    water temp too low?

I was just a bit concerned that the car might be overfueling due to the ecu thinking the car might be running cold?
  2. I have a 95 vr6, I noticed that during normal driving conditions the water temp sits around 70 degrees but when sat in traffic it creeps up to 90 degrees which i believe is normal but as soon as the car is on the open road it drops to 70 degrees again. I recently replaced the thermostat housing, thermostat (90 degree), and blue temp sensor. Im not sure what is causing this? the oil temp reaches 98 degrees which is normal.
  3. Yes he should, a coupe will probably be my next project after the rado.
  4. If the ICE is connected to an amp make sure that the remote turn on lead is connected else the amp will stay on with the ignition off!
  5. Mine was a 1.0 Mk4 Polo, it was painfully slow with only 45bhp but still I managed to get over 100 out of it!
  6. I had to take the bonnet release handle off to make easier access to route some RCA leads and speaker cables through on refitting I pulled it and the bloody cable went slack! I had to get the bonnet open so I could connect the live amp wire up to the battery, so I had to break the clips on the top of the grill to reach the bonnet cable  Another one. I recently replaced the coilpack and whilst I was replaced it i must had lent on the thermostat housing. 5 miles down the road, coolant gushing out everywhere, steam from the engine etc. I thought I blew the headgasket. I somehow managed to bodge the hose that came off back onto what was left of the housing using the screwdriver from the spacesaver wheel! but I had no water. I managed to find an unused panda bottle on the side of the road (sign of a god?!) and put that in. I had to limp to back home for the rest of the way!
  7. Get one! Sod the reliability we don't buy corrados for their reliability do we?! And they are equally rare. I want to get a Fiat coupe 20v turbo my heart says yes but my head says no. Always follow your heart!
  8. Sorry to hear that :( If you are breaking I would definately be interested in some parts.
  9. I forgot to mention that jerkyness only occurs when the engine is hot, when cold it is smooth. I have now replaced the fuel pump but that hasn't made any difference. Surely if the tps was faulty it would exhibit the jerkyness hot and cold?
  10. I finally got to the bottom of a squealing/whistling noise that was coming from my car when booting it under load. I originally thought there was a air leak somewhere on one of the induction hoses but how wrong I was! It turned out to be the fuel pump, it was making the usual humming noise that you would associate with a worn pump but after changing it the noise completely dissappeared :) Its strange because the noise definately sounded like it was coming from the engine bay :? So if your car is making a squealing or high pitched whistling noise under load - check your fuel pump!
  11. 3. Look under the rear disc plates (not sure what they are called) because I had a stone that was caught in mine and it was making an almighty racket!

    Changing Fuel Pump

No worries mate! Cheers Colley, I'll have a go at it tonight, do I need a specific type of clip? because on this post http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2241752 the guy used some 'fuel injection system hose clamps'.

    Changing Fuel Pump

If it was the "fuel filter" I was changing that would be ideal!
  14. My new fuel pump has just arrived today from VW. Any tips and advice for removal and installing? I took the cover off and noticed the fuel lines were clamped to the pump, they don't look reusable would it be worth replacing these at the same time? Ta Edit: Its on a VR
  15. What?! Anyway I was playing around with it a lunchtime and the it seems to have repaired itself :?
  16. I noticed yesterday that when the vent selector is turned from the "face vents" to the "face and floor vent" position no air comes out of the floor vents but there is air coming out of the face vents. This is were it gets weird! When I turn the vent selector from the "face and floor vent" position to just the "floor vent" position and back to the "face and floor vent" position air comes out of both the face and floor vents! meaning it works! Does anyone elses Corrado have the same quirk or is something broken somewhere?!
  17. I cleaned it out last night anyway with some contact cleaner, I dont think it made any difference. The coilpack, ht leads, sparkplugs have all been changed recently so that rules them out. It makes me wonder whether it might be a fuel starvation problem because the fuel pump is very noisy, I changed the fuel filter but that made no difference to the noise so im gonna order a new pump today. How many fuel pumps are there on a VR? I have ordered a set of injectors and rails off JIMMI so they will be getting replaced for some newer ones. Would it be worth changing the TPS while im there?
  18. I unplugged it last night, the engine didn't stall or anything but the throttle response was crap and the revs dropped quickly but hesitation was still there. I take it this means that my MAF is still working?
  19. The problem went away when I ventured into Forced induction.....so that's an expensive way to cure throttle snatchiness  From memory, I'm sure it was the MAF causing it. It seems to cause a lot of issues in the low rpms and idling when it's duff. Thanks, that looks like another one to add to list :( Would you expect the symptons to dissappear with it unplugged or would it be the same?
  20. Any useful contributions to the thread would be appreciated
  21. Kev did you ever get to the bottom of this? Because my car has the exact same symptons...
