Hi Craig, well I must say I have only noticed it on my current VR6 and my old VR6 had no such symptons. I took it out for a quick run earlier and I have observed that when I depress the clutch with no throttle it doesn't do it at all. It only does it whilst changing gear after being on the throttle. The revs rise about 500 rpm and then drop again once in gear. It's very odd almost like there is a delay on the throttle closing. The TPS might be another consideration... The only other car I have driven that has the same characteristic is a MK4 Golf R32! I have noticed you have a Storm which is what I have too, so maybe it is a Storm thing?! The car is driving fine and like you I get around the same mpg. I just find the whole revs rising experience a bit frustrating!

I never had this problem on my old VR but I have noticed when I change gear and depress the clutch the revs rise momentarily. Vag-com reports no faults so what could it be? Sticky throttle cable perhaps? The throttle is definately more stiff than my old one. :?

Maybe the VR6 is more fussy than the 16v's due the front end mass?

I might have to give this a go. What would the best springs be to use with standard shocks? I would sacrifice comfort over performance anyday. I'm looking at a nice 40mm drop but i'm thinking the rear might need 60s just so it sits even.
-
Whats your thought on doing this? Reason I am asking is because my rado has had brand new vw springs and shocks fitted and it sits quite high because of it. It seems a bit of waste to chuck out perfectly good suspension...

You could try an ECU reset too
-
When I had mine installed without a remap it took a good few miles before the ECU adapted to them. At first like you I could not notice any difference but after about 20-30 miles it really came alive :D Failing that your car might need a remap or get it VAG-COM'd to make sure you haven't got any fault codes.

I'll stick to my price then! thanks for your help guys :)

She mentioned she would be taking the hubs too if that makes a difference on price?

I have recently advertised my Corrado for breaking in a local newspaper and the other day I got a phone call from a woman wanting the complete brake setup from my car. From what I understand she was going to transplant it into her Scirocco, at the time I was unsure of what price to charge so I said I would let her know. I had a word with my old man who works in the motor trade and he said about £150 should do. So I sent her a text to let her know and got rudely woken up at 7.30 this morning to a text saying she didn't want to spend more than £75  Last year the discs and pads were replaced with genuine vw parts and I said to her she can take anything she needs to do the conversion. Now was £150 too much or did she just want something for nothing?! Rant over! Phil

I have no idea mate, all I know is that as soon my mate swapped the starter motors over all was well again...

The curse of the Corrado must be rubbing off on me again!

On Friday I had a new clutch fitted to my car, all went smoothly. Saturday I replaced the CPS with a new one because VAG-COM was throwing up an error code and I completed wiring up my ICE. Went to start the car a few times and all was well. On the fourth occasion when I started the car the starter motor just clicked  I was told by a mechanic friend it was probably the started motor at fault. So he came over and replaced the starter motor from my donor Corrado onto my current Corrado and guess what it started first time  So is this just a weird coincidence or might I have screwed something whilst I was wiring up my ICE??! Cheers Phil

No ban on me being a passenger  That would have been my old man testing out the handling! I knew he wouldn't be able to keep his hands off it ....lol I was travelling in the opposite direction on my bike....dunno if you noticed. Can't say I did mate, It's kinda hard to see who is riding a motorbike!
-
Thanks mate that's certainly a chufftie coming from you :D

Plans so far would be to get the clutch replaced which for some odd reason didn't get done when the chains were replaced  And then change the tappets and cams from my other Corrado which were only done a few hundred miles ago and I also got the SP 263 cams done at the same time so they will be going in. Next weekend (providing the weather holds out) i'm gonna install all my ICE :D I'm thinking about tinting the rear lamps red like i did with my old Corrado because that looks so much better.... but I dunno yet! I think they are bosch replacement fogs, they don't look quite right because they are slightly tinted! I know he only had them put on recently because the ones that were on there before were completely wrong!
-
I know it desperately needs it! Just seems like a bit of shame to do that since it's had brand new shocks and springs recently fitted

Having wrote off my Corrado on 15/8/08 I decided to buy myself a new one last weekend! It is a 96 registered Mystic Blue Storm, it's a completely standard unmolested example. It still has the original toolkit, warning triangle, first aid kit and even the crappy Sony CD player (which will be getting changed!) The bodywork work is in amazing condition considering the mileage with no parking dings or scrapes to be seen. It has a few stonechips but that is considered of a car this age. It really is testament to the previous owner who had it garaged and valeted every week :) The previous owner has also had loads of work done to it recently including a complete suspension overhaul using only genuine VW parts, new timing chains, guides and tensioners. It really has not had any expense spared on it! It rides so much better than my old one which probably due to the new bushes and it handles like a Corrado should :D I couldn't resist putting my BMC CDA filter on it but I have kept the original when I want some peace! I really don't want to mod this one and I am tempted to just keep it standard but I know what I am like... give it a few months! I'm interested to know whether any of the previous owners might be on this forum? New amp & components - loads of interference - SORTED
Cnut replied to Mark_Storm's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Is the earth touching bare metal on the car? If it is touching the metal with paint this will need to be scraped off so that it is grounding the bare metal. -

Make sure you have a good earth too cause a bad one can induce interferance -
Second that, installation is the key when getting the best sound. Sound deaden the doors, cure any rattles etc. Setting up wise firstly make sure your gains are set correctly by setting your headunit to about 3/4 of the max volume and slowly turn the gains up until you can hear distortion or clipping and set your headunit to flat i.e. bass and treble to flat level. I recently got my system set up professionally by a really good bunch of guys down Liquid Ice whilst it sounded good it wasn't to my taste so I tweaked further and I think I have found the sweet spot to my ears. So what sounds good to one person might not sound good to another thats why I always find it best to play with it yourself.

I have been a passenger in one and I have to say they are very nice cars. They don't feel all that quick probably due to size but they certainly do pick up pace very quickly :) I have to say though it no way sounds as good as the R32 it has lost the wrasp that the R32 has but thats probably done to the exhaust.
-
You have to remember that even the newest Corrado is 13 years old and I bet the even the lowest mileage and well maintained examples have worn out parts. I think the only way you could provide a truely fair comparision would be if you were to pit a brand spanking new Corrado against one of the more modern rivals and then see what the outcome is :D

I have to say mine didn't seem any noisier yesterday  Although it did seem to go much better when I topped it up, either that or the Shell VR-Power I put in yesterday!
