  1. my mams vr does this, and I belive it to be the little bearing in the top mount.
  2. back lit ones have to be the ultimate, has no one attempted this before?
  3. keep it body colour mate. I believe there will be a clear and present danger of making your car look gash when you pop the bonnet
  4. My cousin has one just like that, and its awesome. stuff the badge snobbery, its either a good car, or not a good car. and the vx is an extremely good car. Mind you theres not a deal insid the cabin as far as creature comforts go.
  5. Hello Does anyone know what the colour and position of the rev counter wire is coming into the back of the fusebaord. I have narrowed it down to either a blue wire or a yellow and black one. Anyone?
  6. would it be the same story if it were a rainy day though? The dubweiser 20v 5cyl 4wd mk1 is pretty special too. But its horses for courses, and I want something that is competent in all conditions. given an infinite amount of grip a 2wd car will be better, its when that grip starts to disappear through rain/mud, gravel, uneven road surfaces that I belive 4wd will be an improvement.
  7. may as well take the oppurtunity to go 1.8T eh? its the natural progression from G60 is it not?
  8. can you point me to some literature to back this up? as it sounds pretty far fetched to be honest. Do you not think the 2wd cars would be completely stripped and every weight reducing process carried out as well? Unless they tied helium balloons to the roof of the car i cant seehow this can be true
  9. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! quality!
  10. looking goood (as was once said on a acne advert) :)
  11. bin the rear lights standard ones look good imo
  12. worth a thought, I iwll do some digging
  13. ah but now you are added other things into the mix, F1 cars dont count as they generate monumental levels of downforce, plus whos to say a 4wd one wouldnt be quicker? but they cant do it because have to obey the race regulations. Look at teh british touring cars a few years back. all of them were 2wd, then audi rock up with their quattros and demolish the competition, so the next year the quattro is given a heavy weight penalty, and they still wallop the competition. The year after that 4wd was banned........get out of that one Rommel
  14. ah but mr phat sometimes those are the best things! Need I point out that is exactly how Google started up, and now look at it! As Mr Wires says, because its developed in 'open source' it means when clever people get their hands on it and make something better, then it evolves, and it does it without incurring massive development costs. My mate is buying one to run a Zetec locost on R1 throttle bodies so I will indeed have some proof soon enough. Sounds very good to me.
  15. super! sounds the biz to me, and could possibly signal the end of ridiculously overpriced electronics
  16. People talk of these aftermarket ECUs, and how much they cost. My mate has just puechased a megasquirt ecu with ignition for somewhere in the region of 170 quid! you should see the features the thing is packed with! shift lights, nos control, traction control, launch control etc etc. Its got all the features my dta ecu had, but its a quarter of the price! Could this be the beginning of cheap mappable ECUs?
  17. I bet with 100% certainty that she said no. In fact I bet there was swear words mixed in with the 'no' too.
  18. I think it doesnt exist and hes winding us all up
  19. they arent welded to the shell thats for certain, cos it can be a right knacker trying to get the thread started when the nuts are wobbling and sliding about inside
  20. yep its true, unfortunately if I want to go and get a diff, I am going to have to sell the 4wd gear to finance it all, so it is in fact one or the other, no going back. I cant really try it in 2wd first either as the engine has to come out to fit the front half of the prop. I am going 4wd, more as an engineering project point of view, just to say i did it (again). If its cr@p then I will do something with the back axle. I always liked the idea of making my own rear axle :D I am going to try and source some eccentric rear bushes so I can play with the rear camber. But all that comes later, I just want it on the road for now.
  21. ?????? i had mine off the clock (160+)on the A1 (6spd 02M 1.8t) and it was still going, i was running 15's so i think you need to deduct 6.5% of the speed to compensate for the diff in rolling cir from the TT. i love the 02M but it's just a bit of a lump. Aye, for some reason the gearing was ridiculously short. The box was off a leon cupra so i dont know if they have shorter gearing or what.
  22. A carbon prop shaft will not be much lighter than the modified 4motion one I have. they are incredibly light. The standard syncro propshaft is about 5- 6 times heavier!
  23. why does it have to go up over the top? I dont think I have seen that before
  24. I dont think that applies in this case, the 2wd axle legs weigh nowt, the syncro ones weigh a fair bit. Horrocks said that his 4wd corrado didnt feel that quick, but its down to the total lack of wheelspin. His track times prove that it is a very quick car indeed never heard that one before, I dont believe the 4wd has that big an impact on economy does it?
