  1. BDE - E for european would guess, especially considering the american code is BDA I think the r32 one is BDF but I cant remember... or it might be ADH....oh balls I think I heading the same route as Mike Baldwin
  2. why are you thinking of insuring as a standard car then ;)
  3. Well who knows, but what I will point out is that that the exact same 237bhp r32 engine came with 250bhp when it was fitted in the audi TT. All done to a map change and some marketing ethics, so 250bhp is the starting point. Actually I too think that 300bhp is a bit steep for a change of cams and a remap, but, The R32 can make the most of its cam change through its advanced electronics and VVT, so you never know. I have an R32 with a set of schrick cams in it, and a remap, so when I get it running properly I will let you know what the score is.
  4. This has got to be a joke right? '8 wievs', 'wery excited' haway man ;)
  5. do it man, you wont regret it!
  6. phat has had one, albeit in a 4wd car. I also have one, again in a 4wd car, and also not on teh road yet!
  7. its a grand for the parts, which you have to work on to get to fit. Depends how capable you are to do stuff yourself
  8. phat ran an r32 on 2.8 24v management, and it ran well, so it proves that the latest vw engine management systems are very clever indeed.
  9. Phat is selling a set of clocks, keys and ecu for a 24v motor for 250 quid I think, check out his for sale thread
  10. I'll see your 3.1 12v and raise you a 24v. 8) I doubt a 3.1 12v will have the same low down punch as a 2.8 24v, its just newer technology, VVT, and variable inlet manifolds, better engine managment. It would be silly to persist with the 12v when you weigh up the pros and cons
  11. I do know [insert smug smiley here]
  12. has anyone ever thought that for the cost of original wings it would be worth having carbon fibre ones made? I would be interested in some carbon fibre wings
  13. yep you might, got a little bit more done today. I have been beefing up my custom radiator support, and making up a few little mounting brackets for stuff. Jay, here's that little motor I was telling you about that is connected to the aircon loom. If it is for cooling the glove box I cant work out how it gets its cold air feed from the aircon box (although I havent really had a good look)
  14. the voltage drop (if there is any) wont matter at all once the engine is running becuase the alterantor provides the power, and thats still where its always been. My battery is going in the boot - I have no space in the front anymore.
  15. lol my mam does indeed drive a vr corrado. and Mr Banana, wheres your members gallery then? :D
  16. nice one. remember its Mothers day tomorrow, so treat her by letting her help you on the car lol
  17. Still got it, I couldnt let it go. Actually it may be going on my mams vr as her exhaust is looking a bit tired. Parents eh? havent got too much done today, Hopefully I will make a bit progress before the weekends over. Next on the list is to fit a clifford concept 500
  18. vr temp sender fits into the 24v engine yes, but you will need a T piece, unless he has used the vr oil cooler
  19. ah. now that I think about it I wont have mpg readout. I might trying and wire it in from the r32 ecu and see what happens. as for oil temp, I have fitted a VR oil temp sender and wired it to where it used to go in the VR fuseboard. I havent actually tested this but I am certain it should work as it doesnt need the ecu. I dont want to know my mpg anyway - it will only depress me lol
  20. what do mean? I have all the corrado mfa functions. What are you missing?
  21. Stan, no I am fitting the corrado clocks. I needed the golf clocks to satisfy the immobiliser, but I will be stripping them to just the backing plate and fitting them up the back of th edash somewhere. Trig. fitting an R32 is exactly the same as a 2.8 The are obviously subtle differences with the engine, but nothing that affects the way it goes in.
  22. moving it on a bit, - bumper repair, anyone got any tips on repairing the plastic on a bumper? My bumper has a perfect circle pressed into it, I suspect from driving into the back of someones exhaust. Plastic welding tips? We need a bodywork tips section.
  23. no its not necessary. what does it do? hmmmm let me think....what would and ISV Noise Damper actually do........ lol
  24. p.s. its a long way to go just for a cup of coffee, I will do you some beans on toast aswell
  25. Yessir! :cyclops: its the first time in about 8 months I have spent a few nights off the trott on it. I am going to have to mount the coolant reservoir on the same side yours is, as I wont have any space left on the right hand side once the aircon pipes, the 4wd controller and that big daft box of relays is in place. out of interest what sort of mileage are you getting from your motor now Jay? Phat reckons he averaged 18mpg when this lump was in his mk4
