was march 4 years ago  Need to get the car up on the ramps and make sure everything is working as it should.
  17. not that bad actually - all the toe out is countered by the extreme camber, theres only a quarter of the rear tyres touching the floor lol! only joking, its not actually that bad, I should know i have pushed the fecker in and out the garage for the last 5 years lol
  18. yes. I fitted the full r32 wiring loom to the car, including all the abs and esp stuff. sorted.
  19. cheers mate. Its been a long time in the making. Like i say its far from the complete article at the moment, it needs to be a lot quieter and smoother before i am happy with it. The porsche seats are up in one of my bedrooms at the moment. I need to make some frames to mount them on. Its down the list at the moment until i get the car running right. The 4wd is good mate, I have not really give it any real big test but I know it doesnt spin the wheels up even in damp conditions. Feels very planted, much like a vr6 supercharged rallye i had a go in many years ago. The wheels are currently pointing all directions, yet despite that the car tracks straight and true. its impressive. It helps that its proper intelligent haldex 4wd, not just a viscous coupling.
  20. thanks dudes, well I wouldn't call this finished by any stretch of the imagination, but its certainly a step forward. At the moment its way too rattley and noisey for my liking, and theres a knock somewhere on the drivetrain - i suspect one of the driveshafts may need its length altering a bit. doorcards need finishing off, rest of the interior needs bolting down properly, couple of bits in the engine bay to sort out, and the glass and seals need replacing for me to be happy with them. But the main thing is its on the road now, and it looks like I imagined it should look. Oh and it goes like a bullet, which is good because i still have the charger to fit :)
  21. thanks man. I am happy with it. Let the fettling begin!
  22. cheers dude, theres a lot more chance of seeing it now cos its just passed its test!!! woop! I am now road legal for the first time in a million years! some snaps from today: the offending lambda probes removed and some nice shiney new ones fitted up, brought the hydrocarbon emissions down from 8300 to 140! Lets go drive! :D
  23. hey hey! now then lozza! long time no speak, i hope life is treating you good mate. Oz is a pipe dream at the moment, but definately a consideration for the future. yes mate almost road legal, by the time you get back it should be the complete article - you arent coming back until 2015 right? lol
